Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Andrea Taber

Hats off to baker Andrea Taber, who refuses to accept EBT payments for her expensive gourmet pies, getting her in hot water with the Braintree Farmers Market, which demands she allow parasites to pay for the pies with other people’s money.

Taber has refused the market’s request to all its vendors to take federally funded nutrition benefits for her sticky treats, saying welfare payments for essential foodstuffs are fine, but she doesn’t think taxes should pay for pricey, fattening desserts.

How could even moonbats argue that those who work for a living should be forced to buy gourmet pies for those who vote for a living? Here’s how:

One welfare advocate said rejecting EBT cards could stigmatize the poor.

“I don’t want people who are victimized enough to feel they can’t go to a place like this and be ostracized,” said John Drew of Action for Boston Community Development. “The more you tell people they can’t do things, the more they feel bad about themselves.”

That is, we must be forced to give the moochers whatever they want, no matter how extravagant, or it might hurt their precious feelings.

Tyranny is always evil, but only liberal soft tyranny makes you want to throw up.

Language alert: It’s time again for the EBT video.

“I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.” – Relating to prices and the poor, 1766

so if you do a little research you find out that the law does not require a business to accept EBT, but if they want to, the business must apply for an EBT license.
In this case the Farmers Market applied & was granted an EBT License – the Farmers Market processes the EBT card & gives out tokens to be used. Ms Taber is refusing to take the tokens…..a pre-law student could win this if the Market makes Ms Taber leave

I didn’t know eating pie was the means to get obese black children (as rated by Michelle Obama) to lose weight. Is eating pie part of correcting the ‘food deserts’ Michelle Obama talks about? Does eating pie reduce the diabetes epidemic throughout the black community?

We know what a phony Michelle Obama is.

Do they sell steak and lobster at the Farmer’s Market, to go with the GOURMET pies?

Love this guy too. Though Im sure he will be audited by the IRS rather soon.

“”Government didn’t build my business, I DID.”

That was the pro-Mitt Romney message on the T-shirt Davenport, Iowa, deli co-owner Ross Murty wore when he went to work on Wednesday. Nothing unusual, especially in a campaign season—except he was serving food to the traveling White House press corps during President Barack Obama’s visit to the town.

  7. Marmo says:

And these poor people were already being victimized by whom?

    Obama’s economic policies, maybe?

  8. Rotohammer says:

“The more you tell people they can’t do things, the more they feel bad about themselves.”

How about being non-productive eaters? Do they feel bad about themselves? They should.

All behavior is goal-oriented. Avoidance of pain, discomfort, and deprivation are perfectly good motivators. Making the unproductive comfortable will take away those motivations and result in less productivity.

I think it was Stalin or some other communist leader who said something about “useless eaters” who would have to be “eliminated” from the “workers’ paradise”. Maybe it was Geroge Bernard Shaw who in the thirtys, said that people should have to JUSTIFY their contribution to society or be killed.

  10. KHarn says:

Say, let’s ALL go on welfare! No one would produce anything, no one would transport or sell anything and no one would FUND anything.

    What happens THEN, regressives?

  11. Rotohammer says:

KHarn, LOL, I chose the term “non-productive eaters” carefully, given this nexus of non-productivity and gourmet pies, but I was aware of the similarity to the more loaded term “useless eaters”.

While non-productive, they are still useful to Democrats to the extent that they vote Democrat. Given progressives’ contempt for human life and their utopia-by-fiat approach, I’m afraid of how it might go for the poor if their votes are no longer needed.

  12. criolle johnny says:

Mayor Bloomberg would approve! Those pies are fattening!
EBT cards should also have an electronic limit on the size of drinks.

It’s important to note that the lovely countermoonbat is in Massachusetts.

  14. Son of Taz says:

@Snuss – it turns out that according to Andrea Taber, the market does sell steak and fish. I didn’t hear her mention lobsters, but even pricey steaks can be had wit’ yo’ EBT.

@Kek: the one Chick-Fil-A in Burlington MA had lines out the door and around the mall they are located in. The lines continued the next few days, although not as long. As crazy as MA may be to folks from outside the Northeast, there are many good patriots and counter-moonbats here.

Finally, it’s important to note that under Gov “Cadillac” Duval Patrick, a/k/a Obama’s Mini-Me, the schools are under orders not to serve foods the food police have determined are not “healthy.” However, the gimme girls can purchase any type of foods using their taxpayer-funded EBT cards.

I sincerely HOPE there will be a lot of CHANGE come November 6, 2012. The countdown clock is here.

This is a form of “Going Galt.” Which is similar to what I will be doing should the criminal in the oval orifice cheat his way to re-erection. There is NO WAY this turd can win a legitimate election, but if he and his marxist cronies pull some shit, then I vow right now to “Go Galt” in my way. They want to pull the system down as fast as possible. Should they stay in power, I say put the foot down on the gas and let’s go over the cliff even faster. The problem is, they don’t have a clue as to what will happen. They think most Americans will meekly accept 2nd class citizenship in a turd-world environment. I think the exact opposite reaction will happen if this nightmare scenario is to occur. And believe me, there is a better than 50-50 chance of this nation getting flushed down the toilet. We’re already swirling around the bowl even now.

  20. EB says:

She should just say that she is not authorized to take EBT, which is true.

  21. Momster says:

How do most adult people become poor?

Not ALL mind you–just MOST. Let’s see…hmmmm…how would you get to be poor.

    1. No education. Well education is free to children in this country. Even if your parents are poor you still get to go to school through high school, and even beyond, with no money coming out of the family pocket. The only way you could grow up and not be educated is if you REFUSE to study and work hard in school. (Or if someone is retarded–see comment below about devastating illness.)

    2. Getting involved with booze or drugs–making yourself unfit for life in the real world. It makes you a danger to yourself and those in the community who have to deal with the law breaking you engage in to support your expensive and dangerous habit.

    3. Quitting school. Let’s see, now…if a girl gets pregnant out of wedlock the schools bend over backward to make sure she still has an opportunity to finish school and even go on to college–all at no expense to her or her family. Some boys quit school because they can make more money selling drugs and turning to crime. Some communities are even PAYING kids to stay in school. I don’t know the success rate on that one.

    4. Not able to find employment that pays better than welfare. Of course the job market is tight. Sometimes it is hard to find a job that will make ends meet. Well, I solved that one for myself and at some times had a full time and TWO part time jobs. My sister worked two FULL time jobs for a couple of years. One low paying job not enough–work two. Duh! However, if you are drugged/boozed out, never finished school or did not work hard enough to actually learn anything in school no one will want to hire your stupid, ignorant, drugged up butt.

    4. When you DO have a job you are so dumb or lazy you can’t hold onto it. See remarks above about schooling. As for the lazy part-whose fault is that?

Yes, sometimes people are poor through no fault of their own (mental retardation, devastating illness, sudden widowhood, husband walks out on mother with children) and there needs to be provisions made for people in those dire circumstances. Actually that’s what Welfare is supposed to be all about!

So except for the situations in the last paragraph above, the other things that make people poor seem to be the choices that they, themselves, make.

HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE MY PROBLEM TO FIX?

    (Ranting again–sorry.)
