    Anti-Christianity in the News

The age-old admonition against ever discussing religion or politics never held any water, except maybe for atheists and for those who consider politicians spawns of the devil.

Especially in A.D. 2012, with the first serious Mormon candidate running for president, a president who is desperate to establish his Christian bona fides in the face of continuing doubts, and Rep. Paul Ryan saying on Tuesday that his Catholic faith is the foundation of his budget plan, religion has taken center stage in America although that stage is noticeably tilted against Romney and Ryan.

For example, Mitt Romney is often subjected to negative stereotyping and commentary from both the left and the right because of his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, reactions that haven’t been seen in this country since the first Roman Catholic ran for the presidency fifty years ago.

Indeed, it would seem that all Christians come under greater scrutiny than adherents to other faiths, which has given rise to charges that there is a war on Christianity raging in America, a war apparent to any thinking person.

What do New York Jets quarterback Jeff Tebow, former sitcom star Kirk Cameron, and “American Idol” hopeful Colton Dixon have in common? Actually, all three share the same distinctions of being devout Christians–and all have been roundly criticized for their beliefs.

Tebow, of course, is the most visible figure among them and has been attacked for his outward displays of faith since his days as a Florida Gator through his two years with the Denver Broncos. Since his trade last month to New York, the belly of the liberal beast, many sports pundits have ramped up their ridicule and critiques and have gleefully predicted he will fail miserably.

However, failure doesn’t exist in Tebow’s playbook any more than the thought of changing either his character or altering his public demeanor exists.

Tebow took his show on the road to celebrate Easter Sunday to Georgetown, Texas, appropriately at the Celebration Church where he delivered a heartfelt sermonette in the form of a Q and A session with the pastor before a congregation estimated at 30,000 faithful.

The gist of his sentiments was reflected in his proud admission that he said, “Win or lose, it is most important that I honor my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.” (http://bit.ly/Hzkqa0)

Not that it would bother Tebow but that line will surely be seized on by his detractors the first time he throws an interception or the Jets lose a game.

It’s doubtful Kirk Cameron can toss a football as far as Tim Tebow but he created almost as big a stir when he frankly expressed his Christian moral views last Friday on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

Cameron tread where few celebs would dare to go when the”Growing Pains” star and now a Born Again Christian gave his opinion on abortion and gay marriage.

Concurring with millions of other Americans, Cameron believes abortion is “wrong, under any circumstances. I think that someone who is ultimately willing to murder a child, even to fix another tragic and devastating situation–like rape or incest or things like that–is not taking the moral highroad.”

He may have gotten away with that statement but his non-politically correct Christian view that homosexuality is a perversion, without using that term, caused an uproar from the ultra-liberal, pro-gay set. Cameron forthrightly said, “I think that it’s unnatural . . . (Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=21241.)

  • Bob Roberts

Of course, when you point out that homosexuality is “unnatural” they come back with “Other animals do it”.

Yes, they do, that is true.

They engage in acts of homosexual rape as a means of establishing dominance and submission.

So are we saying THAT is natural, I ask them?

They generally have no answer at that point.

  • Bob Roberts

THE PROBLEM, WHEN YOU LIE, IS YOU CAN’T KEEP TRACK OF YOUR LIES:

President Obama, who famously called for tax increases on the wealthy to “spread the wealth around,” denied today that his tax increases on the rich are an attempt to “redistribute wealth.”

Of course lao makes a valiant attempt to keep track of HIS lies by indexing all the threads and posts here.

Stunning lack of diversity’ in Obama’s re-election campaign.

And, against the backdrop of a terrorist organization putting a bounty on the head of a U.S. Citizen and the U.S. Justice Department doing NOTHING about it, the Martin family is afraid that Zimmerman won’t be found.

Apparently they’ve found additional evidence that Martin DID attack Zimmerman and Zimmerman DID fire in self-defense.

    OBAMANOMICS: Stocks plummet.

Obama palling around with “the 1%”.

Uh, you see, um, the victim was white and the criminals were black. To be a hate crime the victim must be black and the criminals white!

If they only knew how their claims like these PROVE how stupid THEY ARE! Ever notice how people who have this overpowering need to prove they’re smarter than someone else… aren’t? And they know it – that’s what drives them to do it!

OBAMANOMICS: Thanks to Obama and the Democrats, if you thought Europe’s debt crisis was a mess, wait until you see ours!

