Prominent Austin Democrat Crows That Gun Ban Is Coming

Hopey Change means living in upside-down world. Alex Jones — formerly known as an unhinged truther kook — has emerged as a relative voice of reason. Here he presents still more evidence that our collectivist rulers intend to disarm law-abiding citizens, including a triumphant proclamation by prominent Austin Democrat Mike Martinez that a gun ban is coming:

Anti-Anxiety Medication Used as Pretext to Confiscate Firearms

Given the current political climate, all new gun control measures must be resisted ferociously, because liberal authoritarians have made clear that they will disarm law-abiding citizens any way they can. Even ostensibly reasonable objectives like keeping firearms away from lunatics are providing cover for tyrannical abuse:

The New York State Police are suspending the handgun permits of people in the state who are prescribed anti-anxiety medication, according to Jim Tresmond of the Tresmond Law Firm in Hamburg, New York. …

“We were flummoxed by this whole matter,” the attorney said. “The HIPPA act is supposed to prevent this kind of thing from happening. It’s a gross invasion of our privacy rights.”

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Privacy Rule establishes national standards to protect individuals’ medical records and other personal health information, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Does anyone really trust Big Government to keep information private? If your property belongs to bureaucrats to redistribute as they see fit, so does your medical data.

In violation of both the Second and Fourth Amendments, Andrew Cuomo’s gun-grabbing NY SAFE Act authorizes healthcare workers to report suspicious patients; those considered to pose a threat will have their firearms confiscated. Gun permits can be arbitrarily suspended before the holder can even state his case.

Evidently the common practice of taking anti-anxiety medication qualifies as posing a threat.

Tresmond says his client was notified by letter that his gun permit was suspended upon the recommendation of State Police, who learned the man is on anti-anxiety medication.

The police now hold the seven handguns he used for target shooting.

“A law-abiding, honest, hard working professional, who never had one wit of scandal associated with him, criminal or otherwise. And they took his guns away,” Tresmond said.

Is this the kind of country we want to live in? If not, we had better do something about it fast. As Leonardo da Vinci said, it is easier to resist at the beginning than at the end — and students of 20th century history can see where this looks likely to end.

The Rehabilitation of Anthony Weiner

After Bill Clinton, no extreme of disgracefulness places a Democrat politician beyond rehabilitation. Former congresscritter Anthony Weiner (D-NY) tweeted out pictures of his engorged genitals to women he met online and then brazenly lied to the public about it, while his wife — who happens to be Shrillary Clinton’s close companion Huma Abedin — stood there pregnant with egg running down her face. With this on his resume, Weiner may now run for Mayor of New York.

As part of his rehabilitation, Weiner explained to the New York Times Magazine how his behavior was the fault of the world and of being a politician:

Weiner admitted to the Times that what drove his inappropriate relationships online was “a world and a profession that had me wanting people’s approval.”

“By definition, when you are a politician, you want people to like you, you want people to respond to what you’re doing, you want to learn what they want to hear so you can say it to them,” he said.

He explains that he sent the appallingly lewd tweets because “I want to be liked and admired.”

Now for the real horror: given NYC’s current mayor, even Weiner could be an improvement.

Schoolchildren Taught There Is No Right to Bear Arms

How can we expect the next generation to uphold the constitutional rights that have been successfully defended for two centuries if they are taught in government schools that these rights do not exist? From Bristol, Connecticut:

[Steven] Boibeaux’s son is an eighth grader at Northeast Middle School. On Monday his social studies teacher gave students a worksheet titled, ‘The Second Amendment Today.’

“The courts have consistently determined that the Second Amendment does not ensure each individual the right to bear arms,” the worksheet states.

That is a brazen lie in light of the Supreme Court’s Heller decision.

The worksheet, published by Instructional Fair, goes on to say that the Second Amendment is not incorporated against the states.

“This means that the rights of this amendment are not extended to the individual citizens of the states,” the worksheet reads. “So a person has no right to complain about a Second Amendment violation by state laws.”

Apparently “shall not be infringed” isn’t sufficiently clear cut. Note that the 14th Amendment — which explicitly extends constitutional rights to citizens of each state — is completely ignored.

According to the document, the Second Amendment “only provides the right of a state to keep an armed National Guard.”

That is, in their ingenious attempt to defend America from future tyranny, the Founding Fathers enumerated our right to be ruled by a government that is armed.

Once again we see that shining a light on them causes the rats to slink back to their holes:

Ellen Solek, the superintendent of the school district, told Fox News they have now decided to pull the assignment from the classroom.

“It is no longer an assignment in that particular school,” she said, noting that it was an “administration decision in the best interest of the district.”

However, they retreat ever more slowly, baring their hideous teeth as they go.

She refused to answer any questions about the content of the lesson, how it became a part of the curriculum or how many students were assigned the lesson.

Another good question would be how long before the assignment returns to that school once the public is no longer paying attention.

Inflating Another Housing Bubble

Under Hope & Change, even good news is ominous:

Over the past year, the Federal Reserve has ramped up its policy of quantitative easing, with the result being new stock market highs and surging bond prices. Moreover, housing prices jumped 8%, the biggest annual gain since 2006.

