$10 Million Suit to Punish Skeptics of Global Warming Propaganda

Democrats have repeatedly made it clear that they want to throw people in prison for challenging their bogus global warming dogma. They don’t have the political leverage yet. But in the meantime, there is always lawfare:

A Stanford University professor filed a $10 million lawsuit against a team of researchers critical of his study purporting to show the U.S. could run on 100 percent green energy.

Reports surfaced in July that Stanford professor Mark Jacobson was mulling legal action against a team of 21 researchers led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Christopher Clack.

Now, the disgruntled Stanford professor is suing his critics for claiming he made a “modelling error.”

Just the lawyer fees for a suit like this will be enough to intimidate some skeptics into silence.

Mike Shellenberger of the pronuclear group Environmental Progress accurately characterizes the lawsuit as “an appalling attack on free speech and scientific inquiry” and notes that “Scientific disagreements must be decided not in court but rather through the scientific process.”

But that won’t do, because it does not guarantee the politically desired outcome. When even the weather is politicized, law trumps science, as we saw when the Supreme Court absurdly ruled that carbon dioxide — which is produced by literally all human activity, and which plants require to grow — is a “pollutant” subject to regulation by the fanatical Environmental Protection Agency, on the grounds that according to leftist theory it makes the weather warmer.

On a tip from KirklesWorth.

So this is the 21st century version of the scientific method?

It has become obvious to the most casual observer that the ‘climate’ scam’s wheels have been coming off for years now and this is the classic overreach of the purveyors of crap like this.

Hope the potential defendants will counter-sue for their fees and costs, right off the bat. If this idiot cannot prove defamation (slander or libel requires proof of intent to defame, and mere disagreement with conclusions is NOT intent; the idiot potential “plaintiff” is not a “public figure” within the definition of the term, which would allow him a lower threshold of proving defamation — tough titties!). Any real judge would throw the initial suit out at a preliminary hearing and award the “defendants” their attorney fees and costs — big $ hit to the moron suing, as there’s no provable cause or premise on which to base a lawsuit. (This from a lawyer).

  9. Eddie_Valiant says:

If it was anywhere else except the left coast, I’d believe a judge would toss this bogus suit out on its rear, but in today’s world……

Well, when the scientific process is Lysenkoism, the courts are the proper place to decide such things. That, and summary executions of dissenters.

Kansas City attorney shot dead on his porch as man he recently defeated in court is tied to case

    Updated: Thursday, October 26, 2017, 10:19 AM

A Kansas City attorney was fatally shot on his front porch moments after walking his kids to school — and a man he recently sued is tied to the killing.

Thomas Pickert was identified in local reports as the victim of the Wednesday morning shooting, as police still search for a suspect in the case.

An unoccupied white Chevrolet van connected with the shooting was discovered later Wednesday. The 1997 vehicle was registered to David Jungerman, who had recently lost a lawsuit filed by Pickert, local NBC affiliate KSHB reports.

Jungerman, 79, reportedly hasn’t been named as a suspect nor person of interest in the case, although police were reportedly at his home Wednesday.

The slain attorney, who worked at the Fowler Pickert Eisenmenger law firm, represented one of the two men Jungerman shot on his property in 2012.

Thomas Pickert, an attorney, was identified as the victim. He’d recently won a $5 million case for a client who was shot in 2012.

His client, Jeffery Harris, and another man were homeless and believed to be stealing copper when they set off Jungerman’s alarm. He ran outside, shooting them with an AK-47, according to KSHB.

Harris’ leg had to be amputated because of the shooting, according to reports.

Pickert led the civil lawsuit, successfully winning a $5.75 million case against Jungerman.

Pickert was sitting on his porch at about 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, having just dropped off his two sons at their nearby school, cops told the Kansas City Star.

His wife, a doctor, heard a noise, ran outside and found him shot, police said.

Associates remembered Pickert — a marathon runner and endurance athlete — as a caring attorney.

“He was extremely well-liked, everyone respected him,” David Morantz, his law school classmate at the University of Kansas, told the Star. “He was always thoughtful, always engaging and always had a smile on his face.”

  30. Scott Doty says:

Be in denial regarding climate change all you want, reality won’t change because you are ignorant.

  31. Bodhisattva says:

Yeah, the current surface warming slowdown will continue despite all the lunatic lying liberals who claim that CO2 drives surface temperature, when 20 years of data from direct observation proves otherwise.