America has the dubious distinction of being home to several of the world’s worst climate alarmists. At NASA people are finally starting to rebel against James Hanson, who is one of them.

Unfortunately, tell the truth and you get fired. So it was left up to 50 scientists & former NASA employees to make the necessary appeal to Charles Bolden, NASA Administrator:

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites. We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.

The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements.

As former NASA employees, we feel that NASA’s advocacy of an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate. We request that NASA refrain from including unproven and unsupported remarks in its future releases and websites on this subject. At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself.

For additional information regarding the science behind our concern, we recommend that you contact Harrison Schmitt or Walter Cunningham, or others they can recommend to you.

Thank you for considering this request.

Angela Corey to present new information in Trayvon Martin case

So this is it. Either she’s going to be courageous and release definitive evidence that Martin brought this on himself and, as unfortunate as his death is, nobody is to blame for it but him, or she is bowing to political pressure all the way from the White House and will release some manufactured evidence to try to railroad Zimmerman. I’m anxious to see what it is but the fact she didn’t just release it, the fact she’s saying it will happen in 72 hours, suggests she’s trying for maximum effect in a circus sort of way so that does not bode well. Why the delay? What purpose is served, now that she claims to have new information that needs to be released, in failing to do so for ANY hours, let alone 72?

I asked one determined socialist just what he had against the free market capitalist system. “Overproduction” was his amazing answer. His sole complaint was that free market capitalism causes us to have too many goods, too many choices, the ability to go to well stocked stores and choose what we wanted instead of finding the shelves bare or stocked with only limited quantities of low-quality merchandise, such as that we are curiously buying in large quantities from China daily today.

As recently as 1990, shortages of the most simple, basic commodities were still being reported in that bastion of socialism, Russia.

And here’s an image of a Cuban store. Look carefully – this is what the socialists want to be our reality. But, under socialism, don’t worry, the government provides.

Here’s an example of the government distributing bread – note the bread they have to distribute.

    ————–
And here’s the crowd waiting for their bread. Note that they pass the bread through a cage so, when the bread runs out and most of the people gathering still have none, the resulting riot won’t injure those who were passing out the meager supply of bread that socialism provides.

    OH LOOK!

We even have one of the Cuban “1%” running off with “his share”! But why aren’t “the 99%” “redistributing” his wealth?

The Obama regime is proposing “The Buffet Rule”, a plan to make sure every millionaire pays at least a 30% tax rate. If you do the math, this will bring in an additional 5.1 billion dollars.

Now this regime claims their goals are fairness and eliminating the federal deficit. Oddly enough, they admit the Buffet Rule will not reduce the deficit or the debt. They’re focusing on the word “fair”. It’s “fair”.

“The Obama administration is emphasizing ‘fairness’ over deficit reduction in its renewed pitch for the ‘Buffett Rule’ ahead of next week’s scheduled Senate vote. Introducing a minimum 30 percent income tax on millionaires ‘was never our plan to bring the deficit down and get the debt under control,’ Jason Furman, the principal deputy director of the White House National Economic Council, told reporters on a conference call Monday afternoon.

I have a better idea. Cut 1% from the budget of every federal agency. This would save $33.5 billion dollars, almost seven times what the Buffett Rule would generate from “fairness” with none of the resulting jobs & revenue loss. Heck, why not make it 5%? Or 10%!

  • Bob Roberts

“Most small businesses pay taxes at the individual income tax level,” Bush said, adding that 70 percent of new jobs in America are created by small businesses. “Therefore, if you raise taxes on the so-called rich, you’re really raising taxes on the job creators.”

    Re bobby @7:48 am.

    Too, too funny.

bobby, the perpetual whiner, has been conducting Trial By Blog on this issue ever since it happened. He has redundantly pontificated over and over and over again about how he has THE FACTS and therefore the case is a slam dunk in Zimmerman’s favor.

It should be no surprise that the special prosecutor investigating the case would, once the inquiry is complete, have the very best picture of exactly what happened, including information that has not been released to the media.

That is to say, unlike bobby, the special prosecutor, actually will have ALL the facts.

This notion disturbs poor bobby immensely. He wants all the information the special prosecutor has to be released now, on the grounds that waiting to release the information means she’s trying for maximum effect in a circus sort of way…

With that remark, it’s easy to understand that bobby has already pre-judged the outcome.

bobby goes on to confirm he has two scenarios that he’s already decided on.

    1) Zimmerman is innocent and Martin’s death was his own fault.

