Business Booms for Bakery That Stands Up to Homosexual Coercion

Chick-fil-A isn’t the only business to benefit from standing up to the gay mafia:

The owner of a cake shop in Lakewood, Colorado said that, following a refusal to provide a wedding cake for a homosexual couple his business has more than doubled.

Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, told local media that this wasn’t the first time he had turned away homosexuals seeking wedding cakes, but it is the first time his stand for Christian principles has resulted in so much media attention and some death threats. …

The situation developed on July 19 when two homosexuals entered the shop and announced they were getting “married” in Massachusetts and wanted to order a wedding reception cake for their reception in Colorado. When Phillips refused, one of the pair, 28-year-old Dave Mullins, is reported to have said, “F*** you and your homophobic cake shop,” and directed an obscene gesture at the owner before leaving.

According to the Huffington Post an online petition in support of the homosexual pair was set up and “has drawn nearly 400 signatures” while a Facebook page, “Boycott Masterpiece Bakeshop, currently has over 200 members.”

Phillips said the publicity has generated a business boom, with customers coming to the shop specifically because of his stand against same-sex “marriage.” …

Phillips remarked that he is not “homophobic” and does not refuse service to anyone based on their sexual orientation. He does however draw the line on catering to same-sex “marriage.”

As must civilization.

Sometimes virtue is its own reward. Other times it’s only part of the reward. Death threats are never fun, but they are the price of standing up to thugs.

It takes a brave man to stand up for his principles against the forces of totalitarianism, fascism and cultural marxism.

This is just stupid. If you have a business serving the public you should serve the entire public. I’m not a big supporter of gay marriage, but a business should keep their political and personal opinions private. It just makes sense.

  3. Kanak Girl says:

When I was growing up, nearly every business posted a sign stating they reserved the right to refuse service to anyone. It’s a sad day in America when people are forced to serve or hire people that will be detrimental to their business, and they are publicly vilified for standing for their values. Liberal idiocy at its finest.

Businesses should do what they want, Cowboy Chris. What is with the entitlement delusion? This bakery doesn’t owe anybody anything.

Clearly his bottom line would disagree with you.

How do you think Colt would do making a product designed for San Francisco Bay Area sensibilities? The rest of the nation wouldn’t be too thrilled with a bang flag popping out of the barrel.

Traditional Americans, jtm? Like slave owners?

  10. Mickey Shea says:

Uncle Pinko, you crack me up…you’re a real pisser.
    heh heh. Reactionary asshole.

  11. Hybrid Lemon says:

I heard the reason he refused to make the cake was that he was fresh out of Groom & Groom figures for the top.

    :-)

  12. Hybrid Lemon says:

…or was it Bride & Bride figures?

    No matter.

  13. Doug says:

I think the request was more along the lines of ‘naked groom IN naked groom’ with extra whipped cream and a little cocoa on the side.

The morning the story ran on Drudge I looked up Masterpiece Cakeshop on the web and called him. He answered the phone, it was about 6 am in CO, and I told him I called to say Bravo, stand your ground, I’m in Florida but there are a lot of people who agree with him. He sounded very modest and humble. Just a cake guy. Leave him alone queers. The words and signage of the gay leaving the shop is just an example of why Christian people don’t want to deal with them. I was so happy to read about the guy getting fired after he taped himself harassing that poor girl at Chik-Fil-A yesterday.

Don’t forget about the Christian photographer in Albuquerque who turned down a job photographing a lesbian marriage and was ordered to pay fines by the NM Human Rights Commission. Looks like Alliance Defense Fund is coming to her aid on an appeal.

  21. Daylo says:

I am 100% behind Mr. Phillips. If I lived in Colorado, I would do business at his bakery only.

Thank God Mr. Phillips does not share in Chicago’s values, Boston’s values, San Francisco’s values or D.C.’s values, but the values of Christianity!

I’ve recently seen some REAL MEN come out and make a stand. Too bad the rest of them have no backbone.

    You’ve got backbone, sir!

  22. StanInTexas says:

    Cowboy Chris,

Should a Muslim caterer be forced to cater a jewish banquet?
Should a black t-shirt business be forced to make t-shirts for a KKK rally?
Shouls a gay run business be forced to participate in an anti-gay event?

Your exclusionary attitude is all fine and good, when it is not your own sensibilities being offended. This is a manufactured issue by gay activists, just like the Chick-Fil-A story. They could have said FINE and taken there business elsewhere just like the rest of us do when we are not treated well by a business.

  23. KHarn says:

Neo-commines like PINKO think that businesses HAVE TO serve the public; but there is NO LAW that says a business HAS TO do any such thing. You can open a business, stock the shelves, hire employees, demonstrate the product and then sell NOTHING. It’s your business, your PRIVATE PROPERTY and you can do with it what you wish.

At least, that is how it USE to be, when America was free.

  24. Jay B. says:

    cowboy chris says:

As a PRIVATE business, he is entitled to refuse service for any reasons at all.

This is why leftists and trolls here are wrong. Being free doesn’t mean everyone has to serve you, it means both parties do business based on mutual agreement, not coercion.

  25. Jay B. says:

Heck, on the door to my hardware shop, there’s a note about no dogs allowed (obviously I make exceptions for assistant dogs for the blind) and requires people to wear a shirt and shoes. Do I discriminate against nudists and people taking their dogs everywhere? Yeah, I do but they can take their business elsewhere if they don’t agree.

  26. Son of Taz says:

Hooray for Jack Philips! When more people stay true to their convictions, traditional citizens will begin winning the culture wars.

Massachusetts was bullied into homosexual marriage by the State Judicial Court, the state’s version of the Supreme Court, and I can’t stand that. Lived in MA all my life so far, but won’t be too much longer unless there a huge shift to the traditional values. But, with Hah-vahd and all the other useless colleges here, they may never happen.

  27. cowboy chris says:

Sad to see there is just as much hatred on the Right as the Left.
Of course you CAN do what you want in your business, that doesn’t mean you SHOULD!
