Moonbatty Menu in NYC Schools Starves Children

The one thing liberalism does well is cause real problems by inflicting authoritarian lunacy to solve a phony ones. A prime example from nanny Nazi Michael Bloomberg’s New York City:

Worried that children were losing the war on obesity, New York City began to slim down its school lunch offerings several years ago… So much so, city officials now acknowledge, that it often served children fewer calories than required by the federal government.

But even if kids go hungry trying to live off rainwater, leaves, and grotesque obscenities like turkey bacon, the important thing is that moonbat bureaucrats meant well.

City health and education officials said their aim was not to lower calories, but rather to increase the nutritional value of the foods reaching students’ mouths. But as it slowly began re-engineering those foods, there was a “secondary response,” said Cathy Nonas, a senior adviser in the city’s health department. “It dropped the calories and at sometimes below what the U.S.D.A. had as a minimum,” she said.

At least the bureaucracy is eating enough. The federal government stuffs over $400 million per year of our money into the ravenous maw of NYC school lunch programs. In return, local educrats are supposed to actually feed kids instead of starving them in the name of obesity hysteria.

To really make kids lose weight, feed them pink slime.

Ever wonder where all of that money ends up for the school lunch program? IN THE GARBAGE. The NY City DOE has arcane rules regarding the storage of food, such as that individual cartons of single serve milk must be THROWN AWAY because they cannot be stored in school refrigerators.

They throw away millions of dollars in food because of their “rules.”

Bureaucracies violate every rule of Common Sense, because any rule of Common Sense would prohibit the formation of Bureaucracies. A bureaucracy’s only real purpose is to further bureaucratize and enrich the bureaucrats and those that are in favor.

They’ll be eating well again soon.

The tables have turned, the scales are swinging back into balance:

Obama has moved his re-anointing from that football stadium (75,000 seats) inside (20,000 seats) due to “weather concerns”.

    It’s over.

What these mental pygmy’s fail to realize is that the older kids (who require MORE calories) will be packing unauthorized munching contraband in their backpacks.
Feeding them adequately at lunchtime would resolve this.
I discussed this with the head cook of a nearby school.
Last year she was forced (by the school board) to adopt the MO lunch program.
The biggest problem was getting the lid closed on the dumpster at the end of the day

A lot of it winds up in the trash because it’s not palatable enough for the kids to eat, so they don’t.

I think that should have read “…calories AT AND sometimes below…”

    JIM:
Sprinkle a pinch of sugar on the turkey bacon while it’s frying.

It is still fascinating this school lunch concept. For me it is nothing but a soviet restaurant where you get food for ration cards.
I don’t know about you but I remember as a kid getting the same portions of bigger and stronger kids and wondering how could they only eat that. But when I was in the Army we would get as much or less food as we wanted ( or deserved).
Thinking that all kids have the same needs is soviet-mind thinking.

Cmon, it ain’t bacon unless it insults the “religion of peace.”

    There, fixed that for ya.

I’ve found the best way to lose weight is to entirely ignore what the mainstream professionals tell you. For example, I’ve lost weight very successfully on a high fat diet.

Watch the movie “Fat Head” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Head if you are not already up to speed on the fallacy of the “low fat” calorie driven dietary standards.

Very eye opening and agrees with my experiences over the years with regard to diet and health.

Gets into the science-free politics and the corrupt money trail that led to the present food pyramid.

Stupid, stupid, stupid! Kids NEED fat, calories, protein…and EXERCISE.

    P.S. I LIKE turkey bacon.

Bring your own lunch. Be responsible for yourself. I don’t know if NYC school inmates are allowed to bring their own, and I’m too lazy to google it. To me this is just one more good reason to homeschool.