    2) Zimmerman will be charged with something because the special prosecutor is bowing to political pressure all the way from the White House and will release some manufactured evidence to try to railroad Zimmerman.

It looks like bobby has answered the question that stanwee has repeatedly tossed at me. bobby has declared he will only accept ONE result of the special prosecutor’s investigation.

Meanwhile, I will wait up to 72 hours to see what the special prosecutor has to say.

    ———-
Apparently lao has a problem with me only being willing to accept THE TRUTH. He’s much more flexible. He will not only accept LIES, he expects and desires them.

The problem is when you hear about “new” information in a case like this, there are strong odds that “new” information is manufactured information.

However, as lao failed to note, I also gave a scenario where the “new” information was more FACTS and TRUTH.

Of course lao shoots himself in the foot yet again. He points out that I’m merely restating what we already know: This event didn’t turn into a life or death struggle until Martin made the deliberate choice to push it to that level.

ALL the evidence that existed before the politicians and racists got involved pointed to one thing: Zimmerman’s innocence. I was reasonable – I am giving the prosecutor the chance to be honest about this and I hope that is what she is going to do. But the word “new” and the context of it’s use could mean that she’s decided to go ahead and serve Zimmerman up as a scapegoat. I hope not, seriously. I hope she’s doing the right thing. That is also possible. We shall see sometime in the next 72 hours.

    Anyone know her political persuasion?

And, lao, I’ve NEVER engaged in “trial by blog” because this case was already investigated and closed long before it ever surfaced on the blogs. It’s ass-clowns like you who are engaging in trial by blog while hiding behind your fake “wait and see” attitude as you hope someone, somewhere, manages to trump up some fake evidence.

I hope against hope that the prosecutor is honest and fair.

    We shall see.

  • Bob Roberts

Another of those uncomfortable events lao and the racists are ignoring.

On April 3, residents in the 10200 block of Scepter Circle reported that someone had taped a black and white photo of Trayvon Martin, with the word “Revenge” in red, to several mailboxes.

In a separate incident, a resident in the 10200 block of West St. Martins Road reported two stickers were placed on his mailbox, one with a picture of Trayvon Martin with “Revenge” written in red, the other was a fist that said “Kill Whitey.”

  • StanInTexas

Bob, why do you think the residents of that neighborhood want to “Kill Whitey” when it was a Hispanic Democrat that shot Trayvon?

  • Bob Roberts

I want to stress that it’s entirely possible they went back and found proof on Martin’s corpse that he did hit Zimmerman (signs on his knuckles) and that he did try to beat his head onto the ground to kill him (skin under his fingernails, or fibers from Zimmerman’s clothes) and this could well be the “new evidence” we’re talking about.

    We shall see.

Because Obama needs a race war to distract us from his dismal record of failure so, since he needs him to be, Zimmerman is no longer a “person of color” but is rather a “white guy” because it’s politically expedient for him to be so.

  • Bob Roberts

BTW, looking into Ms. Corey, I have reason to believe she’s going to fail to bow to political pressure and she’s going to be fair and honest. I hope she does not let us down. In the current climate, being fair and honest will be difficult and courageous.

I have listened to The Presidents remarks and statements on TV today and his request to write my Congressman on taxing the rich relating to his so-called “Buffet Rule”.

I believe this is just a big scam by him, just like cap & trade, climate change and Agenda 21. Taxing the rich more at higher rates is class warfare being created just like Nazi Germany did and even if taxes were raised, it will not cover any deficits that we have. Just cut spending and the country will get back on track. Very simple.

    TaterSalad,

The call by Obama and others to Tax The Rich™ is a pure smokescreen. What they intend to do is simple. They will raise taxes on everyone while silently installing a few loopholes that only the super-wealthy and their legion of tax lawyers will be able to navigate.

Then the tax burden will increase on all taxpayers, and Obama can say he made the rich pay their “fair share”.

Bob Roberts says: April 11, 2012 at 9:01 am
Can YOU explain why, if there’s some vital new information that will break this case wide open, Ms. Corey didn’t just give it to us? What is the reason for an up to 72 hour wait? What purpose does that serve, what excuse for that can possibly be given?

Bob Roberts says: April 11, 2012 at 9:06 am
ALL the evidence that existed before the politicians and racists got involved pointed to one thing: Zimmerman’s innocence. I was reasonable – I am giving the prosecutor the chance to be honest about this and I hope that is what she is going to do. But the word “new” and the context of it’s use could mean that she’s decided to go ahead and serve Zimmerman up as a scapegoat.

