Yeah, noted that one on the last open thread.

So here are three interesting observations.

    In schools

    In government

    In general

And the assumption is somehow the system is to blame? How about the bad actors? Why not accept they are to blame and the disparity is simply that there are more bad actors, per capita, in a population BECAUSE THEY CHOOSE TO BE BAD ACTORS, not because the system comes down any different on them or forces them to make the choices they make.

Easter, the Reason for the Other Season

Contrary to some modern perceptions, Easter really has nothing to do with bunnies, eggs, jellybeans, chocolate, or politically-correct “spring spheres.”

Coinciding with early spring, Easter can symbolically be associated with rebirth, renewal, and new beginnings but for Christians it is much more than that. It represents the central doctrine of the Christian faith without which little else makes sense. Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead which Christians believe will also be their spiritual reward for a life lived well.

”On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches. Christians believe, according to Scripture, that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus.” (Christianity.about.com)

Easter week, from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday, also represents an enigma to Christians and to non-Christians alike, namely, If Jesus is God, why did He have to die at all and why did he have to die so ignominiously, nailed to a cross?

The short answer is that He had to die because it was the Father’s will for a human being to suffer and die in order to atone for the sins of humanity from Adam onward. Both His death and resurrection also fulfilled scriptural prophecy and furnished meaning for His prophetic words to His disciples.

The long-contentious question of “Who killed Jesus?” is of far less consequence than the truth that He died and rose again. The Jews condemned Him, the Romans crucified Him, and we all shared the fruits of His ultimate sacrifice.

Few people will dwell on Easter’s deeper meanings and philosophical nuances this weekend as they celebrate what has become, like Christmas, more a holiday than a holy day. So, enjoy your finery, your bunnies, eggs, jellybeans, chocolate, or even those PC spring spheres. However, as with Christmas, it would be good to remember that there’s a reason for the season.

IT TAKES A LOT OF NERVE… …to criticize Mitt Romney’s support for the House Republicans’ budget when Senate Democrats won’t even write one, in violation of the law, and President Obama’s budgets can’t garner a single vote, NOT EVEN FROM DEMOCRATS!. But that is nevertheless what Obama did!

    Save Medicare?

Medicare was Congress’s great blunder of the 20th century. I think the program will continue bleeding money until it bankrupts the United States of America and destroys our economy, in roughly 15 years. And it will be popular right up to the end, as long as people perceive that they are getting something for nothing, or–same thing–a lot for very little. So in my view, Medicare should be phased out and replaced by a system where everyone can save for his or her old-age medical expenses in tax-deferred accounts. Which, of course, we already have.

Cosby gets one wrong. I generally respect Bill Cosby, but even he is wrong on this one.

He does make the point that, without the gun, Zimmerman may not have left his vehicle and I’ll grant that is likely correct.

Still, this sort of talk (what Cosby said) will tend to weaken gun rights and I’m against that in general.

It’s also worth pointing out that Cosby, as usual, even if he is wrong on this, at least gives an honest opinion devoid of emotion laden appeals to race and other nonsense. Even when he’s wrong, you still respect him.

    So, lao, learn from him!

The US Geological Society has been adamant in saying that the number of earthquakes is NOT increasing, it just seems like that:

“It seems to be a big year for earthquakes so far, with major earthquakes hitting Haiti, Chile, Taiwan and Turkey in a span of two months.

So is the number of earthquakes increasing? According to the United States Geological Survey, no.

The USGS cites a number of reasons why it seems that more catastrophic earthquakes than normal are happening.

Technology has increased the amount of earthquakes that are detected and reported. Today, there are thousands of stations, compared to about 350 in 1931. The increase of stations has allowed scientists to detect earthquakes that would not have been decades ago.

