  9. Bob Roberts says:

I am among the world’s worst carpenters. You wouldn’t want to hire me to do carpentry unless I had strict and constant supervision. Oh, I’m not so bad that I’d cut off any body parts (I know people who have) or so bad I would nearly sever a limb (again, know people who have). Not that bad. And then again, I’ve built a few basic pieces of furniture out of oak (A stereo cabinet, a fish tank stand with a cabinet for supplies) that were pretty darn good, all without so much as breaking a fingernail.

But I’ve also worked on larger projects – construction (volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, etc.) for fun and I can say it again: You wouldn’t want to hire me for that work. I’m just not that good, at least without supervision, and I’m slow.

This is the basic idea behind The Bell Curve, at least the way I see it.

It’s not wrong or racist to point out different people are generally more suited for different tasks. I’ve been told I’m a great singer – though I would say good at best, not great, and perhaps not even that – yet people consistently tell me I should be trying out for these stupid shows and whatnot. I’ve always been good at computer programming – in multiple languages – and generally am good with applications software though some of the higher end packages (AutoCad, the Photoshop series and related programs) took some real effort to learn. But I can’t draw to save my life (except mechanical drawing/drafting – I’m pretty good at that) but, since I cannot create an image with pencils or paint, I went a different direction and actually got relatively decent at doing it with a camera. I’m no Ansel Adams, but I’ve made some real coin off some of my images. Many people say, “Yeah, I’ve seen that before, but you really captured it in a way that’s different than anyone else before you.” So yeah, maybe I have a bit of talent there.

The point is intelligence is just one yardstick and if it is true (as statistics, properly tested, show) that certain racial or ethnic groups are better than others, perhaps THAT, rather than prejudice, is why there are more Jewish doctors and lawyers and more black football and basketball players?

And it can be argued the latter are in some ways better off, “luckier”, than the former.

I mean, they get to PLAY in front of adoring fans, making MILLIONS in the process, while the lawyers have to ARGUE incessantly and put up with all sorts of nonsense, perhaps not making as much as the pro sports guys?

    Anyway, here’s a good quote:

“Inequality of endowments, including intelligence, is a reality. Trying to pretend that inequality does not really exist has led to disaster. Trying to eradicate inequality with artificially manufactured outcomes has led to disaster. It is time for America once again to try living with inequality, as life is lived: understanding that each human being has strengths and weaknesses, qualities we admire and qualities we do not admire, competencies and incompetencies, assets and debits; that the success of each human life is not measured externally but internally; that all of the rewards we can confer on each other, the most precious is a place as a valued fellow citizen.”

Just because I’m willing to admit that my race/ethnic group may not be the smartest on the planet, as a group, doesn’t make me a racist bigot. It merely makes me honest.

  11. Bob Roberts says:

NOTE, in case you’re still livid about what a racist I am for agreeing with THE BELL CURVE, note that while the website I linked does have a pretty reasonable review of the book, it follows that with a bunch of the liberal hatchet jobs that were quickly published after it. Note their main arguments are the usual liberal stock in trade – “it’s wrong because we say so, and we’re smart”, “it’s wrong because… well… they’re obviously RACIST!” and that sort of nonsense.

  12. Bob Roberts says:

    Here’s one of the criticisms:

“Though there are seven appendices, spanning over 100 pages, and nearly 200 pages of footnotes, bibliography, and index, one element is notably missing from this tome: a report on any program of social intervention that works.”

And the author goes on to fail to present one also, suggesting that the reason, perhaps, that said mention is absent, is because there are none that work!

Business owner removes 40 tons of trash from vacant city lot, bureaucrats decide to let no good deed go unpunished
    —————
HA – I’ve seen several similar “city owned lots” in Philly… they’re EVERYWHERE!

    Dumping grounds.

    Filthy, disease ridden parcels.

And the guy wasn’t “trespassing”, not by the proper legal definition anyway.

Turns out that in standard cases, like this one, at least in a fair court/in a sane legal system, you have to be up to no good in order to sustain a trespassing charge and I hope Ori Feibush knows this.