Bob Roberts says: April 11, 2012 at 9:08 am
Apparently lao has a problem with my going on record as saying I won’t accept lies and manufactured evidence, but rather demand TRUTH and HONESTY.

  • Bob Roberts

Maybe the announcement is they promised Zimmerman that if he cops to a minor charge with little or no incarceration, even though he’s innocent, they won’t bow to political pressure and throw the book at him.

  • Bob Roberts

Gee lao, I’m trying to be fair and pointing out that there could be multiple ways, some honest, some not so much, about what the prosecutor is doing.

I still see no “conflict” there, as, even though you’ve carefully taken my statements out of context, you still included enough to show I was talking about POSSIBILITIES which were based on whether she was hanging tough or giving in to pressure. I, too, openly stated that I hoped she would be honest and do her job but I’m also well aware that there is a lot of pressure on her to NOT do that and I’m stating that, at this point, it could go either way.

There’s no conflict there – I was describing different scenarios depending on if she stands tall or breaks under the pressure.

  • Bob Roberts

And I stand by my statement about you, lao – you haven’t found a single LIE in ANYTHING I’ve said here on this matter, but you’re STILL LYING about me.

I understand that it’s because you don’t have the mental ability to understand complex scenarios that exist outside your mom’s basement.

But the things you are saying are still untrue – i.e. LIES, and you’re only making a fool of yourself trying to make this about me instead of about those who want to railroad Zimmerman.

So we’re back to the only question that matters – have they manufactured new evidence, or are they now in possession of additional evidence that conclusively proves what ALL the existing, known evidence does: That Martin viciously attacked Zimmerman and Zimmerman had no choice but to defend himself with the only means available.

In any case, Zimmerman was under a lot of pressure too – I would not be surprised if they got to him & talked him into making a bad deal in order to “defuse the situation”. You know, “Take one for the team”, maybe by telling him it was his fault just like those playing “trial by blog”, LIKE YOU, hiding behind your dishonest claims, are doing.

    You’re not fooling anyone.

  • Noelegy

Why don’t they just turn the Martin/Zimmerman case over to CSI: Miami? They solve all cases in less than an hour……..*puts shades on*

    YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

  • lao

    LOL!!!

bobby sez: I’m trying to be fair and pointing out that there could be multiple ways, some honest, some not so much, about what the prosecutor is doing.

If you were ACTUALLY “trying to be fair” then you would understand that the prosecutor being “fair and honest” COULD mean the option of legitimately charging Zimmerman because that’s what the evidence demands.

If you were “trying to be fair” you would not portray the charges option as:

    - bowing to political pressure all the way from the White House

release some manufactured evidence to try to railroad Zimmerman.

-go ahead and serve Zimmerman up as a scapegoat.

  • Sinister66

Looks like a he is getting charged for second degree murder but will likely get manslaughter kinda like Donald Rattanavong even though the circumstances are different.

  • FrankW

The options lao presented are a possibility as well, could be political pressure, could be some faked evidence, he may indeed be a scapegoat in order to appease the obama core voters.
Given the interference of bammy and the other race baiters any verdict, either way could be suspect. At this point finding him guilty and putting him in a country club prison in Wyoming may be the only way to save Zimmerman’s life.

If you were ACTUALLY “trying to be fair” then you would understand that the prosecutor being “fair and honest” COULD mean the option of legitimately charging Zimmerman because that’s what the evidence demands.

    —————-

    WRONG!

The evidence was already in, unless new “evidence” has been manufactured.

ALL the evidence, before the racists got involved, pointed the same way.

There was ZERO evidence to support even THINKING about arresting or charging Zimmerman.

You are forgetting, lao, that this case occurred MONTHS ago and was THOROUGHLY investigated prior to the entry of the racists, prior to YOUR first mention of it here.

There was PLENTY of evidence that ALL proved, BEYOND ANY DOUBT that Zimmerman only shot Martin <b)TO SAVE HIS OWN LIFE AFTER MARTIN VICIOUSLY ATTACKED HIM WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CAUSE TO DO SO.

There is NO logical, fair, honest scenario leading to ANY charges against Zimmerman, and EVERYONE knows it. The only chance that charges will come forward will be due to the deliberate incitement of racial animosity, and the irony there is ZIMMERMAN IS HISPANIC, NOT “WHITE” – well, then again, if you really want to split hairs, one might say HE IS EXACTLY AS WHITE AS IS OBAMA!