Rapid improvements in global communications have enabled news of an earthquake to spread almost instantly. Several decades ago, the USGS said, it could take weeks after an earthquake to make the newspapers, often landing on the back pages.”

    http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/has-the-number-of-earthquakes/25904

Oh but wait…NOW the USGS says that the number of earthquakes IS increasing and they say it’s due to oil and gas production:

“Oil and gas production may explain a sharp increase in small earthquakes in the nation’s midsection, a new study from the U.S. Geological Survey suggests.

The rate has jumped six-fold from the late 20th century through last year, the team reports, and the changes are “almost certainly man-made.”

Outside experts were split in their opinions about the report, which is not yet published but is due to be presented at a meeting later this month.”

My point was that now that both of those cases are no good for race baiting, as those “investigations” you were “waiting for” have gone against your hopes and dreams, you are not talking about them (except to note how many threads have been devoted to them here, as if that will stop us from reporting the “awful truths” exposed by the “investigations”) and hoping we will just forget them because they didn’t turn out as you wished.

Now this latest case, the shootings in OK, looked like a slam dunk and likely is, because even if your dad was viciously murdered by blacks it is no excuse to go out to the place where it happened and start randomly murdering other blacks who had nothing to do with it.

Now you will also note that we are “with you” in a manner of speaking, that those responsible for the shootings and murders in OK deserve swift, sure justice up to and including either life in prison or the death penalty for their parts in this.

We are AGAINST using this, as is the typical case with your ilk, as some sort of further justification for inciting racial tensions in order to reverse Obama’s dwindling chances for re-election.

  • Bob Roberts

Oh, and I was wondering, with the OK case, does anyone know who the other person he mentions (some variant of Sharon, I believe) and what the connection is? Another person murdered or just died? I’ve been busy, just checking in…

And lao, while I have your attention:

You may have an opinion on climate change, evolution education, stem-cell research, and science funding. But do you have the facts to back up your opinion? This quiz will test your basic scientific literacy. TAKE THE QUIZ, lao: Tell us how you do. Be honest!

I missed one – did not really take the time to understand what they were asking and so I got it wrong. It was an easy question I should have gotten right. So don’t make my mistake – consider each one carefully before you just say “I know this” and hit the wrong answer like I did.

  • lao

bobby, as usual, what you laughably portray as my “hopes and dreams” resides in the nether reaches of your own imagination.

So too is your suggestion I hope you will forget about what has been revealed so far.

So too is your suggestion I have interest in using any of these cases as a justification for inciting racial tensions.

The alleged triggerman in the arrested duo made some very racist and anti-black statements on his Facebook page. Apparently, two years ago, his father was (in his belief) murdered by a black man who is currently in prison, but not on a murder charge. At this point, the motive for these three Cherokee-on-black murders appears to be racial.

That being said, shame on the media and the race hustlers for blaming a white man before the suspects were arrested. Even if the shooter had been white, assuming that only a white person would randomly shoot blacks is just as bad as assuming a black man must be responsible if you come home and find your house burglarized by persons unknown.

Once again bobby, your own words demonstrate you are a liar.

  • AC

Jacob England identifies himself as Cherokee. “White” can mean not black, not Asian, and not Hispanic (and, as the Zimmerman case illustrates, Hispanic is often viewed as white). It is a frequent racial slush fund for people who don’t fit elsewhere.

Is “white” a synonym for European? If so, then that is insensitive to those of Eastern Slavic heritage, many of whom do not see themselves as being European, historically, not to mention that most Americans couldn’t locate the Urals if their life depended on it.

Are the inhabitants of Vladivostok Asian?

What about Obama? If he were being booked into jail, what would be his race?

Suppose that the definition isn’t based on skin color, but family heritage. Is Nicky Oppenheimer an African?

Police departments don’t care about the politics and finer points of heritage. Race is used for identification of an inmate. People who are dark skinned are black, people who appear to be from somewhere stereotypically considered “Asia” are Asian, and everyone else is white.