Trespass to land involves the “wrongful interference with one’s possessory rights in real property.”

Cleaning up the lot when they won’t is CLEARLY NOT something that fits this basic definition of “trespass”.

A true “trespass” results in an injury. How has the city been injured by his actions? The answer is THEY HAVE NOT.

    They have no case.

  14. Bob Roberts says:

The plot in question is at N 39.937659° W 75.176806°.

There are no fences. No signs indicating ownership, no “NO TRESPASSING” signs. If it is a city lot as claimed then, arguably, any city taxpayer has at least some right to use and enjoy it (and perform some upkeep, voluntarily) without fear of being accused of trespassing, I would think.

The lot looks pretty good, compared to nearby lots that are full of trash and such, though it is overgrown in the images I’ve reviewed – it sounds like the guy went further, actually planted some nice plants and put in some benches and such – in other words, performed a real public service, though the mention he owns a coffee shop nearby sort of suggests he has self-serving motives as well.

The Romney tape was tampered with. Those b*stards. They knew by the time people found out about the edit it would be too late. Their explanation is laughable.
    —————-
While my first impression was (and is) that Romney did a good job of shooting himself in the foot by providing a quotable quote, since he knows what skilled “out of context editors” moonbats are, the Democrats have pretty much blown off both legs by doing this. Rather than hurt Romney, this may well help him. He was saying what we want to hear, what we know already: You can’t reach those who’ve chosen to be lost, at least not until they’re ready to be found and saved.

Don’t waste time on them. Any effort to wise them up is wasted. Put the information out there for them but leave it at that. If you broadcast it, some may eventually come and wise up. But spending precious time and resources trying to reach those who are drunk on Democrat Kool-Aid is just a waste of time.

  16. Bob Roberts says:

    Life in moonbat land.

Suicide by self-immolation, or “honor killing”?

    Too early to tell.

We had a suicide down here, well over to the east of La Jolla, CA, over near Clantee… I mean Santee. The joke is they’re a bunch of white trash racist bigots – but in fact the population there is quite diverse – would make the heart of any moonbat leap for joy to see just how diverse.

  17. AC says:

Whether an unpermitted entry is actionable or not depends on state law, the nature of the land, what the trespasser was doing, and whether or not the land was posted.

The legal argument here needs to be that his entry was legal because he was abating a nuisance.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the city ended up fining itself for maintaining a nuisance. Think about all the hours. One bureaucrat can go out to inspect, another can issue the violation, a third can cut the check, and a fourth can process the check (after it has been mailed).

  18. Bob Roberts says:

James O’Keefe, the 28-year-old filmmaker known for a series of undercover video stings targeting federally-funded organizations, called the use of secret cameras that captured Mitt Romney’s comments at a private fundraiser “an effective tactic that has a place in a democracy.” But he accused the news media of using a double standard when covering the new video and when writing about the films he produced.

What’s really irksome about it is the left is not really using what he said, but rather their typical false spin about carefully planned edits of what he said.

If you listen to the whole thing, what he actually said, he was making perfect sense and there’s no story there except the truth that some people are lost due to their personal decision to trade their dignity for “endless entitlements”. There is no point trying to reach them until they come back to the real world where you have to do something to get something, do something other than vote for redistributionist class warfare idiots, that is.

  19. Bob Roberts says:

SEE IF YOU CAN SPOT THE TYPICAL MOONBAT LIE!

Here, maybe I can narrow it down a bit for you:

“This settlement is an honest compromise,” [Rahm] Emanuel said. “It means a new day and new direction for the Chicago Public Schools.

“This time our taxpayers are paying less and our kids are getting more,” he said of the deal estimated to cost an additional $74 million a year, compared to $129 million a year in the last contract.

Then the mayor choked up as he called Chicago’s classrooms the only bridge between the city’s poor children and its promise of a future.

Becoming emotional, Emanuel said, “The classroom is where they learn not only do they have a place in the future of this city but they are the future of this city and we as adults have responsibilities to the children of the city of Chicago so they can live up to their future and their full potential.”

