Injustice Department: Give Up Your Religion or Give Up Your Business
The people running Chick-fil-A are hardly the only ones to be punished for daring to cling bitterly to moral principles in the era of Hope & Change. This is what happens if your conscience doesn’t permit you to get on board with ObamaCare:
The Justice Department last week presented the Newland family of Colorado — who own Hercules Industries, a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning business — with what amounted to an ultimatum: Give up your religion or your business.
The Newlands objected to being forced to provide contraception, sterilization, and even abortifacients for their employees, citing the First Amendment’s protection of religious liberty.
The Catholic Church, to which the Newlands belong, teaches that sterilization, contraception and abortion are intrinsically immoral. Last month, the Catholic bishops of the United States unanimously adopted a statement declaring Sebelius’s regulation an “unjust and illegal mandate” and a “violation of personal civil rights.”
Here’s what Obama, Holder, et al. think of the Newlands’ civil rights:
The Justice Department responded by arguing that if the Newlands’ Roman Catholic faith prevented them from following the Obama administration’s command that they provide their employees with cost-sharing-free coverage for sterilizations, contraception and abortion-inducing drugs, the Newlands could simply give up their business entirely.
According to the Injustice Department,
“Any burden is therefore caused by the company’s choice to enter into a commercial activity.”
That is, by attempting to make a living, you wave your Constitutional rights. Experience suggests that John Roberts will agree.
We have long since passed the point where no sincere person can be both a Catholic and a Democrat. Obamunism is bringing us to the point where you can’t be both a Catholic and an American.

Who – War is here, NOW, it’s just that no one is fighting. The people of the United States have been trained to be meek subjects for decades now. The societal norm has always been to obey the law, however that is from a time when the law was not used as a weapon by the government against the people. Today, we must realize that the perversion that passes for law is usually not in the best interests of the people and therefore should not be obeyed.
If Hercules chooses to fight, like the original Minutemen or Sons of Liberty, I will come, with my rifle to help defend them, who will join me? If we fail to defend our neighbors they will not be there to help defend me when they come for me.
Imagine the DOJ SWAT team comes to raid them with 100 armed agents and they find 1000 armed citizens waiting for them.
The little dictator picks and chooses which laws he will obey and which he will ignore, we need to do the same. This will necessarily result in chaos and civil war but no other outcome is possible now. Only a fool would think that the Nov. 6th election is going to save the country, it is lost now and must be retaken by force. Would the Injustice dept act the same if the owners were Muslims and they do not believe in o-care mandate for free contraceptives and they believe their employees should follow their Islamic faith?? Would the Feds issue a cease order and tell the owner to quit their business ??

Yes, this points out that the many recent articles saying that the burden exists for church-related religious businesses is not really correct. It’s a problem for anyone who holds firmly to church teaching (and not only Catholics).
I would think this is an issue which strays into the First Amendment prohibitions on the establishment of, or free exercise of (a) religion by the government.
Freedom to worship is unrestricted. Business is not unrestricted. If you don’t like the restrictions, you’re free to not participate.

Freedom of worship has nothing to do with this, and you know it. But that is exactly what you and those in government are now trying to do: Relegate religion to worship and nothing more. In any truly free and wise nation, religion is part in the public square. Squirreling it away into a hole of “freedom to worship” is the clearest sign of tyranny.
So Nan/Lao, if a Republican administration put in place an edict that every employer provide all of their employees a handgun, an ammunition allowance, and tactical training; then you would be ok with that and demand that any business not doing it could just stop doing business?

Well as you all have witnessed our Constitution no longer stands for what it was worth. Now it’s just a game of cat and mouse to dismantle it completely and the evil that has been put in place to rule us has been done so by those who have been corrupted themselves or simply not smart enough to see past the smoke and mirrors. I believe there are still good people left only waiting to be informed. This is where you guys come in. Attend town or city meetings and let your voice be heard! Stand up to those who try and tear you down. The line has been drawn in the sand and now you must choose which side you will stand. Don’t take the easy way out. Life is merely a short stop here on earth but what lies beyond is determined on what you do now. Knowing what freedom and liberty is gives you a greater responsibility to stand on the front lines. Don’t run from it, run at it.
Businesses are increasingly choosing not to participate, leaving millions unemployed. Do you really want to take this to its logical conclusion?
Tip: it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

I’m not Jewish, but you could reliably say the same thing about American Jews. Why they so predictably vote Democrat has been a mystery to me for a long time. I personally know half the Republican Jews in the Chicago area, and both of them are as mystified as I am.

The Colorado district court issued an injunction protecting Hercules HVAC for now. Made some mention about first amendment, too. A good smack down on DOJ for now.

Liberals read the Constitution as a list of things they can’t do directly, which are merely temporary obstacles. Your income belongs to them, your property belongs to them, your body belongs to them, and your freedom belongs to them. You didn’t build any of it. They merely give you temporary and limited permission to use it.
Just look at all the government does for us. The IRS can tax “all income, from whatever source derived”. The Commerce Clause of the Bill of Rights gives government unlimited authority to regulate anything and everything to do with commercial activity. The EPA assumes total regulatory authority over anything to do with your environment, which they read as “anything”. Homeland Security assumes unlimited power to control anything that could possibly be construed as a threat, which means “everything”, all the way down to your six year old’s underwear.
No sincere Christian can be a Democrat. Obama, Democrats and Socialism are the Beast.
