Maybe not “the average voter” but certainly all too many of them. I hear these numbskulls talking about how capitalism is the problem – it causes overproduction they say, completely ignoring the empty shelves, long lines and mass starvations that come under socialism/communism. In fact, from what I’ve seen over the last two decades is that it’s when socialism interferes with capitalism, when government gets involved, basically, that things start going south quickly. If government would generally stay out of the way and just provide basically a minimal oversight role to catch those who, admittedly, would cheat under EITHER SYSTEM (but under the socialist/communist model they would do so a la Solyndra and other recent Obama “success stories”, with government complicity) and basically just keep everyone honest. No crushing regulatory burdens. No excessive taxation driving businesses bankrupt. No demanding medical and social programs that make it a bad risk to employ more workers. And no picking winners and losers, because Obama and the Democrats have shown us, once again, as if we needed yet another lesson, that does not work!
I hope that the average voter merely fell for the anti-Bush rhetoric and the hollow Obama promises but has now learned from their mistake and is ready to do better this time around – or God Help Us All!
The most dangerous drug in the world: ‘Devil’s Breath’ chemical from Colombia can block free will, wipe memory and even kill
As soon as I saw this story I had a feeling something wasn’t quite right.
Scopolamine is a secondary metabolite of the Solanaceae (nightshade) family of plants which includes Hyoscyamus niger (henbane), Atropa belladonna (deadly nightshade), Datura stramonium (jimson weed), genus Datura or Brugmansia (Angel’s Trumpets), and Duboisia (corkwood).
While it does have medicinal applications and can produce hallucinatons and delirium, it’s use to induce a zombie like state of compliance is considered to be more of an urban legend than anything else.
If you look at the pictures that go with the article, the second one down is Angel’s Trumpet – which I have in my own back quarter acre, along with Deadly Nightshade – both grow like weeds here, along with several other species including but not limited to genus Tropaeolum, commonly known as Nasturtium.
The Angel’s Trumpet is something you want to be careful with, as is Nightshade, but the Nasturtium is actually used as a beautiful, and edible, garnish as it is a member of the cabbage family and closely related to watercresses and also mustard and radish, which I suppose accounts for the tangy flavor.
By the way, don’t go around tasting things in your average garden – many of them can harm or kill you. Know before you handle or taste.
There may indeed be a tree that produces seeds that provide some other drug that does this, but the story seems to be more about the urban legend than this actual tree and drug.

Twilight or Dark Shadows?
Obama thinks he can gain some traction by accusing Romney, or rather the firm he was associated with, Bain Capital, of being “a vampire”.
If it’s a “Twilight” vampire this attack, like others, may in fact help Romney as Twilight is quite popular. On the other hand, if he convinces people Romney is more of a moonbat Johnny Depp “Dark Shadows” type vampire it could hurt him as that film has generally disappointed, for obvious reasons (if you check out the trailers).
The fuss is over an already troubled company purchased by Bain Capital which wound up going bankrupt anyway.
From the team who’s mantra is “Bush did it”, this seems sort of silly as the weakness in the company existed before Bain Capital entered the picture. I suspect team O’Bummer isn’t telling the whole story nor are they telling it straight.