  22. Bob Roberts says:

Chinese General: Prepare for combat with Japan.

Bejing hints at bond attack on Japan.

Things are getting ugly in the western Pacific.

China had not asserted sovereignty over the Senkaku until the 1970s when it learned that the islands are possibly situated nearby large reserves of oil.

    1) Since 1885, surveys of the Senkaku Islands had thoroughly been made by the Government of Japan through the agencies of Okinawa Prefecture and by way of other methods. Through these surveys, it was confirmed that the Senkaku Islands had been uninhabited and showed no trace of having been under the control of China. Based on this confirmation, the Government of Japan made a Cabinet Decision on 14 January 1895 to erect a marker on the Islands to formally incorporate the Senkaku Islands into the territory of Japan.

    2) Since then, the Senkaku Islands have continuously remained as an integral part of the Nansei Shoto Islands, which are the territory of Japan. These islands were neither part of Taiwan nor part of the Pescadores Islands which were ceded to Japan from the Qing Dynasty of China in accordance with Article II of the Treaty of Shimonoseki which came into effect in May of 1895.

    3) Accordingly, the Senkaku Islands are not included in the territory which Japan renounced under Article II of the San Francisco Peace Treaty. The Senkaku Islands have been placed under the administration of the United States of America as part of the Nansei Shoto Islands, in accordance with Article III of the said treaty, and are included in the area, the administrative rights over which were reverted to Japan in accordance with the Agreement Between Japan and the United States of America Concerning the Ryukyu Islands and the Daito Islands signed on 17 June 1971. The facts outlined herein clearly indicate the status of the Senkaku Islands being part of the territory of Japan.

    4) The fact that China expressed no objection to the status of the Islands being under the administration of the United States under Article III of the San Francisco Peace Treaty clearly indicates that China did not consider the Senkaku Islands as part of Taiwan. It was not until the latter half of 1970, when the question of the development of petroleum resources on the continental shelf of the East China Sea came to the surface, that the Government of China and Taiwan authorities began to raise questions regarding the Senkaku Islands.

    5) Some focus on historical manuscripts such as “Chinese navigational records” and “an 1783 Japanese map” to make the point that China has a better claim to the Senkaku Islands. However, please note that none of the points raised by the Government of China as “historic, geographic or geological” evidence provide valid grounds, in light of international law, to support China’s arguments regarding the Senkaku Islands.

And now, the answer to the “find the moonbat lie” challenge:

“This time our taxpayers are paying less and our kids are getting more,” he said of the deal estimated to cost an additional $74 million a year, compared to $129 million a year in the last contract.

    —————–
No, apparently the taxpayers are paying more, $74 million more, and if history is any guide, the kids will get a pi$$-poor education out of it.

And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. … These are people who pay no income tax. … [M]y job is not to worry about those people.”

I always find it silly that people on the left attack deregulation as the greatest of evils, and regulation as the paragon of virtue. It seems that under no circumstances are they ever willing to admit that anybody besides themselves might be capable of making a correct decision if left to their own devices.

Following such a hard-line and uncompromising stance to its logical conclusion, you would find an argument that slavery is the pinnacle of economic achievement. The producers, when enslaved, never make an “unfair” amount of money, they don’t make money at all. They cannot make “wrong” choices, because they make no choices at all. The slave doesn’t eat, drink, sleep, pick his nose or scratch his butt without constant supervision.

Another way to say it is that those who work and pay taxes would become serfs, the fruit of their labor taxed at astronomical rates to enrich the government and the politically favored, their lords. When broken down to its simplest terms, it becomes clear that modern left-wing ideology amounts to little more than a call for the return of feudalism.

Let’s go ahead and play with your 6% number.

We will assume, for argument’s sake, that 6% of the population receives welfare. We spend about $2.4 trillion per year on various entitlement programs, mostly Social Security and Medicare.

Using ballpark figures, 6% of 400 million is 24 million. $2.4 trillion divided by 24 million people is $100,000 per person, per year. I’m pretty sure that it’s not possible to put together a six figure salary from welfare benefits, so either your estimate is extremely low or our welfare system is an unmitigated disaster rife with corruption and graft.