You’ve really outdone yourself with YOUR lies this time, lao. Clearly I am presenting scenarios here – one where the honest evidence is presented so justice can be done, the other where the deliberations were tainted due to the real potential for race riots if Zimmerman’s head isn’t served up. Now you’ve slipped and revealed something, lao:

“If you were ACTUALLY “trying to be fair” then you would understand that the prosecutor being “fair and honest” COULD mean the option of legitimately charging Zimmerman because that’s what the evidence demands.”

Those are your words – and those words reveal you actually ARE one of those who is hoping to see Zimmerman’s head on a platter, see his blood spilled for no other reason than he defended himself against a vicious punk hooligan thug who was intent on murdering him.

  • Bob Roberts

I suspect the pressure got to Zimmerman – he was threatened with a murder charge and even a potential capital punishment and so he agreed to cop to a lesser charge to avoid it. Yeah, going out on a limb, but from various sources that seems to be a very likely explanation for what is going on.

  • Bob Roberts

During the 2008 presidential campaign, no one spent more time with Barack Obama than Love – not even Obama’s wife, Michelle.

  • Bob Roberts

By the way, the word is out: Second degree murder charge, without any honest evidence to support such a charge and plenty to prove it wrong. No wonder they didn’t want to send it to a (grand) jury of his peers, which was their first mistake.

  • lao

    LOL!!!

ALL CAPS and BOLD means nothing in a court of law bobby.

As expected, the far right Trial By Blog will continue.

    @4:48 is priceless!!

Rejecting the use of a grand jury meant that a first degree murder charge was off the table.

Second degree murder is the most severe charge that could be laid. Zimmerman didn’t get a chance to “agree to cop to a lesser charge”, he got charged, period.

Your “very likely explanation” displays that you have no idea what you are talking about.

    An important point.

    And here’s another bit:

Zimmerman’s new attorney, Mark O’Mara, said Zimmerman will plead not guilty and will invoke Florida’s “stand your ground” law, which gives people wide leeway to use deadly force without having to retreat in the face of danger. The lawyer asked that people not jump to conclusions about his client’s guilt and said he is “hoping that the community will calm down” now that charges have been filed.

About the jumping to conclusions, too late:

    QUOTE:

What evidence? There is NO SUCH EVIDENCE – all the evidence pointed towards NO CHARGES, which is why there were NO CHARGES for MONTHS until the racists got involved.

  • lao

LOL!!! Rave on bobby. The special prosecutor believes they have grounds for proving, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Zimmerman is guilty of second degree murder. Evidence for this will be presented in the eventual trial. Meanwhile, naturally, you will spew, over and over and over and over, all caps claims that NO SUCH EVIDENCE exists.

Thanks for your opinion bobby. Maybe you should contact Zimmerman’s lawyers and offer them your expertise.

Had there not been an arrest and a charge you know they would have exploded and Obama would have the race riots he craves. I can say CONFIDENTLY that NO SUCH EVIDENCE EXISTS because THIS PROSECUTOR PROMISED TO PRESENT IT, THEN DID NOT.

What possible motive could there be for her to promise to present it, then go back on that promise?

Only one – BECAUSE NO SUCH EVIDENCE EXISTS.

And on your claim I should contact Zimmerman’s lawyers, actually that’s not a bad idea. Very possible that the case will be dismissed for lack of evidence in the preliminary phases.

  • Bob Roberts

Martin’s family (apparently his mom) is saying “We just wanted an arrest”, so I guess since they got what they want it’s time to go ahead and start planning to drop the trumped up charges and let Zimmerman go.

  • Bob Roberts

Feb. 26: Fatal shooting – no arrest, no charges. Investigation (end date not given), based on ALL physical and eyewitness evidence, concludes Zimmerman was attacked by Martin and shot him to save his own life during a life or death struggle initiated by Martin. Investigation is closed.

March 16: 911 tapes released, corroborate Zimmerman account – though media deliberately edits them to inject a racist storyline.

March 19: Due to increasing public pressure from racists and politicians, the usual suspects, “new” investigation launched.

    March 22 – prosecutor appointed.

March 24: Threats against Zimmerman. Bounty promised. Calls for formation of lynch mobs.

April 11: Zimmerman charged with 2nd degree murder, new evidence promised by prosecutor which allegedly supports that charge is not presented as promised, Zimmerman turns himself in, is booked and is in custody.

