Obama hikes Tricare fees on veterans
The graphic and caption are ‘Priceless’. Thanks for posting.
Now, going back under my rock.
I’ve been sharing some excerpts and thoughts from the obamacare decision on several threads here, here and now on this open thread.
If you haven’t read it yet, I urge you to at least review the 6 page syllabus.
Roberts’ written opinion runs from page 7 to page 38. This is followed by the court’s opinion from page 39-49. Roberts steps back in at page 50 and continues until page 65.
Then the moonbattery begins as Ginsberg begins to spew her nonsense starting on page 66 (should have perhaps been numbered page 666?) through page 127. If you ever wanted to explore the thoughts of someone who is intelligent yet insane, start here.
The dissent by Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas and Alito begins on page 128 and runs to page 191. Then Thomas (remember, some called for him to step down from this case since his wife apparently had some dealings which they falsely claimed could make him impartial, while they did not issue a corresponding call for Sotomayor, who actually helped prepare potential defenses for this nonsense, to step down also since it was and is clear she is NOT impartial on these matters) finishes up with a bit more dissent that apparently he couldn’t get the others to step up and sign, for some reason.
It’s only two pages. Even if you won’t read the rest, be sure and read it.
DID YOU KNOW?
(This was an article from the last quarter of 2011, talking about the 3rd quarter of that year.)
Government made more profit on gasoline than ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil, the largest oil company in the world, earned $10.3 billion dollars. Many people cry foul at how much money was earned. However, have you ever stopped to think how much money the government collects on gasoline?
Let’s do the math. The U.S. consumes we’ll say an average of 9.2 million barrels of gasoline per day. That’s about 386.5 million gallons of gasoline- everyday. Using numbers from the American Petroleum Institute, who tracks the average taxes paid per gallon, we know the average total combined tax per gallon in the U.S. is 48.8 cents per gallon, of which 18.4 cents goes to the Feds.
Now, doing the math, various branches of government collect 48.8c/gal times 386.5 million gallons per day. That’s $188.6 million dollars per day. If we multiply by 365 days, we find that the government collects $68.84 billion dollars per year, just in gasoline tax. That comes down to $17.2 billion per quarter, which was nearly seven billion dollars more than Exxon earned. The government has little work to do but levy and collect the tax. They don’t refine the oil, process it, or ship it. They merely tax it. Of course, we have roads to pay for, yes, but the simple fact of the matter is that the U.S. government profits more from gasoline than the largest oil company in the world.
Put things in perspective?
Motorists in Connecticut paid the most tax per gallon in October 2011 at an average of 68.7c/gal. California motorists came in second at 67.7c/gal, Hawaii third at 66.6c/gal, Illinois fourth at 58.3c/gal, Michigan fifth at 57.4c/gal.
States that paid the least amount of tax on a gallon of gasoline in October? Alaska- just 26.4c/gal, Wyoming at 32.4c/gal, New Jersey at 32.9c/gal, South Carolina at 35.2c/gal, and Oklahoma at 35.4c/gal. The West Coast wins highest average tax- 58.2c/gal.

I’m 51 years old. I’ve seen what was coming; and what is happening. I’m armed to the teeth.
I may have to give up the weaponary, lose my ass on taxes, but I’m out of here in eight months. You folks can HAVE the DEMS & REPUBS>

More impending doom for Obamacare
Are we perhaps too quick to throw CJ Roberts under the bus? Could he be a lot smarter than we’re now giving him credit for being?
Did his decision actually put the ball back in the congressional Republicans court, since it’s congress that controls all tax-related matters?
Is that why the Demoncrats, and every leftist talking-head, are bending over backwards to convince the American sheeple that ObummerCare, (ie: socialized medicine) is NOT a tax, even though it has now been “officially” declared a tax?
Thursdays SCOTUS decision has now made socialized medicine the law-of-the-land. It’s a prize the Left has sought since the country made a sharp turn to the left in the 60′s. It has been tried over and over again, but always failed. It’s the reason it failed in the early 90′s, when Bubba was in the WH, and Hitlary put it on the table again. Why did it fail? Simply because of “packaging”. If the people don’t like how it sounds, it won’t work. That’s why it’s gone from socialized medicine, to “universal healthcare”, to Obamacare. The Left knows, and the MSM will see to it, that the people will eventually swallow anything so long as it’s presented in an attractive and seemingly benign package.
While the sheep were being distracted by healthcare, the Marxist-in-Chief ordered a de-facto amnesty for illegals. He did it in the same Fascist manner as his socialized medicine scam, ignoring the congress, the Constitution, and more importantly, the will of the people.
What do the American people call this when it happens in some other country? And when it happens, don’t we always side with the people who rise up and overthrow the tyrannical rulers responsible for violating their laws and totally ignoring their will?
Aside from the America-haters of the Left, anyone believing that America is still a free country are perhaps the biggest fools of all.