Intensity of support or opposition can have an impact on campaigns. Currently, 24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove, giving him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -17.
Various polls (AP, Politico, Gallup, CBS, Fox) show Congressional approval, with the obstructionist Democrats still deliberately and illegally blocking even the most basic requirements – a budget – from being debated and passed, down in the teens. Disapproval is bumping up against 80%. An anti-incumbent gale is brewing.
Five polls show only 1/3 of Americans feel the country is headed in the right direction with Obama at the helm. They show from 50% to 2/3 are convinced we’re going the wrong direction.
“Stand your ground” defense denied in Florida Dooley/James case.
A circuit judge has denied the Stand Your Ground motion of Trevor Dooley, the elderly Valrico man charged with shooting to death a decorated Air Force veteran in front of his 8-year-old daughter two years ago.
Dooley claimed immunity from prosecution under the controversial state law that was enacted in 2005. Dooley, then 69, said he was protecting himself when the younger, much larger David James came after him.
James, 41, was defending a teenager using the park’s basketball court to do tricks on a skateboard. Dooley, who lives across the street from the park, yelled at the teen to get off the court and strode into the park to confront the teen when James stepped between them.
Testimony differed slightly about what happened next. Dooley claimed he turned and began walking home when James attacked him. But witnesses said that before that Dooley hiked his shirt up to display a handgun in his waistband, and that’s when James went after Dooley.
It appears Dooley came out to threaten the skateboarder with his gun and James, unfortunately, got in the way.
The prosecution argues Dooley showed James he had a gun, and that is when the altercation became physical. They portray Dooley as the aggressor. According to Monday’s ruling, “…the evidence showed that Mr. James had not been threatening or aggressive in any way toward Defendant, although he did appear to be shocked, defensive, loud, upset and agitated. It was not until Defendant reached for and pulled out his weapon – indicating an intent to escalate from an argument to violence – that Mr. James exerted and used physical force against Defendant.”
In contrast, regarding the matter of George Zimmerman and St. Skittles, the aggressor was Martin and he was literally bashing Zimmermans head on the sidewalk after initiating a life or death struggle with a sucker punch. Zimmerman had no other option than to draw and fire his weapon to save his own life.
Of course, liberal moonbats will be quick to point out that, in this other James/Dooley case, Dooley is black and James is white.
If it turns out that James was the aggressor (not likely, based on the evidence at hand) then I would side with him. This is not about race, it’s about the right to defend oneself against an aggressor. But, as the evidence suggests, it appears the court feels Dooley was the aggressor as he grabbed his gun, stuck it in his waistband, then went out and started a confrontation all over a kid merely riding a skateboard.
OOPS, I meant, “If it turns out that James was the aggressor (not likely, based on the evidence at hand) then I would side with Dooley”.
And this is the second source I quoted in my first post. Forgot to add the link.
The blatant lies of the left.
Jesse Jackson takes a false and dangerous position. Blacks are rightfully indignant when the fight to pervert marriage is compared to the fight to end slavery.
You don’t choose to be black.
You don’t choose to become a slave or not.
Indeed “people of color” would attack and slaughter various tribes in Africa and some of the survivors would be rounded up and sold into slavery, against their will. There was no personal choice involved.
Another thing: Regarding marriage, nobody (who is otherwise eligible based on age, mental capacity and basically qualifications nobody is challenging, at least not yet) is denied “the right to marry”. Any otherwise eligible person, gay or straight, has the right to follow the same rules that apply equally to all – they have the right to choose a person of the opposite sex, who can again be gay or straight and they only have to have all the same eligibility requirements everyone else has to meet.
With notable exceptions (notable because the founding fathers saw fit to include them in the Constitution, underlining their special nature and importance), matters of personal choice do not rise to the level of creating a civil right. Gender confusion is a personal problem, not a political one.
BY the way, that steel plant that Obama is making a fuss about in his latest campaign attack ads – went on and did apparently well for TEN YEARS after Bain acquired it and, apparently, Romney was no longer in a leadership position at Bain when the steel company was finally shuttered in the early 2000s, likely because of DEMOCRATS AND THEIR ANTI-BUSINESS ACTIONS!

We’ve seen some possible backlash over Obama’s “coming out”, but whether or not it will hurt or help him in the long run remains to be seen. This is about how it could potentially hurt him.
Just days after President Barack Obama announced his support for same-sex marriage, pastors and priests around Maryland took to their own pulpits with their reaction– and in some cases– condemnation of the president.
When Obama announced that his position on same-sex marriage had evolved, it outraged some African-American pastors like Pastor and Del. Emmett Burns.
“He has said to his base, African-Americans, ‘I am going against your beliefs and your thoughts,’” Burns said.
He’s so opposed to same-sex marriage, he told church members he will no longer support the president and now predicts Obama will lose the election because of it.
“God said in every home, there needs to be a representation of his glory through manhood and femininity,” Pastor Harry Jackson, Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, said.

