I want to ask a question to the room:
I am of the opinion that people like His Mittness, who take their untold zillions of $s offshore and avoid paying taxes on said $s, are bad for America. You appear to be of the opinion that any taxes at all are ‘socialist redistribution’.
Pretend that the President is Reagan, or Eisenhower, or anyone but Obama. Now pretend that they decide to tax the top earners at a marginal rate of something like 38%. Further pretend that those funds are used for things like The Interstate System, NASA, or applied research in emerging technology. Further pretend that multiple generations of Americans benefit from these things.
Now, explain to me why you all seem to think it is ‘better’ (as evidenced by your derisive admonition of anything like a revenue increase) for that $ to be sitting in a Cayman Islands bank account for generations instead of being used for the good of America at large.
I am not, for the record, advocating anything like the 90% tax rates of a Sweden – I think that something like the 38% we saw under Clinton (when we ran 5 years in a row of budget surpluses, for the record) was a great level. Am I a ‘socialist’? A ‘Marxist’? (Was Clinton? Eisenhower?)
So… I point these things out. A perfectly reasonable observation, and a perfectly reasonable question.

Logic – first of all you assume that you are reasonable – wrong;
second you assume that your “revenues” will be used for the common good of infrastructure, while reality demonstrates that nothing could be further from the truth. It has been used to prop up unions, failing state and city economies collapsing under the weight of union contracts, socialist pensions, etc.
Third you assume that Clinton had something to do with the boom of the 1990′s while a closer look shows that the Republican controlled Congress getting control of spending, taxes and especially welfare reform is what brought about the boom economy of that period, not Billy “where’s my humidor, Monica” Clinton.

The chart there says it all, since 1954, EVERY TIME tax rates have gone down, tax receipts have gone up, period. You are just simply wrong about the relationship between taxes and “revenues” which is a misnomer and a way that liberal redistribution filth categorize taxes to make it sound better.
If you are a socialistic redistributionist as I suspect, then you won’t care because you you will refuse to recognize the facts that demonstrate how your ideology has FAILED, REPEATEDLY throughout history. The false choice you offer of an Eisenhower/Interstate road system or Reagan / NASA versus the Obama special interest giveaways to unions and campaign bundler’s is at best hypocritical. There is NO Constitutional authority for the federal government to confiscate money and property from one person and give to another that that they deem more worthy. Getting the government to do your stealing for you is still . . . . stealing.
Imagine a Conservative President practicing the same kind of theft, which they never would. That President takes from YOU a Liberal and gives it to the NRA to fund overturning the current anti-2nd Amendment gun laws, or better still to fund the direct purchase of firearms by individuals who don’t want to spend their own money. How would that be for you? It is EXACTLY the same thing.
I don’t want the damn government doing ANYTHING that the Constitution doesn’t allow them to do.

Lower the tax rates, especially capital gains and huge money will come back into America. For proof, check out the current failing socialist countries in Europe, as they squeeze harder to get more “revenue” the wealthy take their money out of the country. Your plan fails EVERY SINGLE TIME but you are too blind to see it. Leftist sniveling about “fairness” makes me sick, how old are you any way, 5? Grow the hell up, get a job, make the best living you can, expect others to do the same, mind your own damn business and keep your stinking nose out of my business.

The rich may profit off the labor of their EMPLOYEES, but those EMPLOYEES also profit. No one can make many money off the backs of the UNEMPLOYED poor; but Left can make political power off of them, so that’s why they want so many people to get poor and stay poor.

For starters, why would you assert that taxes are not redistributive? This isn’t in lock-step with your messiah’s fund-raising campaign. Logic dictates, (and I’m not referring to your inaptly appropriated handle,) that the government collects a tax in order that it can afford to serve the populace. Imagine the economy to be an internal combustion gasoline engine; gasoline is cash, and taxes are loads on the horsepower put out by the engine and redistribution is intended to make the gas last longer. So, the engine has a limit on how much output it can offer by the supply of gas, but the gas is taxed 38% decreasing effective output immediately. Redistribution of gas is intended to make the gas available to other engines, but it isn’t enough gas to even warm up the other engines. The redistribution was a waste and the balance of the untaxed gas is leaned out to get the motor to, at the very least, limp along to the next station. See? Your plan is patently a killer. And by the way, so is your guy.