It costs no more to provide a court and regulatory system for the rich man, compared with the poor man. Yet almost 50% of Americans do no “pay their fair share” since they pay zero federal income tax, while the top 1% of income earners provide 38% of all federal tax revenue.

The “progressive” income tax system is directly out of the Marxism playbook.

    ———————
You’re lying again. I am the one who announced the fact he was charged and arrested here. How is that “denial”? Only in the ridiculous world of lao!

While you may state, and I will admit, that I did sort of cover all bases, my expectations, plain in my posts prior to the event, were slanted towards my belief the prosecutor would bow to the public lynch mob mentality and other pressures. Sadly, I was correct.

This was confirmed and underlined in her own words, where she spoke of “justice for Treyvon” but not of “justice for George”. George is the one at risk – there’s still a “Dead or Alive” bounty out on his head and no action from Eric Holder and the inJustice Department regarding this blatant violation of Zimmerman’s Civil Rights.

And of course, lao, you couldn’t give a straight answer. I didn’t ask you if you would simply accept the results of his trial. I asked you to answer towards a specific outcome – that the trial process proves what the evidence, all of it, already overwhelmingly shows: That he is INNOCENT.

And, as I predicted, you failed to answer my question then you audaciously ask me a loaded question.

If honest evidence and arguments are all that is given at his trial, if emotion is left out of it, if public and political pressure and, most of all, if racism is kept out of it, then there will be only one outcome that will be easy to accept: A vindication of Zimmerman and an admission that he is innocent despite the very public lynching that has been going on for a month or so now.

There is NO evidence to indicate he is guilty of ANY crime. ALL evidence, and it’s been gone over in detail in public, thanks to the attempts to try Zimmerman in the public, skewed leftist media, time and time again, points to his absolute innocence.

So yeah, if he gets a fair trial I sure will be satisfied with the outcome.

But, now that we’ve seen that he’s being given up as a scapegoat (perhaps with his willing cooperation), as a sacrificial lamb, what are the chances he will get a fair trial?

    I’d say pretty much nonexistent.

And why would Zimmerman allow this and even play along? First, he has to feel bad about the fact Martin is dead even though Martin initiated the life or death struggle and gave him no option but to shoot. Second, he’s watching as more and more blacks are talking about and actually taking part in orgies of violence and destruction. No doubt he’s starting to buy into the false claims it’s somehow all his fault. He’s been described as losing it mentally and I can well understand how he feels given the fact that there’s a bounty on his head, dead or alive. Sometimes you do desperate but foolish things when you get boxed into a corner that tight.

    ___________

Unfortunately once a person is charged with a crime, their life is never the same. First, many times a prosecutor will pile on a bunch of additional charges. These charges serve a couple of purposes. First, if the accused agrees to a plea bargain, then the prosecutor can bargain away many of the additional charges, still leaving plenty to put the accused away for many years.

Second, if the accused chooses to go to trial, if they are found guilty, these additional charges will essentially punish the stupid person for forcing a trial and not taking the plea deal offered.

Third, many jury members have no idea what the term “presumption of innocence” means. They believe that all these fine police officers, etc., wouldn’t be saying all these nasty things about the accused unless the accused had done something bad to justify the accusations. When it is time for the jury to take the case, they, too, may find the accused not guilty on some charges while finding them guilty on a few, kind of like giving both sides something to feel good about.

Am I cynical about the justice system? Yep; I’ve seen innocent people do time they didn’t deserve.

I know what you mean, particularly with your point three. No matter what instructions they get, juries start with a germ of an idea that if the person was innocent they wouldn’t be there in the first place.

    Plus, here’s my own experience:

I was called for jury duty. Downstairs, before I ever got to the courtroom, I told them they might not want to send me to a jury in a criminal trial because I have been involved in multiple cases, I’ve seen how the authorities (from law enforcement through prosecutors, etc.) work, I know how broken the system is and I would not be able to overcome the bias that creates in me.

They didn’t listen. They sent me to a criminal trial AND they selected me to be foreman. They started the voir dire process. They asked me if I thought I could be impartial. I told them, “As I stated downstairs, I don’t believe I can be impartial in a criminal trial”. They asked me why. I told them I didn’t think it would be a good idea to ask me that in front of the other jurors because my answer might tend to taint them. They insisted. I explained it in detail until the judge stopped me and asked me, “Why didn’t you tell them this downstairs”. I replied, “As I told you all at the beginning of my answers, I did. They didn’t listen, and apparently you didn’t either.”