I’m sure we both agree on the facts of the case and the necessary outcome. My point was that the other case had significant differences, including race reversal. I was trying to head off those who might claim that case bodes ill for Zimmerman, when clearly it does not. In the other case the shooter was clearly the aggressor, clearly brought the gun out with the intention of using it to intimidate and clearly by flashing it provoked what followed.
Sinister66 says: May 14, 2012 at 10:45 am
I think we have a slight difference of opinion regarding a reasonable definition of a “sucker punch”. While I don’t dispute the definition you give certainly fits SOME cases, as far as I’m concerned, any time you simply punch someone for no valid reason, without warning, even if you do so when standing face to face, that is a type of sucker punch.
Perhaps my opinion on this is wrong – please provide some sources that define sucker punches as being limited to sneak attacks from behind if you can.
bing.com defines it as: unexpected blow: a blow delivered when somebody is not expecting it
They do not suggest it has to be from behind and does not eliminate punches that come from some angle where one can see it coming yet cannot react fast enough to block it.
Urban dictionary’s first definition suggests a true sucker punch is one delivered to the solar plexus with the intent of inducing an effective state of temporary paralysis in order to allow complete dominance for a short time. Indeed their second definition does agree with your description of a punch from behind but their third appears to describe a punch delivered from the front, perhaps.
Answers.com gives my general definition, just like Bing: An unexpected punch or blow.
The free online dictionary describes one as “An unexpected punch or blow.” but goes on to say “a sudden surprise punch, esp from behind”. So they do specify that sneak attacks from the back are certainly examples of this, but they also do not rule out sudden, unexpected attacks from the front as we tend to believe, based on testimony, was what St. Skittles did.
Look as for Zimmerman being somewhat of a thug, yeah, there’s been an attempt by moonbats to portray him that way.
Attempts by moonbats.
Don’t be a moonbat.
You’re going back to a myspace page that was abandoned something like a decade ago for your arguments?
Good luck with that strategy.
So sin pulls out a 2005 MySpace page with minimal context to it linking George Zimmerman. Maybe it is legit, maybe not, I have no clue, but here is a hint: THE PAGE IS FROM 2005. What possible bearing does this have on a 2012 legal case?
And BTW, a sucker punch is a punch you don’t expect, frontal or otherwise.
On the page of “Joe G.” (Zimmerman’s name was George Z., not Joe G.) you apparently find the quote:
“I dont miss driving around scared to hit mexicans walkin on the side of the street, soft ass wanna be thugs messin with peoples cars when they aint around. Workin 96 hours to get a decent pay check, gettin knifes pulled on you by every mexican you run into!”
These sound like accurate descriptions of what his life was like, not “racially disparaging words” as they are described.
First of all, both Zimmerman and “mexicans” are hispanic, so what, are we claiming he was down on his own race?
Second, he isn’t promoting violence against mexicans – on the contrary, he speaks of being afraid he’s going to accidentally hit one who’s out cruising cars to burglarize. That’s a realistic concern, by the way, in some areas of the country. As is worrying about some mexican pulling a knife on you on the streets for no reason.
A close friend of mine was walking in downtown San Diego. A truck pulled up. A “mexican” (how he describe d him, admittedly he didn’t get an ID and check) got out and approached him, pulled a knife and tried to deliver what might have been a deadly stab wound. My friend defended himself and wound up with a serious cut in the arm and the mexican ran away back to the truck and left.
On the marriage issue one candidate is real, the other fake.
Mitt Romney is on record as supporting a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as a union of one man and one woman.
Obama is NOT on record supporting a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as a union of any two persons of any sex.
They keep talking about “bigotry” and claim that gay people are not allowed to marry. This is not true. Gays can marry – they just must follow THE SAME RULES AS EVERYONE ELSE DOES!
More tax abuse
The Department of Health and Human Services last week announced it had awarded a $5.9 million grant to a University of Chicago Medical Center program tied to Michelle Obama and run by Eric Whitaker, one of President Obama’s closest friends.
The Urban Health Initiative, which received the award, was originally based on a smaller program launched during the last decade by Michelle Obama, who was an executive at the University of Chicago Medical Center before she departed to become first lady. The UHI is headed up by Obama basketball and golf buddy Whitaker, who has known the president since Obama’s days in law school and who also vacations with the first family.
At what point does this become a chargeable, prosecutable offense?
“Is smashing someone’s head into the concrete under those circumstances aggravated assault?”
Depends on what was done to instigate such a responce.
“Defense attorney Mark O’Mara has said he expects to get his first look at the evidence today. He has also warned that he will likely file paperwork, asking the judge to keep key elements from everyone else.”
This would suggest unreleased evidence. Since you seem to know everything that happened that night. What are the key elements to be kept from everyone else?
“Look as for Zimmerman being somewhat of a thug, yeah, there’s been an attempt by moonbats to portray him that way.”
Have not heard of anyone calling him a thug but throwing some ebonics terms in when you type falls into the wanna be thug realm.
“So sin pulls out a 2005 MySpace page with minimal context to it linking George Zimmerman.”
Your right. The only context linking Zimmerman are the pictures, Blog, and About Me section.