  32. Scott Doty says:

You are clueless. Global temperature has increased in the last 50 years. Deny all you want that is as close to a fact as you get in science. What is causing the change, I don’t know, no one truly does. Could it be humabs? It certainly could be due to our actions. It could also be due to something else. Denying the changing climate is just plain ignorance.

  33. Bodhisattva says:

Opening with ad hominem just goes to show how little you value your own arguments:

Global temperature has increased in the last 50 years.

Global temperatures have been increasing for a lot more than 50 years. Other than the “adjustments”, which are beyond remarkable and into the realm of FRAUDULENT, there’s nothing remarkable about the increases in temperatures over the last 50 years with ONE EXCEPTION:

… the rate of warming over the past 15 years (1998–2012; 0.05 [–0.05 to 0.15] °C per decade) … is smaller than the rate calculated since 1951 (1951–2012; 0.12 [0.08 to 0.14] °C per decade).

It has been claimed that the early-2000s global warming slowdown characterized by a reduced rate of global surface warming, has been overstated, lacks sound scientific basis, or is unsupported by observations. The evidence presented here contradicts these claims. A large body of scientific evidence — amassed before and since the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change indicates that the surface warming slowdown, also sometimes referred to in the literature as the hiatus, was due to the combined effects of internal decadal variability and natural forcing.

Now you can be the denier, you can ignore the iPCC and that group of climate scientists all you want even as you FALSELY call me a denier (I never said or suggested the world is not warming – that’s a “STRAW MAN” argument of yours!) all you want and it only proves once again your only argument is AD HOMINEM, that “denier” label, which is true about YOU because I’m a climate REALIST. I base my views on REALITY, what is actually observed. You base yours on models, attribution and, frankly, LIES, PROPAGANDA AND TALKING POINTS.

If you review what the IPCC and the climate scientists said (at the sources given above) you will see they ADMITTED that as the atmospheric CO2 level went UP, the surface warming rate went DOWN, exactly the OPPOSITE of what MUST HAPPEN were the things you believe true.

Therefore the inescapable, indisputable conclusion is your beliefs are wrong. This isn’t me saying so – it’s REALITY and, I note again, the IPCC and noted climate scientists. I’m just the messenger and you choose, foolishly, to remain ignorant, to avoid hearing the clear message that’s coming from YOUR SIDE.

    You admit:

What is causing the change, I don’t know, no one truly does.

I am not saying I know either – but there are several candidates, “humabs” not one that’s in the running though.

There is ample evidence that the rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere are a normal consequence of a naturally warming world and that such a CO2 increase has been observed and recorded in stone (or ice) every time the world has warmed, NORMALLY AND NATURALLY.

Now you seem intent, throughout this post I’m replying to, in establishing a FICTION – which is what I see climate alarmists do routinely. That FICTION is a claim I’m denying that the world is warming.

I AM NOT DENYING THIS, in fact I am HOPING it is warming. Who, exactly, decided what the optimum temperature of the Earth is? I can tell you for a FACT we have not reached it yet. This, too, is an easy conclusion for anyone who disregards the hype and hoopla and considers these matters calmly and rationally.

MORE CO2 IN THE ATMOSPHERE (from the current level, anyway) IS GOOD!

Deny it and all you will do is prove who the “denier” here REALLY IS – look! IT’S YOU!

  34. Bodhisattva says:

THIS JUST IN: It appears that “global warming” is causing winter to come in early and to be colder than usual, but you probably won’t see the left wing media or climate alarmists talking much about it:

The first Arctic blast of the 2017-18 winter season has entered the U.S.

This Arctic blast means business. The frigid air mass first entered the lower 48 states on Wednesday, and on Thursday morning, air temperatures were in the single digits Fahrenheit in Minnesota, and below zero Fahrenheit in North Dakota.

By Friday morning, wind chill readings in New York City and Boston will be in the teens Fahrenheit, the coldest they’ve been so far this season.

Then on Friday night, overnight low temperatures in New York may hold in the low-20s Fahrenheit in the city, while parts of the Hudson Valley could see lows in the teens. Numerous record lows could be tied or broken on Friday night in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

A hard freeze is also forecast in Boston as well as Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

I don’t wish ill on anyone, but it serves those left wing voters right. I wonder if this is the clue that will finally help them see the light?

  35. Bodhisattva says:

That is the ultimate solution if you’re serious about reducing the carbon footprint of the human race. Good luck to climate alarmists trying to get anyone to volunteer to go first, though.