    MUSLIM HERITAGE IN AMERICA

Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital ? Have you heard a Muslim orchestra? Have you seen a Muslim band march in a parade? Have you witnessed a Muslim charity? Have you seen Muslims, shake hands with a Muslim Girl Scout? Have you seen a Muslim CandyStriper? Have you seen a Muslim do anything that contributes positively to the American way of life ? The answer to each question is NO!

Barack Obama, during his Cairo speech, said:

“I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America ‘s history.”

    AN AMERICAN CITIZEN’S RESPONSE:

    Dear Mr.Obama:

Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.

Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.

Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution?

    Declaration of Independence ?

    Bill of Rights?

    Didn’t think so.

Did Muslims fight for this country’s freedom from England ? No.

Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America ? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery.. Your own half-brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims often refer to black Muslims as “pug nosed slaves.” Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family’s “rich Islamic heritage,” doesn’t it Mr. Obama?

Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present.

There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.

Where were Muslims during this country’s Woman’s Suffrage era? Again, not present.

In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the ‘hajib’ or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband. And should they ever be raped by a man, they are usually put to death for it while the rapist goes free! Yep, the Muslims are all for women’s rights, aren’t they?

Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi’s in killing Jews.

Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren’t flying planes into the World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing, dancing in the streets and giving out gifts in the Middle East. No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day.

Strangely, the very “moderate” Muslims who’s asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day. And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the “rich heritage” Muslims have here in America.

Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslims.

And now we can add November 5, 2009 – the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That, Mr. Obama is the “Muslim heritage” in America.

Even now your own Department of Homeland Security warns of potential terrorist acts from the Muslim Iranian Quds.

THAT, Mr. Obama, is the “Muslim heritage” in America.

  65. Bob Roberts says:

Like others here, I’ve openly expressed my own distaste with Mitt Romney. This makes the moonbats come back with a good question: Then why will we vote for him in November.

Ignoring the most obvious “anyone but Obama” response, I’m ready to answer that question.

It is obvious Mitt Romney is a rotten politician. It was clear to many of us here he would face an uphill, and possibly losing, battle come November and all the way to November as well.

    However, think about it.

    Do we need another politician?

    No, we actually do not.

    What do we need?

Our government is broken. Our budget is busted perhaps beyond any ability to repair it, but I can think of one person right now who’s shown the ability to fix broken institutions and repair broken budgets.

    Mitt Romney.

Yeah, there’s still plenty about him I’m kind of uneasy about, things I just plain don’t like.

But it turns out that, thanks to the mess the Democrats and Obama made, starting of course with the time under Bush that they controlled the Senate and the House and even before that when they were the primary and ongoing cause of the mortgage/derivatives meltdown, Mitt Romney may actually be the perfect candidate for this election!

If anyone can clean up this mess, I think it might just be him. And even if it’s beyond his ability to completely fix I believe he may be one of the best suited, in the world, to at least mitigate and minimize the damage.

I know many of the others who visit here have some misgivings about him, as I do, but you, I hope, can see and admit the logic in the above.

  66. Bob Roberts says:

So anyway, by now some have posted on the release of the “Fast and Furious” investigation. As I post this I’m currently led to believe you can read/download it here.

I’m also led to believe that, predictably, the first 200 pages basically blame bush for the 3,000 or so guns Eric Holder and Barack Obama allowed to get into the hands of dangerous drug cartels in Mexico, all in an attempt to attack and destroy the Second Amendment. I’m further lead to believe a deputy director of the DOJ criminal division is being offered up as the sacrificial lamb, the scapegoat, while his boss – the guy who sent numerous memos to Eric Holder about the Fast and Furious program, and Eric Holder himself both claim no knowledge or responsibility for what was going on. And of course these two are both layers of insulation claiming that Barack Obama was completely clueless about the whole thing.

    Let that sink in.

Barack Obama, while President of the United States, in command of and responsible for the United States Department of Justice, was allegedly completely clueless about them allowing 3,000 plus automatic weapons get across the border and into the hands of dangerous drug cartels.