Needless to say I was dismissed from jury duty, which was pretty sad because I was looking forward to serving on a jury IN A CIVIL TRIAL!

  • Bob Roberts

You know, I’m all broke up that Martin, violent punk thug gangsta wannabe that he was, got shot and killed. I do feel for his friends and family but you know, they had plenty of chances to see the road HE chose and to help him change before it got to this. He was headed towards two in the chest or in the head anyway. Zimmerman just got him there a bit quicker.

Someone did pay – the responsible party. Martin chose to change what was a creepy apparent stalking (that’s not even true but we’re just going with the false narrative to get to the punch line) into a life or death struggle and he lost his life as a result.

Have you seen the map of the place where this happened? Do you know he was only a few yards from his home and safety when he chose instead to double back and attack Zimmerman?

Here’s the part that really bothers me. We have a rather neighborhood watch group locally, and I am involved in trying to organize additional neighborhood watch groups. Our motto is “We here, We see, We call” We aren’t the police; we have a very good police department which responds quickly when called, and we specifically avoid patrolling the neighborhood because of the obvious risks involved. We had an unfortunate shooting here a year or so ago involving a neighborhood watch group on patrol.

Here are the coordinates and a description of the points involved:

Clubhouse: N 28.793307° W 81.331080° Zimmerman talks about this in the 911 call – nearby is where he first saw Martin, apparently, and he talks about how there had been some burglaries and this kid was dressed and was acting suspicious and, according to Zimmerman, appeared possibly to be concealing something or carrying something in his waistband. Maybe it was the skittles and ice tea or maybe it was tools similar to those he was caught with at school, whatever.

N 28.793016° W 81.330092° Where Zimmerman parked his vehicle on Twin Trees after Martin first approached him then ran away down a sidewalk between some buildings and in the general direction of the “back gate” (see below), no more than about 400 feet from his home & safety, causing Zimmerman to leave his vehicle to follow. As he exits the vehicle, I think it was, he says, “It’s F’in Cold” which the news media reported as him saying “F’in coon”. This was part of why he was following Martin in the first place. It was a cold night, raining, and Martin was not really that warmly dressed and was loitering suspiciously in an area where there had been recent break ins.

N 28.793085° W 81.329362° Still on the phone with 911, and having just been asked “Are you following him” and being told shortly thereafter “You don’t have to do that”, reported falsely by the media as the dispatcher ordering him not to follow, this is the point where Zimmerman looked down to the south, down the next street over, Retreat View Circle, towards the “back gate” at N 28.791759° W 81.329063° and, seeing nothing, saying something like “they always get away”, he then ended the call after asking the 911 dispatcher to have the police contact him when they arrived. Zimmerman, by both his testimony and the physical evidence, went back towards his vehicle at that point.

Moments later a key eyewitness at N 28.793072° W 81.329620° also made a 911 call stating that he had seen a person fitting the description of Zimmerman on the ground screaming for help as a person fitting the description of Martin on top of him bashing his head against the ground. Zimmerman had clear injuries that back up this eyewitness account, as does his own testimony. The eyewitness further stated that he was going to get his dog and intended to go outside to help Zimmerman when he heard a single gunshot, returned to the window, and saw the person who had been attempting to murder the guy on the ground now laying on the ground and not moving.

Zimmerman’s statement, given shortly after the incident, was that Martin approached him from behind, said something to the effect of “Do you have a problem” to which Zimmerman replied something to the effect of “No” and then Martin said “You do now”, sucker punched him, causing him to go to the ground dazed, then Martin jumped on him and started slamming his head on the sidewalk. Zimmerman called for help and then, seeing no other way to save himself, drew his weapon and shot.

Zimmerman’s injuries support his explanation 100%. The 911 call supports his explanation 100%. The eyewitness supports his explanation 100%. There is absolutely zero evidence that refutes anything Zimmerman has said.

This is an open and shut case, which is why Zimmerman was never originally arrested or charged. Only with the growing threats of violence from the black community and actual incidents of violence occurring by blacks did they reach a decision to charge Zimmerman.

Now it’s hard to say who’s playing a role and who’s actually dedicated to railroading George, because it’s likely that the charge that was made is completely unsustainable to the point of being ridiculous. It could be the reason that charge was chosen – no jury in their right mind will convict based on the evidence, so perhaps it’s all a show for the rabble and their rousers, the racists and those they’re baiting.

But as Sam Adams pointed out, there’s blood in the water and the sharks are circling.