RE: Spider at June 30, 2012 at 7:28 am:
You may have a point there. Regardless, the legislature can fix this….if they want to.
I made a bit of a mistake when I said Sotomayor was the one who needed to recuse herself – I mean KAGAN!
Excuse the error, please.

Your “favorite author” is correct that politicians use emotions to manipulate us and that we need to avoid falling for it.
However, I think he’s also a bit of a konspiracy kook (incorrect spelling intentional) if you really read him closely.
Spider says: June 30, 2012 at 7:28 am
He certainly could have gone the other way and put a fire in the bellies of the left just before a critical election, even though he does a great job of explaining exactly why he didn’t.
Yes, he’s left us in a very bad spot by not doing so and I remain unhappy about that. But the more I consider what I read (his written decision) the more I understand why he did what he did.
It’s time we stopped expecting others to ride to the rescue and got down to fixing what’s broke ourselves.
In the broader scheme of things, by allowing people like FDR and Obama to be elected, we’ve sold out our country. It’s time we stopped pointing fingers at Roberts and such and started doing the hard work of winning our country back.
Detroit city buses plagued by bedbugs…
The SCOTUS decision was a battleground defeat, but we can still win the war if we parlay this into a November victory. It won’t be easy but it is indeed within our grasp.
Check this out! Indiana is billing the feds 130 million for their illegal criminal alien problem!
Moonbats, you have to love them! Whenever a new record heat is recorded they say, “See, Al Gore is right!” Whenever a new record cold is recorded and you say, “See, Al Gore was wrong!”, their response is “You’re confusing weather with climate!”.
Well we do have some pretty blistering heat records being set. This piece helps explain why. It’s weather!
Norton Dam, Kan., hit 118 F. on Thursday, and 32 communities from Colorado to Indiana just posted their highest temperatures ever. Forecasters say back-to-back La Niñas are partly to blame.
[Another] reason for the seemingly relentless high temperatures is the presence of a broad ridge of high pressure inching its way across the continent, forecasters say. With skies generally clear, sunlight has a clear path to travel on its way to baking what in many places is an already parched surface.
Note that this hot streak is in fact due to COLDER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES. That’s right – back-to-back La Niñas – which are ABNORMALLY COLD WATER TEMPERATURES.
How? Why? Well cooler water means less evaporation, for one, leading to atmospheric pressure and humidity differences that help ensure clear skies, warmer temperatures and, with no moist, unstable air, no chance of storms to break the hot, dry streak.
It’s weather, not climate – moonbats tell us this but when the foot is on the other hand they forget it, conveniently.
Plus there’s a bit there about how we’re now 2 degrees warmer than 1910 – but they left out (probably due to deliberate falsification of records) the hot period we had in the 1930s and in fact the “2 degrees warmer” is also thanks to deliberate falsification of records.
Personally I like the heat. It’s a great day at the beach and I’m going back there now. Film @ 11.
Seems to me the solution is quite simple and certainly within our power and authority to accomplish.
Quit giving them free stuff.
Well, actually, did have a few things I wanted to post before going.
“It’s a sad day in Chicago”
Gee, I thought they had all sorts of gun control there and no problem with gun related violence as a result.
What? It doesn’t work that way? The more laws you pass to prevent people from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights the more they wind up the losers when criminals, who by definition ignore laws, come calling?
Yeah, that makes sense. Why didn’t I think of it before I was for gun control laws?
This bit is, despite the sadness of the event, hilarious:
Acree was no less indignant than Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who said to the unknown killer Thursday, “How dare you?”
I can answer that. He or she dares because idiots like YOU make it impossible for US to defend or care for ourselves with your nanny state nonsense!
It’s time we outlawed unions.
Unions encourage people to walk off their jobs right when we need them most.
Moonbat out of control – again.
Obama’s idea of “shared sacrifice”.
The White House released its annual report to Congress on staff salaries. At 4:39 p.m. on Friday.
A quick review found the White House payroll appears to have grown since last year, going from $37.1 million in 2011 to $37.8 million in 2012. The number of employees listed also grew — from 454 last year to 468 in 2012.
The names and numbers are here, apparently. At least the ones he’s admitting to. No telling who else is on his slush fund payroll.
One wonders why the moonbats aren’t going as crazy over this case as they did over a few homosexuals masquerading as Catholic Priests so they could serially rape young boys.
Penalty for just visiting Israel.
Sure, BRING IT!
Iran making futile noises again. But this is why we cannot afford to let them get nukes – they’re out front about the fact they WILL use them. Thanks Carter! Thanks Obama!
IRS steps up scrutiny of tax-exempt political groups (but only CONSERVATIVE/REPUBLICAN/TEA PARTY ones)
Clooney making attempts to get foreign money to illegally influence 2012 election.
It shook the house, actually.
Seems like Obama/Holder complaints Issa is just fishing don’t hold water!
SURPRISE: DOJ will not prosecute Holder for Contempt. Surprise? Not actually, I was being sarcastic.