And the “blame Bush” goes like this: Under the Bush administration a predecessor program of similar nature, though designed to actually track weapons and catch cartel members, did result in a small number, some said ONE or TWO, but it was probably more like a case or two, i.e. something maybe around a dozen at most, weapons getting “lost”, probably due to corrupt Mexican officials involved in the plan. When this happened the program was IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN.

Obama’s program wasn’t designed to catch anyone. They deliberately let the guns go out of their control, into the hands of drug cartels to boost the liberal moonbat lie that most of the guns involved in Mexican crime come from America, from American gun shops and such.

Obama’s program was designed to damage and hopefully destroy the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

And you can be Obama not only knew about it, was directly involved in planning and implementing it, but is lying through his teeth about it now, as is Holder.

A predictable result of Obama’s rush to get out of Iraq.

Iran ships arms, personnel to Syria via Iraq:

Iran is the path through which the Iranian effort to destroy Israel is proceeding. First, though, Iran must prop up Syria’s dictator so that he doesn’t lose this launching pad for attacks against Israel.

Obama administration deliberately misled us about the true identity of two of those who died in Libya.

Despite their heroic acts, the two ex-seals were NOT part of the ambassador’s security staff. Yet, true Americans to the bone, they took up arms to help protect him and the others during the attack and paid the ultimate price for doing so.

Tyrone Woods, 41, and Glen Doherty, 42, were not employed by the State Department diplomatic security office and instead were what is known as personal service contractors who had other duties related to security, the officials said.

They stepped into action, however, when Stevens became separated from the small security detail normally assigned to protect him when he traveled from the more fortified embassy in Tripoli to Benghazi, the officials said.

The two ex-Seals and others engaged in a lengthy firefight with the extremists who attacked the compound, a fight that stretched from the inner area of the consulate to an outside annex and a nearby safe house — a location that the insurgents appeared to know about, the officials said.

EX-GITMO DETAINEE INVOLVED IN LIBYA ATTACK!

For some time, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, preached the Obama sermon that the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate was spontaneous, a result of and in response to a movie about Islam and Mohammed.

Sufyan Ben Qumu is thought to have been involved and even may have led the attack, Fox News’ intelligence sources said. Qumu, a Libyan, was released from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, transferred into Libyan custody on the condition he be kept in jail. He was released by the Qaddafi regime.

Probe into secret service prostitution scandal may reach all the way to White House staff.

New information reveals President Barack Obama conducted interviews with entertainment magazines and posed for a photo spread last Friday as American embassies burned and 21 countries erupted into anti-American protests.
Instead of spending precious time dealing with the developing crisis in the Mid East and with his foreign policy scheme in a total freefall, on Friday morning, September 14, Obama was giving an interview to the entertainment magazine People en Español and participating in a photo session with photographer Omar Cruz.
This interview was not on his public schedule and was hidden from the public.

It appears Obama is aware he’s going to lose in November and is preparing for his life as a one-term President come January.

Very quietly, Obama’s chief financier, Penny Pritzker, has entered the Hawaii housing market to buy a retirement home for the president and his family that will be available not in 2016, but in January 2013, according to a confidential source within Pritzker’s Chicago organization.

The source told WND that highly confidential internal polls conducted by the Obama campaign indicate Obama cannot win re-election, despite public surveys that show him in the lead.

“The public polls are mostly political,” the source argued. “Obama radicals want Romney supporters to feel discouraged and give up. Truth is that Romney’s winning.”

The source further told WND that Pritzker is experiencing frustration in her fundraising efforts, as wealthy donors who contributed generously to Obama in 2008 are not even returning her phone calls.

The source said Pritzker is “reminding everyone how generous to their supporters the Clintons were when they left office.”

“Everything is for sale. Ambassadorships, government grants, stimulus money – you name it,” the source told WND.

“There’s nearly three months between the Nov. 6 election and the Jan. 20 inauguration – plenty of time to hand out goodies to friends from the Oval Office.”