Corey said she had offered Alexander a plea bargain that would have resulted in a three-year prison sentence, but Alexander chose to take the case to a jury trial, where a conviction would carry a mandatory sentence under a Florida law known as “10-20-life.”
The law mandates increased penalties for some felonies, including aggravated assault, in which a gun is carried or used.
The case, which was prosecuted by the same state attorney who is handling the Trayvon Martin case, has gained the attention of civil rights leaders who say the African-American woman was persecuted because of her race.
Corey said the case deserved to be prosecuted because Alexander fired in the direction of a room where two children were standing.
Alexander said she was attempting to flee her husband, Rico Gray, on August 1, 2010, when she picked up a handgun and fired a shot into a wall.
Let’s just see what really happened:
She said she escaped and ran to the garage, intending to drive away. But, she said, she forgot her keys, so she picked up her gun and went back into the house.
The reasons she’s being prosecuted and isn’t allowed the “stand your ground” defense include (but may not be limited to) the fact she had escaped and could have just continued to escape, but instead she stopped, obtained the gun, turned around, put herself back into the situation where she knew (or at least claims she knew) her life was potentially in danger. That’s not standing your ground – that’s asking for it.

Differences between Republicans (conservatives) and Democrats (socialist/leftists):
If a Republican is gay, he goes about living his life.
If a Democrat is gay, he wants acceptance and recognition of his life legislatively promoted and insists his lifestyle should be crammed down the throats of everyone else.
If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants them legally banned so that, in a confrontation, the lawbreaker will always have the upper hand.
If a Republican doesn’t believe in God, he doesn’t go to church.
If a Democrat doesn’t believe in God, he wants every mention of religion or God banned.

Why miss lao when we still have Sinister?
As for getting 2 felonies dropped, the two felonies were battering a police officer and resisting arrest. In New Mexico where I was a prosecutor, resisting arrest is a misdemeanor and is commonly charged along with battery on a police officer. The DA that preceded me used to charge people with battery on a police officer and resisting if they jerked their hands away and made contact with the officer while being cuffed. This is a blatant example of overcharging. It’s one thing to have enough evidence to charge, probable cause, but it’s another to have evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to convict. I suspect that’s why the charges were dropped. The job of the DA is to seek justice, not just rack up convictions. Also, for first felonies, the def can be offered a pre-prosecution diversion program which ends in having the cases dismissed. His record was not expunged because there is no such thing in Florida, and if it is on the Orange County clerk’s website, it obviously hasn’t been “expunged”.
Such an assault would only be lawful if Saint Skittles were standing his ground against a felonious attack from Zimmerman.
There is no evidence of that happening, nor does it make sense, as Zimmerman called the police before the confrontation, and implored them to hurry up and arrive on scene.