The result is that more than a trillion dollars have been added to the market value of single-family homes.

Unfortunately that $1 trillion exists only on paper. No new wealth has been created.

It appears that home prices are being levitated by quantitative easing. Because interest rates were .625% and .90% lower on new and existing homes respectively this year compared with last year, the monthly finance cost to purchase a new home remained the same and went up only 3% for an existing home.

While a housing recovery of sorts has developed, it is by no means a normal one. The government continues to go to extraordinary lengths to prop up sales by guaranteeing nearly 90% of new mortgage debt, financing half of all home purchase mortgages to buyers with zero equity at closing, driving mortgage interest rates to the lowest level in 100 years, and turning the Fed into the world’s largest buyer of new mortgage debt.

Thus, with real incomes essentially stagnant, this is a market recovery largely driven by low interest rates and plentiful government financing. This is eerily familiar to the previous government policy-induced boom that went bust in 2006, and from which the country is still struggling to recover.

Once interest rates are allowed to rise to natural levels, the bubble pops.

Meanwhile, the Regime is doubling down on the disastrous policy of forcing banks to make race-based mortgage loans to people unlikely to keep up their payments.

It’s almost as if they want another collapse. If the last one allowed them to elect a left-wing radical and push through the Dodd-Frank power grab, what might statists achieve by not letting the next crisis go to waste?

Enjoy the “recovery” while you can. It wasn’t built to last.

Obama Grounds Blue Angels

One advantage of the Sequestrocalypse charade is that it allows the Regime to use the infinitesimal temporary reduction in the rate of growth of government spending as a pretext to cut funding for anything it doesn’t like, while continuing to pour massive sums of borrowed cash down wasteful rat roles. The iconic Blue Angels inspire reverence for the Armed Forces. This won’t due; consequently,

The Blue Angels, the Navy’s revered aerial acrobats, have been grounded for the rest of the year due to sequestration cuts.

The Navy announced the cancellation Tuesday of over 30 shows for the stunt-flying team that were planned through November, citing budget cuts imposed by the Department of Defense.

That would be the same Department of Defense overseen by the Cindy Sheehan-esque Chuck Hagel.

The Navy isn’t alone.

The Navy is following in the steps of the Air Force, which last month cancelled all remaining shows for its stunt team, the Thunderbirds, and the Army, which cancelled remaining 2013 shows for its parachute skydiving team, the Golden Knights.

But there is still plenty in the budget to pay $16/gallon for “green” biofuel.

Moonbats Riot With Joy on Passing of Margaret Thatcher

You can judge the importance of Margaret Thatcher, perhaps the last great Briton, by the reaction of leftists to her death:

First there were celebratory taunts on social networking sites, rapidly followed by instructions for street parties across the nation to mark the Iron Lady’s passing.

Within hours, crowds swilling beer and champagne were gathering to show their delight at the news with offensive chants and banners.

And inevitably, as the night wore on, the drunken revels spilled over into violence with the streets ablaze.

Six police officers were injured — one seriously — in one particularly nasty incident early [Monday]. Troubled flared after midnight when a rowdy 200-strong crowd refused police requests to disperse from an inner-city area of Bristol.

In ugly scenes mirrored in cities across the country, dozens of officers put on riot gear and used shields and batons when the crowd refused their requests to disperse.

The mob pelted them with missiles, damaged a police car and set wheelie bins alight at the party in inner-city Easton.

Some of the injured police needed hospital treatment and one officer was detained for several hours with a neck injury.

It is as if merely by being alive she was still holding what remains of the once great nation together. With her gone, the final collapse into unmitigated moonbattery can commence. The rats scurrying forth from their fetid lairs with such malignant glee squeak with joy that the crumbling remnants of the country are all theirs to finish flushing away.

Plundering the Ovaries of Aborted Girls

Just try to get you head — let alone your heart — around this:

There’s been some buzz this week about a scientific discovery that can help the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process: for about ten years, doctors apparently have had the ability to harvest the eggs of aborted baby girls and use them to aid women who have difficulty conceiving.

Soon our moral decay will catch up with advancing science, and the artificially conceived children of homosexual “married” couples can go through life knowing that their mothers might have been killed before being born.

As Stalin and Hitler demonstrated so graphically, progressive ideology is a gateway through which nightmares that could only be spawned in hell enter our world.

Separated at Birth?

Many prominent moonbats have visibly close relatives in the animal world. For example:

waxman-mole
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and a hairless mole.

christie-elephant
Governor Chris “Krispy Kreme” Christie (RINO-NJ) and a baby elephant.

murkowski-tarsier
Senator Lisa Murkowski (RINO-AK) and a Philippine tarsier.

levin-sloth
Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) and a sloth.

waters-emu
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) and an emu.

lipinski-llama
Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL) and a llama.

Maybe Doctor Moreau is back at his experiments, creating half-convincing pseudo-people out of wild beasts from the zoo and using them to create a nightmarish ruling class.

Compliments of Dan Feely.
