Obama and his lackeys have been lying through their teeth from the beginning on Benghazi, as Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) confirms seven ways to Sunday during his debriefing of Gregory Hicks (former deputy chief of mission/chargé d’affairs in Libya) at today’s hearings:
Replace Boo-Hoo Boehner with someone of Gowdy’s incisive mind and firm character and the GOP could still be saved. As for the Obama Regime: either it is toast or America is; no healthy country would tolerate this degree of dishonesty, irresponsibility, and malfeasance.
On a tip from Sam Adams.
An illustrious congresscritter puts the horrific and clearly preventable deaths of four Americans in Benghazi into perspective by following up Shrillary’s infamous “What difference does it make?” with this:
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, tells Benghazi witnesses that “death is a part of life.”
If Benghazi doesn’t wake America up to the fact that we cannot allow ourselves to be ruled by moonbats if we expect to have a future, nothing will.

You could almost believe our moonbat rulers are striving for the most excessive extremes of self-parody just for laughs:
The Seattle Police Department collected more than 700 guns during a buyback in January, and now city officials have a plan for them.
Mayor Mike McGinn announced Tuesday they’ll be melted into plaques that feature quotes from Seattle children about gun violence and how it affects them.
This is what government does best: taking something of value and reducing it to something of no value, at least in part at public expense.
Thomas Jefferson is said to have said, “Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not.” Those who let posturing bureauweenies melt their guns into peace bricks aren’t as useful.
On tips from package of rainbow unicorn fewmets and Sam Adams.
CBS News can’t help but report on the wheels coming off the disgraceful Obama Regime as the Fundraiser in Chief’s gross dereliction of duty if not treason is exposed. But they can help how Benghazi is presented to the herd:
Any journalists out there care to explain what legitimate purpose the sneer quotes serve? Readers will note that CBS didn’t see any need for sneer quotes here:

Who do you suppose wrote the monstrous amnesty bill with which America’s most committed enemies are planning to deliver a $6.4 trillion death blow to the USA? Here’s a hint: it wasn’t Marco Rubio, the tool exploited to quell resistance, or any of the other Gang of Eight Quislings. From Breitbart:
Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) claimed on Breitbart News Sunday that the “Gang of Eight” U.S. Senators did not in fact write the 844-page immigration bill, but special interest groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the SEIU, and AFL-CIO and extremist advocacy groups like the National Council of La Raza actually wrote the legislation.
“It’s just unbelievable that legislation of this importance is being written in secret. The Gang of Eight claims they wrote it, but really if you saw the news reports Steve, it was always the unions and the Chamber of Commerce was working with La Raza and SEIU and they’re about to reach an agreement. I mean, like, who’s writing this bill?”
Obviously not anyone with America’s interests at heart.
“We need to be serving the American interest. If you have a choice, and there’s a job out here that pays an unskilled worker a decent wage with a retirement and healthcare benefit, should it go to somebody who came across the border illegally 18 months ago? Or to an unemployed American who’s on welfare and food stamps right now and unable to take care of his family? Somebody needs to be asking that question.”
See if you recognize this strategy:
Sessions said he thinks the groups who wrote the bill are pushing the Gang of Eight to force a vote on it before Memorial Day, a time frame that would not allow the American people to thoroughly examine it, because their lawyers “know what it’s going to do.” … Sessions said the bill is complicated and so difficult-to-read that it appears more like “gobbledygook” than legislation.
Have shadowy left-wing radical outfits write a massive bill that no one understands and ram it through quickly before anyone figures out what it says. What ObamaCare is doing to health insurance, the amnesty bill will do to America’s sovereignty, economy, and demographics.

In Hopey Changey America, the media’s job is not to inform but to misinform the public so as to advance a statist agenda. It has done its job well regarding gun crime:
Gun crime has plunged in the United States since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, including gun killings, assaults, robberies and other crimes, two new studies of government data show.
Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center.
The gun murder rate has been reduced by nearly half, and yet:
Despite the remarkable drop in gun crime, only 12% of Americans surveyed said gun crime had declined compared with two decades ago, according to Pew, which surveyed more than 900 adults this spring. Twenty-six percent said it had stayed the same, and 56% thought it had increased.
The national media has deliberately created this misperception by hyping gun crime in an attempt to facilitate Obama et al.’s attack on the Second Amendment.
A prime reason gun crime has fallen is that over the same period it has become much easier for law-abiding citizens to carry firearms, as this animated map from Radical Gun Nuttery illustrates:
More guns in the hands of the law-abiding equals less gun crime.

Remember Scott Compton, the English teacher who entertained his class by taking down the US flag and theatrically stomping on it? Since this occurred in deep red South Carolina, people didn’t like it. So Compton got a lawyer:
Lexington-Richland 5 paid former Chapin High teacher Scott Compton $85,000 to avoid a legal challenge, part of a settlement that led to his resignation after he stomped on an American flag during a class lesson.
The payment is on top of Compton’s salary that will be paid through June 7, even though he has been out of the classroom since December. School officials did not provide Compton’s salary Monday, but their plan pays teachers with his 12 years’ experience $43,340 to $59,647 a year.
Lexington-Richland 5 taxpayers also will foot the bill for more than $31,500 in attorney fees, records obtained by The State newspaper under a state Freedom of Information Act request show.
The $85,000 payment was described as “a compromise and resolution of disputed claims,” the records say. …
In accepting the payment, Compton agreed not to pursue a legal challenge to how school officials sought his dismissal by seeking damages for claims that include defamation, emotional distress and breach of contract.
That is, he agreed not to sue them for even thinking about firing him for his outrageous conduct in the classroom. He also agrees to go away.
The settlement guarantees him a letter of recommendation. After he blows through his generous gift from South Carolina taxpayers, he will turn up in a blue state school where stomping on Old Glory won’t raise any eyebrows.

Not all the foreign birds our moonbat rulers waste our money on have plumage as colorful as transsexual freakazoids in India. Using the excuse that some birds migrate, the US Fish and Wildlife Service has approved a $3.5 million grant intended to make there be more birds — in other countries:
This year’s grants will benefit hundreds of species in 15 countries. …
In collaboration with 30 local organizations, grantee National Audubon Society will strengthen communications to local people about the importance of the Bay of Panama to the economy, to Neotropical shorebirds, and to environmental and human health.
Guyra Paraguay will hire reserve guards and train local people to be ecotourism guides, and engage with media to raise awareness for bay conservation.
With our money.
Closer to home, but not close enough,
Grantee Fundación Defensores de la Naturaleza is partnering with an alliance of organizations in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua to increase the amount of Golden-cheeked Warbler wintering habitat under legal protection or being managed through sustainable agroforestry. It will also establish a monitoring system for the species to develop measurable population objectives for a 5-10 year conservation plan.
Meanwhile we are told that flight delays are inevitable because the government cannot afford air traffic controllers due to the sequester charade.
It isn’t a government. It is a mob of looters.
