Federal Budget Visualized
One hundred million dollars is a lot of money. At the average US price, it can buy over 500 homes. Here’s what it looks like stacked up on a pallet in $100 bills:

One billion dollars is 10 of those pallets:

The malignant and horrifically metastasizing tumor that calls itself our federal government spends that much every 2.5 hours.
Obviously, looting “the rich” is not going to pay for the ongoing spending spree. What is less obvious is why the economy hasn’t already collapsed.
If your heart can take it, refer to Demonocracy.info to see what a whole year of federal spending looks like.
On a tip from AC.

Ghost
How many times and in how many ways does the public need to be reminded of the debt?
If this truthfully creative and accurately descriptive depiction of the hole we’re in doesn’t wake people up, what will?
Good find.
I have progressive friends who STILL blame any & all federal overspending on “Bush and his two illegal wars”!
Alphamail,
We need to remind the public of the debt every hour of every day in every way imaginable, from now until election day.
Weimar or Zimbabwe, here we come!
Buy old gold coins, canned goods and shotgun shells if O’Bama gets relected. I’ll try to emigrate to New Zealand.
Nice rack.
People need to be reminded constantly and they need to be made aware of the debt’s gravity in novel ways. Our message is competing with Jersey Shore and happy hour.
Forget about the hoplophobic hellhole of New Zealand. If liberty dies here then there is nowhere to which the common man can escape.
If liberty dies here, it’s gone forever.
Would that make O’Bama the Beast, or just the False Prophet?

It doesn’t take a strong heart (or stomach) to look at a years worth of federal spending. What does (IMO) require a strong heart and stomach is seeing how the American sheeple continue to tolerate the elected lying crooks in govt, be it city, state, or federal, wasting, stealing, and giving away our hard-earned money. If no one stops them, why should they stop doing it?
Since We The Sheeple have not given them any incentive to stop, they won’t. It is said that power, especially political power, is the most powerful aphrodisiac. IMO, having hundreds-of-Trillions of other peoples dollars to play with, as you see fit, has to be a “far more” powerful aphrodisiac, especially when there are no consequences attached.