Sowell on the truth about tax cuts and the lies the left tells about them.

  77. Bob Roberts says:

A lengthy quote from “Economics in one lesson”:

It is not only in reducing scheduled working hours that union policy has worked against productivity. That, in fact, is one of the least harmful ways in which it has done so; for the compensating gain, at least, has been clear. But many unions have insisted on rigid subdivisions of labor which have raised production costs and led to expensive and ridiculous “jurisdictional” disputes. They have opposed payment on the basis of output or efficiency, and insisted on the same hourly rates for all their members regardless of differences in productivity. They have insisted on promotion for seniority rather than for merit. They have initiated deliberate slowdowns under the pretense of fighting “speed-ups.” They have denounced, insisted upon the dismissal of, and sometimes cruelly beaten, men who turned out more work than their fellows. They have opposed the introduction or improvement of machinery. They have insisted on make-work rules to require more people or more time to perform a given task. They have even insisted, with the threat of ruining employers, on the hiring of people who are not needed at all.

Most of these policies have been followed under the assumption that there is just a fixed amount of work to be done, a definite “job fund” which has to he spread over as many people and hours as possible so as not to use it up too soon. This assumption is utterly false. There is actually no limit to the amount of work to be done. Work creates work. What A produces constitutes the demand for what B produces.

But because this false assumption exists, and because the policies of unions are based on it, their net effect has been to reduce productivity below what it would otherwise have been. Their net effect, therefore, in the long run and for all groups of workers, has been to reduce real wages-that is, wages in terms of the goods they will buy-below the level to which they would otherwise a risen. The real cause for the tremendous increase in real wages in the last half century (especially in America) has been, to repeat, the accumulation of capital and the enormous technological advance made possible by it.

    ——————
You may not like or agree with it all, but the point is to read it and see. Unlike many liberal tomes, it is actually worth a look.

  78. Bob Roberts says:

    Moonbat = Mountebank.

From “What has the government done to our money”:
Governments, in contrast to all other organizations, do not obtain their revenue as payment for their services. Consequently, governments face an economic problem different from that of everyone else. Private individuals who want to acquire more goods and services from others must produce and sell more of what others want. Governments need only find some method of expropriating more goods without the owner’s consent.

In a barter economy, government officials can only expropriate resources in one way: by seizing goods in kind. In a monetary economy they will find it easier to seize monetary assets, and then use the money to acquire goods and services for government, or else pay the money as subsidies to favored groups. Such seizure is called taxation.
Taxation, however, is often unpopular, and, in less temperate days, frequently precipitated revolutions. The emergence of money, while a boon to the human race, also opened a more subtle route for governmental expropriation of resources. On the free market, money can be acquired by producing and selling goods and services that people want, or by mining (a business no more profitable, in the long run, than any other). But if government can find ways to engage in counterfeiting–the creation of new money out of thin air–it can quickly produce its own money without taking the trouble to sell services or mine gold. It can then appropriate resources slyly and almost unnoticed, without rousing the hostility touched off by taxation. In fact, counterfeiting can create in its very victims the blissful illusion of unparalleled prosperity.

Counterfeiting is evidently but another name for inflation–both creating new “money” that is not standard gold or silver, and both function similarly. And now we see why governments are inherently inflationary: because inflation is a powerful and subtle means for government acquisition of the public’s resources, a painless and all the more dangerous form of taxation.

Creating money out of thin air, as the obamunists are now doing, is insidious. It causes the real purchasing power of our savings, investments and wages to plummet. It destroys our future without warning – at least without warning to those not paying attention to what is going on.

Me, I’d rather have taxes. They don’t sneak up on you like inflation does. With them you can use elections to throw out the bums that pass them and elect a new crew that will repeal them.

Sam Adams & Jester: Actually, I blame Clinton and his free trade agreements with numerous country too. Free trade agreements are deregulation too – just on an international scale.
The problem with those is that economic crisis get harder to contain in a single country, but are spread into multiple countries making it even harder for a single country to recover via exports. Of course on the plus side you have extreme growth shortly after.
And yes, the Democrats were helping too.
