City Council salaries in the cesspool of moonbattery and corruption known as Washington, DC are the second highest in the nation, but not high enough to suit former council member Harry Thomas, Jr., who felt entitled to compensate himself by indulging in embezzlement and tax fraud. Good thing he won’t be needing his pricey vehicles in the hoosegow:
A filing in federal court last week states that Thomas’ 2008 Victory motorcycle and 2008 Chevy Tahoe sport-utility vehicle had been forfeited to the United States by order of the court. Thomas, who is now serving a three-year, two-month sentence in an Alabama federal prison, admitted he purchased those vehicles using money he stole from the city government. …
Thomas pleaded guilty in federal court in January to stealing $353,500 in funds meant for city youth sports. According to the charging document, Thomas used the money for cars, expensive clothes and golf trips. He spent a small portion of the money on the children for whom all the money was designated.
Thomas’s justification for his crimes ought to get him an extra 10 years in the pen.
At his sentencing in May, Thomas apologized, admitting he’d felt entitled to the extra money after years of public service.
Actually what Thomas and the rest of the bureaurats in Washington (both local and federal) are entitled to for their years of public service involves tar, feathers, and rails.

Three years? Why only three years. He’s a thief and he stole from the public to whom he had a fiduciary duty and from kids. Shouldn’t it be more like 20 years?