I also see some indications in the facts as we’ve been given them that Zimmerman likely cracked under the pressure and decided to try to put this whole thing to bed by agreeing to go through with a mock trial to appease the “chattering classes”.

If you remember the OJ case the ridiculous argument given when he was pronounced NOT GUILTY was that the court did not find him innocent.

    I beg to differ.

A finding of NOT GUILTY, since one is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, is a finding of INNOCENT.

That is why I deliberately chose the words the way I did.

Sadly, as you pointed out, and as lao is even now gloating over, the mere fact someone is charged is a hair breadth from convicted/guilty as far as some lunatics like lao are concerned.

And, lao, you did not word your question the same way I worded mine. Plus I am willing to accept the outcome that the evidence supports and, since 100% of the evidence supports a finding of INNOCENT (or, if you wish, not guilty, which is in fact the same thing), obviously if the evidence is followed then there can only be one outcome.

However, we both know that this trial won’t likely be decided based on evidence alone, but on emotion and on the potential for prolonged racial violence which has already stated and will explode once the appropriate verdict is reached.

This is a slam-dunk case for the Defense, lao – that’s what you’re missing. Despite already manufacturing evidence to try to convict Zimmerman falsely, more than once, each time he comes out cleaner than before.

If there were some question as to his guilt then I wouldn’t be taking this position. But the facts were already released and, as the left is so willing and unfortunately able to do, unless new “facts” have been manufactured or maybe coerced, we already know what happened and what the verdict, in a fair court, would be.

The trial is just a show, a sham, a delaying tactic that, hopefully, will get us past the election.

Only HE IS NOT IGNORING THEM so he’s lying AGAIN!

Second, as I pointed out, I’ve already decided Zimmerman is innocent so lao’s whole theory, that I’m doing some sort of trial here, IS A LIE! He’s so funny! Not in a good way, in a really sort of creepy way!

And when he even realizes how badly he’s beaten this post is what he gets – a false claim that he ignores my posts. When was the last time you said that, lao? You have your index! Look it up!

  • Bob Roberts

Well, lao, running circles around you has been fun but now someone a great deal more important than you (as is EVERYONE in my life) wants to go out so we’re going to go have some fun. Enjoy your sick, twisted, lonely world. We won’t be thinking of you!

  • FrankW

Based on the evidence I have seen: Unless they are charging Zimmerman to protect him (when dealing with violent thugs it is a possible tactic) the only other options for why he was charged is either there is additional evidence/testimony from someone unnamed or political pressure (or liberal slant of prosecutors). Considering the exposure this case has had I lean towards the political end. If this goes to trial I still stand by the fact that bammy (and others) involvement will only taint the jury pool. If there is a verdict either way it will be considered suspect.

  • Bob Roberts

Just to expose you in another one of your blatant lies, lao: You keep claiming I’m engaging in “Trial by Blog” when I post about how Zimmerman is being railroaded.

Who is it, again, that I’m trying? I say there should not be a trial! I’m the one who’s saying it’s a circus, a kangaroo court.

So how are you going to get out of this lie, lao?

You know I’m running a few scenarios like that, too, but they really don’t fit the things the prosecutor is saying or doing.

For instance, she skipped the Grand Jury because you know they would have refused to bring any charges at all.

    But here’s the thing:

#1 Now we will have a public trial and even though the usual suspects (lao included, no matter what he might say now) will not accept any jury that comes back with “innocent” (we already discussed it, don’t go there), they’ll have at least a bit more trouble starting their desired race wars if he actually has his day in court and the evidence is laid out for all to see. The sad thing is they’re likely going to pull the same nonsense the media did – claiming he said “F’in coon” when he really said “It’s F’in cold.” You know, using nonsense like that to try and change this from a cut-and-dried case of legitimate self-defense to a case with racial overtones. In any case one hopes, after the evidence is presented, despite the legal nonsense the prosecution will no doubt pull, the jury will confirm his innocence.

#2 What if this goes beyond that and is all about giving the community, whipped up to a fever pitch by the racists like Obama, Sharpton and Jackson (among others) to calm down and get past this and, most important, to delay this, drag it out, so even when the usual suspects manage to use Zimmerman’s eventual acquittal as a pretense to start a race war, at least it will be after the election and we will have a justice department that will deal with it instead of looking the other way because it’s blacks doing the criminal acts.

After all the ridiculous responses lao has been making to my posts, I’m still chuckling at this one:
