“This is still America”? Yeah, but for how much longer?
(Fox Nation) PORTLAND, Ore. – To some people, nothing is sacred. Not even Fourth of July fireworks.
Fireworks have been a staple of Independence Day celebrations since the earliest years of the republic. The tradition dates back to July 3, 1776, when John Adams wrote a letter to his wife, suggesting that that America’s birthday “ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”
But now the progressives are trying to revise that history, too.
Bill Bigelow of the radical left-wing teachers organization Rethinking Schools, wrote that we need to “rethink” the 4th of July. This “progressive” teacher has declared war on fireworks.
The Fourth of July “…provides cover for people to blow off fireworks that terrify young children and animals, and that turn the air thick with smoke and errant projectiles. Last year, the fire department here [Portland, OR] reported 172 fires sparked by toy missiles, defective firecrackers, and other items of explosive revelry.”
So Bigelow is concerned about public safety. Fair enough. But there’s more:
“Apart from the noise pollution, air pollution, and flying debris pollution, there is something profoundly inappropriate about blowing off fireworks at a time when the United States is waging war with real fireworks around the world. To cite just one example, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in London found recently that U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan alone have killed more than 200 people, including at least 60 children. And, of course, the U.S. war in Afghanistan drags on and on. The pretend war of celebratory fireworks thus becomes part of a propaganda campaign that inures us—especially the children among us—to the real wars half a world away…”
I was just reading on Michelle Malkin’s Twitchy that Aaron Sorkin, Chris Rock and a host of other vulgarly wealthy and extremely selfish American pop cultural ingrates have been going out of their way to denigrate and impugn the USA on her birthday.
Gluttons buying indulgences in search of absolution and a continuation of a lifestyle that they are too unprincipled and immoral to abandon themselves.
So sad.

These are truly interesting times we live in today.We are seeing history unfold literally right in front of our eyes.
With all the criminal,nefarious and pilikia(just luv that word)OUR government is beating us over the head with…..We should now have a sense of what our Founding Fathers felt like.

So I live in New Market Maryland, at Lake Linganore, I was enjoying launching the mortar fireworks my friend brought down for us to shoot over the lake (they’re illegal here because this as a faggy lefty state), but I digress. As the evening progressed a group of older teens maybe early twentysomethings came walking by… I noticed one of the boys (males) in the group wearing the American flag as a cape… My NCOness took over and I called them over to where I was and immediately began to read them the riot act on how disrespectful I though that was and told the boy to take it off and fold it properly, which he told me he did not know how to do. He apologized, and said he would not wear it anymore, but one of his buddies began to chime in and tell me that his Grandfather was an Admiral, his dad was “almost” a CEO at Lockheed, his Uncles were a Major and a Captain, and in the FBI and NSA, and that his friend was just being patriotic, I should stop “picking” on him, and I was a “fag” and his family was way more patriotic than me. I asked him if he had served but said he was too busy with college, called me a “fag” again and told me “well Rocky wore the flag”… I sat there stunned wanting to skull drag this asshat across the beach…. I am no longer active, however I do still need to maintain my clearance… I was kind of wishing to beat the living crap out of this ass, but there were so many people around… Now I am home angry and unfulfilled… What would you guys have done???
