TSA Agent: Theft Is Very Commonplace

Why was the system so hard on former TSA agent Pythias Brown as to throw him in jail for 3 years? True, he got caught. But as he points out, everybody does it:

Pythias Brown admits to stealing more than $800,000 worth of cash, clothing and electronics over a four-year period at Newark Liberty International Airport. He was finally caught trying to sell a stolen CNN camera on eBay. …

Though Brown says he might have been one of the biggest thieves at the Transportation Security Administration, he believes the agency has a culture of entitlement — and of looking the other way. …

TSA agents on the take justify their actions, he explained.

“They aren’t paying me, they’re treating me wrong. They’re doing this and they’re doing that. And they just don’t care,” he said of some of his former colleagues.

Nearly 400 TSA officers have been fired for stealing since 2003, according to the agency, which is charged with providing security for passengers and freight.

But Brown says the fired TSA officers might be the tip of the iceberg.

Theft “was very commonplace. Very,” he said. …

He said most of the valuable items are taken out of carry-on bags that pass through screenings and X-ray machines while their owners make their way through security checkpoints and metal detectors.

The last person you would trust is a thief — that is, someone who makes a living through theft and coercion. Yet the government makes its living through theft and coercion, and we trust it to make us safe, with predictable consequences.

Should anyone be shocked that the TSA, which is just another worthless FedGov agency, is filled with AA hires? And those AA hires statistically and historically possess criminal behavior traits far above the population mean that manifest when they believe no one is watching? TSA is the reason I no longer fly. It’s employees are the dregs of society that in most cases should be rotting in a jail cell. One of George W. Bush’s biggest failures as President was creating Homeland Security and the TSA clowns that fall under that organization.

  3. Mickey Shea says:

Government jobs have no accountability. This is no surprise, we have known it for a long time. There is absolutely no threat of being fired or losing your pension. The SEC employees who spent their time surfing porn while Madoff was looting the fund actually ended up
getting bonuses.Getting caught like this guy is extremely
rare, akin to getting hit by a meteorite.

  4. sth_txs says:

Another Republican boondoggle, the TSA. Why should I even bother voting Republican again? This is another reason why I hate flying though thanks to the spendthrift money printing policies under both parties, I can’t say I can afford to fly very often anyway.

  5. chuck in st paul says:

who else do you think is going to take these jobs…? duh.

sth_txs, it was a bi-partisan disaster, not a one party screw up. The public was screaming, “Protect me!!!” So, the Congress came up with this scam and convinced Bush that he’d be a hero. It went much like the stupid drugs addition to the Medicare debacle.

  6. Son of Taz says:

Airports don’t have to have the TSA; they can hire their own security.

If airport directors were smart they should start doing that right now. Of course, in many locations, the airport management are hacks that do nothing, earn a lot of money and just hide out waiting to collect their 80% pension.

  7. Rotohammer says:

And the TSA agent running the full body scanner wanted to give me crap about not taking my wallet out of my pocket. I just looked him in the eye and said nothing until his little tantrum was over.

Dumbasses, just yuze yo EBT. Obama, he pay ma gas, he pay ma mogej.

  9. Alphamail says:

    Repeat after me, “I am a victim…I am a victim…I am a…”

Pretty soon they’ll simply ask you if they can have your iPad when they look in your luggage?

    Oops, spastic finger.

I assume mr browns photo was taken in his jail cell?

Pythias? That’s a girls name…. More like PYTHETIC.

Pythias was the adopted daughter of Aristotle.
Now I didn’t know Aristotle but you sir,are no kin to that bloodline.

  15. Henry says:

They work for the government; of course they’re going to steal from you!

I see Drury beat me to the second half of my comment.

Son of Taz, ObrownMao put a stop to that.

  16. Chris says:

Neil Boortz witnessed his luggage being rifled and items being stolen while he was going through the “extra” security procedures. According to his report on his program, he reported this to the TSA at the time and they refused to take action. If we don’t take this country back soon, it will be too late.

  17. Jester says:

Airports don’t have to have the TSA; they can hire their own security

Not while their own employees are too busy setting up hijackings.

Now remind me again why the private sector cannot handle airport security ?

    ______________

Redistribute the wealth. That is what the gobmnt does. This TSA agent felt he was entitled to what other folks owned, which is Obama’s fundamental philosophy. Only difference is that TSA can’t make their own laws…oh wait…when did Congress pass the “body scanning act of 2010?”

  21. Leonard Jones says:

Could anyone look at me with a straight face and tell me they did not see this coming?

A Democrat Congress under GWB created the Department Of
Homeland Security. They created a massive bureaucracy
by training thousands of 11 dollar an hour high school
drop outs on the taxpayer dime.

GWB managed to prevent the Dems from unionizing these
brain dead slackers. I ride with these idiots every
fucking day on the Metro Rail.

If these morons are charged with keeping America safe,
we are doomed! The minute they begin patting down
Middle Eastern men, and start giving a pass to the 80
year old women they are now giving gynecological exams,
I may cut them some slack.

Until then, the entire program is a joke!

If you hire low life’s and morons, this is the logical
conclusion. If this guy stole $800,000, I am sure there
is someone in the TSA that makes him look like a piker!

Welcome to Obama’s Brave New Kleptocracy.

  22. Jimbo says:

Take away the armed forces, 90% of all government employees are worthless lazy thieves, under any administration.

  23. Vic Kelley says:

That hoodrat does not need any more time in front of a camera or microphone. It talks as if it was a victim and is doing us a favor. What a crock. Lock the POS up it is a thief and I really don’t care to hear what it has to say. If it wants to talk to a prosecutor and tell its story to him/her then I’d understand that. Otherwise, shut it up.