Or, we could admit that the concept of race is stupid and outdated, that culture is truly what matters, and that subject is too deep to be used as a visual identifier in a booking report. Rather than listing race, booking sheets should list skin color, just as they list eye color and hair color.

  • Tim from TK

“Or, we could admit that the concept of race is stupid and outdated…”

Indeed, but that would put lao and its ilk out of business.

  • Bob Roberts

Finally lao has what he’s been dying for… or so he believes.

Are you hoping we will come to their defense? Try to justify their acts?

Uncomfortable facts that cause lao to feel a strong need to distract us from thinking.

These two scumbags did something inexcusable, even if the guy’s dad was murdered by blacks – I really don’t know the details of his case, nor do I much care.

Doesn’t change the existing statistics, though.

  • Bob Roberts

Remember how lao just hates it when I “prattle on” about facts? He really hates facts. Probably will try to deny he ever said that.

    Go ahead, lao, deny it.

    There’s a quote for you.

    Deny it.

    Here are FACTS:

Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving blacks and whites, blacks commit 85 percent and whites commit 15 percent.
Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against blacks. Forty-five percent of their victims are white, 43 percent are black, and 10 percent are Hispanic. When whites commit violent crime, only three percent of their victims are black.
Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against a white than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery.
Blacks are 2.25 times more likely to commit officially-designated hate crimes against whites than vice versa.
Blacks are 15 times more likely than whites to be members of youth gangs.
Blacks are seven times more likely than people of other races to commit murder, and eight times more likely to commit robbery.
When blacks commit crimes of violence, they are nearly three times more likely than non-blacks to use a gun, and more than twice as likely to use a knife.
The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of the population that is black (or hispanic).

And the one fact he just can’t face:

Zimmerman was a “person of color”, a hispanic, not a “white”.

Hey lao, didn’t hear you crowing much once the “investigation” in the case of the former San Diego tea party spokesman ended up with him released and all charges dropped.

Care to finally give us your actual opinion on that without being a coward and hiding behind the words of others to give yourself cover?

Since lao is stuck on the ‘WAAAAAAAHHHHH! BOBBY SAID I WAS CALLING FOR ZIMMERMAN’S HEAD!’ kick still, despite being exposed for the ridiculous fraud he was on that topic, let’s just see:

Regardless of how the investigation (LOL) comes out (in fact it was already concluded, that’s why Zimmerman never was arrested or charged in the first place!), certainly you have opinions about:

    FLORIDA STAND YOUR GROUND LAW.

How about it, lao? Do you support the Florida “Stand Your Ground” law? Or are you against it?

DOES THAT LAW APPLY IN THIS CASE?

The evidence CLEARLY shows that Zimmerman was viciously attacked by Martin. That includes eyewitness testimony as well as the physical evidence, all of it, in the case. So, lao, is that enough to invoke this law?

ONE’S RIGHT TO SAVE ONESELF FROM IMMINENT DANGER OR DEATH.

How about it, lao? Do we all have the right, when viciously attacked, to use all means necessary to save our own life and/or health? Or do we have to sacrifice ourselves, let ourselves be killed?

Now naturally I’m certain enough to predict it that lao won’t give us ANY opinion of his own on this case since, as we all know, the only opinions he can express are those given to him by others and he generally denies holding any opinion himself, or at least steadfastly refuses to ever tell us what his opinions really are – even though, as I said before (which is why he’s throwing this present tantrum) he CLEARLY expresses his opinions through the posts he makes, as we’ve ALL NOTED.

So, bottom line, the only person lao is fooling IS HIMSELF!

    AS FOR MOTIVE…

So sorry lao, Tulsa motive not hate, merely revenge.

No excuse – they still deserve a prompt, fair trial then a death sentence IF and ONLY IF they are found to be the ones who were responsible for the shootings. And if they wind up getting found NOT GUILTY then the officials need to find who WAS responsible and the same applies to them.

While I think it’s likely the cops got the right guys, we don’t know that for sure, yet, do we? Of course, lao seems to be pretty sure of it!

Just like he’s been sure about the other three strikes (you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about, lao) he’s recently made.

Fortunately for lao, this case looks like a slam dunk.

But, actually, so did the others (at least to him) at first!

    FROM THE LAST LINK (1:32):

A family friend, Susan Sevenstar, told The Associated Press that England was “a good kid” and “a good, hard worker,” who “was not in his right mind” after losing his father and the January suicide of his fiancee, with whom he’d recently had a baby.

“If anybody is trying to say this is a racial situation, they’ve got things confused,” said Sevenstar, who described England as Cherokee Indian. “He didn’t care what your color was. It wasn’t a racist thing.”

The Tulsa World reported that England’s father, Carl, was shot in the chest during a scuffle with a man who had tried to break into his daughter’s apartment. England later died.

The man charged in the shooting is serving a six-year sentence on a weapons charge, according to Department of Corrections records.

OK lao, a quiz, then your opinion on the passage:

No cheating! If you don’t know, admit it:

    WHO SAID:

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property—either as a child, a wife, or a concubine—must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die. But the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proseltyzing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science—the science against which it had vainly struggled—the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.

What do you think of what the person said, lao, and is it fair to go on to ask:

When radical Islam catches up with “the strong arms of science,” such as, for example, with an Iranian nuclear weapon, what then?

  • Bob Roberts

A stark difference between lao & me:

I admit my own opinions drive what I post here.

He vehemently denies that he expresses any opinion here.

    So who’s lying?

  • lao

    Beautiful!

bobby was obviously into the good stuff late last night.

My favorite part was @1:06 of course.

bobby’s amazing hoop leaping to vainly try to cover up his lies is always a pleasure to behold.

Let’s see if I understand how a conjunction works by creating a sentence of my own.

But, should a charge be filed, a trial be held and a jury comes back and says NOT GUILTY, will that be enough for Jacob Carl England AND the other agitating Texas wingnut currently calling for black men’s heads.

According to bobby, that statement accuses the “other agitating Texas wingnut of calling for black men’s heads, but NOT Jacob Carl England.

Thanks for setting me straight, bobby the grammarian, I do enjoy mocking your astonishing stupidity.

The latter part of that @1:06 post was good for another out loud laugh.

bobby the grammarian writes: Poor lao. Everything is about him. Just can’t understand some people live in a world where he is inconsequential. Get used to it, lao.

bobby has quite clearly demonstrated that he is NOT someone who lives in a world where I am inconsequential.

bobby offers FOURTEEN comments in a row and all but ONE of them mentions poor inconsequential lao, and that’s just in THIS thread.

bobby the grammarian is truly beyond parody.

This comment of mine is 100% my own opinion so that answers bobby’s final question @2:02 am.

  • FrankW

Lets see the Tulsa thing was an Indian and a white guy (primary motivation – revenge) killing some blacks. OK, just more killing, not a hate crime [probably] (I still hate that term).
    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/04/08/tulsa-police-reportedly-make-2-arrests-in-north-tulsa-shootings/?test=latestnews

I do love this little chunk of the story though,
While Tulsa police were reluctant to describe the shootings there as racially motivated, City Councilman Jack Henderson was not.

“Being an NAACP president for seven years, I think that somebody that committed these crimes were very upset with black people,” Henderson said. “That person happened to be a white person, the people they happened to kill and shoot are black people. That fits the bill for me.”
So the determination of a hate crime is to be if differing skin colors were involved? Considering the length of time between when the guy’s dad was shot and no, I bet that they had incidental dealing with other blacks (gas station, grocery store, etc). Evidently there were no murders before now. Is it possible he targeted these people believing they were involved with his dad’s death? I don’t know. I do think he is a moron.

    I also found this interesting:
The Rev. Warren Blakney Sr., president of the Tulsa NAACP, said the arrests came as a big relief. Black community leaders had met Friday night amid fear over the shootings and concerns about possible vigilantism in retaliation.

The shooting done by these two morons was retaliation. What do you call retaliation against retaliation? Re-retaliation? And why is it every time a black is a victim by the hand of another race there has to be a (potential) riot? Locally, I heard (on the radio) there was a shooting of a mexican gang member by a black gang member. No, trayvon’s name was not in the story, it was about drug territories. Yet no riots are planned.

Here is another opinion. Based on the available information I believe these two morons are guilty. Notice I do not separate the shooter from the accomplice. I hope that if found guilty they receive the maximum possible sentence.

On a mostly unrelated note, lao has an opinion (and posted it) of other posters, but expects that his links he posts are not to be taken as his opinion as well? Strange disconnect.

  • lao

There’s no disconnect at all frankie. You are not thinking the concept of why people post links through.

For example, @8:27 pm I posted a link to inmate information on Jacob Carl England.

Obviously, the intent was to provide the official record that has been released by the authorities. I have no idea if the information contained in that document is accurate and holding me accountable if something there is later demonstrated to be wrong, is plain ignorance.

Similarly, if I post a media report about an event, I’m providing information. Once again, I have no personal connection to the person writing the piece or the media outlet they represent. I have no personal knowledge as to the accuracy of their report. It’s obvious to everyone that media slant their stories. Sometimes I cite a left leaning source, sometimes a right leaning source. I chose to cite FOX @6:33 am yesterday. I could as easily have selected CNN or some blog.

Similarly, if I post an opinion piece, I do so because, more often than not, the writer is expressing views in a way I had not considered. I may, or may not, accept those views. I have posted links to far right rants that I consider laughable or to sites like stormfront to demonstrate what the extremist view on an issue is.

I post links to provide background information. Is that any different from the multiple links that bobby or J or henry or SR or AC post here daily?

If discussion on a topic I linked ensues, then I may or may not choose to express my personal views on the subject.

bobby’s absurd claim that I vehemently deny that I express any opinion here, is demonstrably false, given my long-standing presence expressing my contrary point of view on this blog.

  • Tim from TK

    lao lies:

“Obviously, the intent was to provide the official record that has been released by the authorities. I have no idea if the information contained in that document is accurate and holding me accountable if something there is later demonstrated to be wrong, is plain ignorance.”

Pure crap, your MO of late it to scour the internet looking for an instance where you think some “white” person or persons have done something to one of your protected classes, and post a link.

Then, when facts do not bear out your preconceived notions of the alleged perpetrator, you backpedal like a madman, e.g., your post from which the quote above was taken.

Why you post these links is because a) it is your long standing thesis that only “right” wing persons commit acts of violence, and b) you are a sad, pathetic little person, pushing a narrative, and fearful of anything that conflicts with your deranged worldview.

Actually, in a manner of speaking, I WAS! Though it’s not alcohol or drugs – I stay completely away from both.

Apparently lao has the power to read minds and discern what other people were thinking. I’ve told him, more than once, explained to him IN DETAIL what I was thinking & what I meant when I wrote what I wrote. Because he’s desperate to avoid admitting what a huge mistake he made in misinterpreting what I said, because he’s desperate to try to make me look bad after being destroyed time and time again when he tries to engage in a battle of wits with no weapon or ammunition, he’s still bitterly clinging to his own false interpretations of things and even is busy setting up straw men (I didn’t say those things he uses as examples, which he DELIBERATELY constructs to falsify his own proposition – talk about MENTAL MASTURBATION!) to support his specious arguments!

Keep it up lao, because, as I’ve told you several times, we’re not laughing WITH you, we’re laughing AT you.

And those posts lao is crowing about, all mocking and deriding him? More proof that the best lao can do is hope for negative attention.

You know that is a mental disorder, lao.

I’m sure there are sycophants you can find. Why do you keep seeking negative attention from us? Only you can interpret 13 out of 14 posts who’s sole purpose is to expose you as the pathetic clown you are as something that proves you’re important.

But, if that’s how pathetic you life situation has become, by all means, stick around for more!

Why I’m posted about you? Because it was a slow news night and your return to this place where you are clearly unwelcome simply inspired me to state a few things about you that I’d been kicking around for a while now. When I wasn’t kicking you around, that is.

And thanks for finally expressing an opinion and proving me 100% right in virtually everything I’ve ever ACTUALLY said about you, if not the things you’ve made up that I allegedly, but never actually said about you.

Funny, ever time we nail you down to the opinions that we insist you DO present based on the things you post, you demand quotes and say that all you did was post links and that your opinion was never expressed.

Or do you care to lie, again, and claim that is not the case?

You’re going beyond being funny again – denying reality as you so often do. I’m beginning to believe you’re a threat to yourself and others.

Turn yourself in before you’re the subject of the next moonbat gone crazy story we link here, lao.

The difference between us, lao, is that we admit we post links to stories that, in part or in full, express our points of view on things or, in some cases, to stories we ridicule as the mentally ill points of view of people like you.

By the way, lao, you answered ONE of SEVERAL questions I asked you. You lied, I point out, when you did that. But at least you answered.

How about a new question: Does it upset you that the apparent shooter in the OK case is a “person of color”, not white? I know that will be overlooked by most of those like you who are screaming for England’s blood.

It actually goes beyond that. He tries to represent as fact his false belief only CONSERVATIVE/REPUBLICAN/TEA PARTY whites are a threat to themselves and others.

  • FrankW

So lao is just another alphabet network? And just like NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, or even Fox he expects us to believe he nothing more than an observer with no slant whatsoever?
When you post, unless stated otherwise, you are going to be presumed, inferred, or assumed (pick whatever word fits the mood) that you agree with the direction of the story. I have not seen you post once anything that supports the conservative side of the spectrum. I may have missed that occurrence (I was with my pet unicorn that day). If you are just the unbiased news source you insinuate you would by random chance have posted a conservatives are good type link by now (I know, you posted one and my unicorn ate it).

  • lao

frankie, during the San Diego Tea Party Rapist discussion I posted a number of links to San Diego Tea Party websites. I presume those would qualify as good conservative sites.

And why did I do that you might ask? Let’s pause for bobby’s whine:

Hey lao, didn’t hear you crowing much once the “investigation” in the case of the former San Diego tea party spokesman ended up with him released and all charges dropped.

Care to finally give us your actual opinion on that without being a coward and hiding behind the words of others to give yourself cover?

You don’t pay attention do you bobby?

lao says: March 30, 2012 at 10:01 pm

So, now (Kobulnicky) is finally out. Charges were laid and now they are dropped when new evidence (the accuser recanting) was revealed.

Of course, bobby ignores what his main concern was when that story broke. You can follow all the hoops he jumped through here:

    Open Thread

    Here’s another quote of mine:
lao says: March 18, 2012 at 1:14 pm
The actual issue here, as I knew it would be, is the frantic efforts of conservatives to provide cover for themselves when providing cover was not even necessary.

You COULD have responded, “what a horrible crime, if he’s found guilty I hope they throw the book at him!”.

    That would have been that.

Naturally, the emphasis instead has been on multiple long-winded posts claiming the guy is NOT a Tea Party member, that his organization is somehow not legitimate, that there is no such thing as a Tea Party “leader” etc. Now bobby is even quibbling about geography and what “near” means.

    Very amusing.

“The actual issue here, as I knew it would be, is the frantic efforts of conservatives to provide cover for themselves when providing cover was not even necessary.”

As lao states, “providing cover was not even necessary”.

So his false belief and claim anyone WAS doing that stands as more of his own lies he now admits.

It is still fun to watch lao shoot himself in the foot.

Let us see if we can help him do it some more, shall we?
