Confederate Dress Banned From Prom
According to liberal ideology, all cultures are equal, yet everyone should take ostentatious pride in their own culture, even though it is no better or worse than the others. Of course there are exceptions — for example, no multiculturalist would celebrate the South:
Texanna Edwards knows how to make an entrance. The senior at Gibson County High School in Dyer, Tenn., arrived at her prom with a dress that turned heads — featuring a pattern of the Confederate flag. School officials turned Edwards away, telling her she could return if she changed her dress. Edwards refused, at a loss for why her dress was “offensive and inappropriate.”
She should have come back draped in the flag of Zimbabwe; they might have made her prom queen.

I understand the hypocrisy of barring the young lady for her dress at a government school, but offer a different perspective as a Southerner.
The CSA landed gentry imported black slaves into the Republic, or paid for them creating a demand. I curse them to Hell for that. You may be proud of your Southern Scot-Irish heritage, but the plague unleashed on her and her descendants from that practice is unforgivable.
Yankees during Reconstruction are also culpable. Liberia should have been an EVACUATION destination for the entire lot of former slaves after the war, not an elective. Evacuation, just compensation and clearing of the vestiges of slavery from the Republic should have been the order of the time. It wasn’t and here we are, ready for another round of racial violence, another generation of aggrieved blacks incapable of integrating into civilized society, another generation of totalitarian statists using them to destabilize and loot the Republic.
It will never end.

Since the flag of the State of Tennessee has the exact same red as her dress, has the same color blue as a vertical stripe on one edge and the same white stars as her dress…..I’m thinking he does not care for the State Board of Education.

The history of Tennessee includes being invaded by Union soldiers. I’d imagine one of Texanna’s great, great grandpa’s was in a conflict back in the day.

Maybe in a dress with a hammer and sickle or maybe the rainbow flag, yeah that would have worked out well for her. She and her date could have been made King and Queen of the prom, although he would have had to play that part of the Queen.

No, the CSA did NO SUCH THING. Importation of slaves had ended decades before the Confederate Staes of America even existed.
Slavery existed under the Stars and Stripes for decades as well. Yes, slavery was an abomination left to us by our oh-so-worldly and cultured European ancestors (the same ones whose descendants started two World Wars in the last century), and the Founding Fathers struggled with it and knew it would need to be dealt with.
Slavery had a horrible negative impact on the growth of the Southern economy, and depressed wages and created tremendous resentment with lots of poor whites. Slavery is the reason the South had no real industrial base, and ultimately is one of the reasons they lost The War of Northern Aggression.
The irony is, for most of the blacks that were brought here, it was the best thing that ever happened to them and/or thier descendants. America is the best place in the world to be, black or white, or whatever.
600,000 Americans died in the war that ultimately decided the issue of slavery, and the “white-guilt” legacy of the billions spent on “The Great Society”, “Affirmative Action” and other such programs that have promoted the new slavery of dependency were reparations and payment enough.
“Unforgiveable”? Hardly.
What can you expect from a bunch of Liberal racists?

Statistically speaking, a white American is more likely to be related to a person who died in the eradication of slavery than a member of the slaveholding Southern elite. Yet, the left persists in pushing the line about white people being to blame.
Then there are people like me, white, American by birth, yet who had no ancestors in this country during antebellum times.
