Small uptick in radioactive iodine, apparently due to Fukushima, in kelp at some locations along the CA coast but no evidence of any health risk. Apparently similar slight increases were seen further north on the west coast after Chernobyl.

NOTE: This story is from March 17. There was another one published more recently, today in fact, as if the L.A. Times has some need to play up this story now that they’ve realized they’re only digging themselves in deeper and dehydrating themselves trying to squeeze more water from the Zimmerman/Martin case.

So the sacrificial lamb may not be enough? Yeah, NBC’s use of a scapegoat may not be the end of this sordid tale.

the blatant, racially charged distortion of George Zimmerman’s 911 call started on NBC 6 Miami on March 19, appearing in two articles by three different writers. It was repeated on March 20 in an article attributed to one of the three writers. The articles have been updated, but the quotes remain. The mis-quote aired on the Today Show on March 22 during a live segment with reporter Lilia Luciano, and again on March 27 with reporter Ron Allen.

For NBC and MSNBC to characterize the error as a single episode caused by a producer’s time constraints in getting a video clip ready for live morning television, which just unfortunately happened to be missed by layers of editorial control, is not very convincing.

    Trayvon and Crystal Mangum

“Trayvon and Tawana,” (http://bit.ly/HskbLq), drew a number of parallels between the shooting of Trayvon Martin and the 1987 racial hoax perpetrated by Tawana Brawley and aided and abetted by career African-American agitator, Rev. Al Sharpton.

Just as Martin’s shooting by George Zimmerman has created a firestorm of protests against assumed racist profiling and bigotry, Brawley’s case was accompanied by the involvement of Sharpton and others of his ilk seeking publicity and an unquenchable thirst for racial unrest.

Just as with Trayvon Martin, the bases of Brawley’s claims were false, a tissue of lies that unraveled under official scrutiny.

Both Tawana Brawley’s inflammatory and destructively false accusations and those of Crystal Mangum provided templates for the never-ending campaign to tar white Americans as hateful bigots in the face of facts that prove the exact reverse.

Crystal Gail Mangum, an enterprising, black 27 year old student at North Carolina Central University, helped pay the bills by working as an “escort” and stripper for her pimps at the Allure Escort Service.

Long, seamy story short: Mangum was hired by members of the Duke University lacrosse team to “perform” for them at their off-campus residence for $800. She showed up gloriously drunk, and engaged in 5 minutes of lesbian groping with another “escort,” an Asian-American named Kim Roberts.

Mangum proceeded to exchange words with the team, exited in a huff, stormed around the house shouting and half-naked before driving off into the night with her associate whom she soon tried to kick out of the car, and was subsequently taken into custody by Durham, N.C. police.

Actually, that wasn’t the end of the story. It was more the beginning of a misbegotten tale of fantasy rape, manufactured deceit, and baseless charges of racism and violence, all of which were later disproven.

It was also the disgraceful tale of a district attorney who lied repeatedly and a prestigious university that opted to believe a prostitute rather than its own students in the interests of political correctness. . .

Unfortunately we are running woefully short of trustworthy parties here. Government regulators have obvious agendas that they are trying to push. Academia used to pursue facts and understanding, have allowed themselves to be corrupted by leftist, green philosophies, as well as by what “findings” will result in more grant money.

The media (corporations themselves) used to believe in journalism…presenting actual facts in an impartial way, have been taken over by “advocacy journalists” (again a complete perversion of the concept of journalism). Often times they simply carry water for the government administrators.

I’d prefer the plain, unvarnished, unadulterated facts, but those are tough to dig out.

    What would be your suggestion?

    For anyone that cares….

The reason (IMHO) that the Democrat controlled Senate does not bring a budget to the floor for passage is that would open the door to Congress defunding 0bamaCare……

As long as we are operating under a “continuing resolution budget” 0bamaCare moves forward…..and Democrats are playing out the clock hoping that 0bamaCare will be implemented before a conservative Congress and President can be elected.

Republicans should shut this “mother” down the next time the Democrats talk “continuing resolution.”

That reminds me of a great play my church just put on for Maundy Thursday. The idea was Da Vinci (Played excellently by one of our pastors) talking about the thought that went into his painting the Last Supper, with each disciple (Played by other men in our church, with the senior pastor playing Thomas) sharing a story or two from his own POV before getting into their respective positions around the table in the painting. It was very inspirational.

So what is Lao going to do, now that the Prosecutor in Florida will not send the Trayvon Martin case to the Grand Jury?

Lao, are you satisfied with the investigation and are you going to accept it’s findings?

  • lao

Choosing not to send the case to a grand jury means that a charge of first degree murder is not an option.

The special prosecutor’s investigations are continuing and I’ll await her decision.

  • StanInTexas

But will you accept it, Lao?

  • lao

Will you accept the results of the presidential election in November?

  • StanInTexas

Typical Lao… refuses to answer a question, but then demands that we answer his off-topic rant.

I have my answer, thanks Coward.

  • lao

stanwee, you have had my answer to your oft-repeated question over and over again. I don’t know what the special prosecutor is going to decide and neither do you. You have not said you will accept her decision and I have no problem with that. I will comment on her decision when it is announced. If that’s not good enough for you, squeak on.

  • StanInTexas

Lao, you have NEVER answered my question. In fact, you have loudly and proudly REFUSED to answer it. That tells us all we need to know.

You and your ilk will ONLY accept a verdict of GUILTY for Zimmerman, facts be damned.

  • lao

Thank you for once again employing your psychic powers to read my mind, reality be damned.

By the way stanwee, a verdict of guilty requires charges and a trial first. At this point we don’t even know if charges will be laid. I understand these small details are difficult for you to grasp.

  • StanInTexas

Perhaps the simplicity of my question, requiring only a YES or NO answer and not your usual multi-post diatribe, is where your problem lies, Lao.

No matter. As you have said, we have your answer. At least you are no longer childishly pretending my question does not exist.

    On to better topics…
So Lao, what are your thoughts on the black youths that beat an elderly WHITE man while shouting “This is for Trayvon”? Hate crime or not?

  • lao

Thanks for your morning squeaking stanwee, we will now return to our regular music program.

  • StanInTexas

It’s an open thread Lao. And as you said, you have already answered my previous question.

Care to take a shot at my new question, Lao, or will we need several weeks of your quisling and ignoring me for you to post an answer to a YES or NO question?

Obama holds key leads on Romney, as economy malaise looms over reelection bid

Romney faces a huge deficit among female voters, one that more than negates his advantage among men and represents one of the biggest challenges he and his advisers face as they turn toward the November election. Obama’s edge among women gives him a clear lead among all registered voters in a matchup with Romney.

But on the two most pressing issues of the campaign — the economy and jobs — the contest is considerably more competitive, with about as many trusting Romney on the issues as Obama.

Miss Universe to allow transgender contestants

The Miss Universe pageant is changing its rules to allow transgender women to take part in all of its competitions starting in 2013, the organisation and gay rights group Glaad has announced.

The decision follows a media outcry over the disqualification of Canadian contestant Jenna Talackova from the Miss Universe Canada contest because she was not a “naturally born female”.

Talackova 23, who underwent gender reassignment surgery when she was 19, was reinstated to the competition last week by Donald Trump, who owns the Miss Universe organisation. Talackova has a Canadian passport, driver’s licence and other documents that identify her as a woman.

Hint #2: Surgery + hormones = impressive changes in anatomy. I hear tell that testosterone will produce facial hair and muscle mass, and estrogen will make your breasts grow. I’m wondering if the media will provide an outcry if these hormones aren’t allowed to improve the performance of athletes in the upcoming Olympics.

Hint #3: Those who believe in science believe that human DNA is determinative in whether one is a male or a female. Those who don’t believe in science apparently become liberals.

Sanford police car shot near Trayvon Martin scene OK so who do you think did this? Some “white” (i.e. Hispanic) guy?

A Sanford police car parked near the Trayvon Martin shooting scene was found Tuesday morning with several bullet holes in it, according to authorities.

The cruiser was parked across the street from the Retreat at Twin Lakes apartment complex in the parking lot of Bentley Elementary School. Sanford police said the marked vehicle was shot around 4:30 a.m. Gunfire shattered a passenger window and at least two bullets pierced the front windshield. Witnesses said they heard six shots.

Man tells police group yelled ‘Trayvon,’ then beat him

“We do believe that the crime was racially motivated,” Gainesville Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Angelina Valuri said.

The assailants were black, while the victim is white, Valuri said.

COWARDS: Police are investigating the “racially motivated” beating of a 27-year-old man who was walking home from midtown bars early Saturday when he said he was jumped by five to eight men who shouted “Trayvon” before the attack.

REMEMBER: Zimmerman, a HISPANIC was only forced to resort to use of deadly force when Martin viciously attacked and tried to seriously injure or kill him.

And finally, from lunatic liberal land: Officer asked if they were alright and got no verbal answer. Victim looked right at Officer and with tears coming down his face shook his head from right to left and back indicating no.

When police responded early Monday morning, they found the male students circled in the basement, stripped to their underwear. ll five were shivering and had horrified and fearful looks on their faces. They were all tied together via duct tape wrist to wrist to form a human chain. Police say several condiment-type items were poured on the students, including flour, coffee grinds, fish sauce, chili sauce, honey, hot sauce, mustard, and empty sardine cans. The students also had red welts on their backs, investigators said, indicating that they may have been beaten.

However, I wouldn’t expect a homosexual pedophile to understand this anyway.

    —————-
Not sure what your point in posting this is, except perhaps if it’s to point out the absurdity of British laws with respect to extradition.

Apparently some claimed the “prison regime” here was too harsh. Apparently those people have never done time in foreign prisons or ours, as prisoners here often have it better than honest, taxpaying citizens.

Then again, for all those people who say instead of the death penalty we should simply give life sentences without any chance of parole/release, I ask one question: So you’re saying being confined for an indefinite period, the rest of your life, knowing you will never, ever be free isn’t a worse punishment than avoiding that by being put to death?

  • Bob Roberts

CAN YOU SAY “HYPOCRITE”: Obama to call for higher taxes on millionaires, then collect $15K per head. Will it be mostly whites? Will he talk about how, if he had a son, his son would look like Treyvon?

  • StanInTexas

Bob, there is a reason why Liberals prefer life without parole to the death penalty.

It is because, so long as the scumbag is alive, they can judge-shop until they find one that will commute the sentence. Then they can get the murderers paroled or outright released.

Every anti-death penalty person I have ever talked to says that as soon as they get rid of the death penalty, they will immediately begin the same campaign against life without parole. They are against punishing the guilty.
