A Refugee From Communism Describes Hope & Change

Thomas Peterffy — who escaped socialist Hungary to build a business (Interactive Brokers) that employs thousands in the USA — nails it:

“Yes, in socialism, the rich will be poorer. But the poor will also be poorer.”

Why anyone would want the rich to be poorer is a mystery to those uncorrupted by envy, but liberals want it so badly that they are more than willing to sacrifice the poor to achieve their objective.

Of course, the poorer the poor are, the more dependent they are on Big Government, so plunging them ever deeper into poverty is actually a plus for statists.

As for the middle class — under communism, there is no middle class. The plan according to Lenin is to grind it out of existence “between the millstones of taxation and inflation.”

If we don’t start listening to the warnings from those who have seen collectivism up close, it will soon be too late to turn back.

This is the kind of immigrant we USED to want coming here. He is ‘the American dream’ in fact and deed.

Instead we’re bringing in mooslimes from $hitmalia who want to turn us into a seventh century failed state like the one they screwed up, and peasants with less than a third grade education who can’t speak English, none of whom want to assimulate and become “Americans”. Instead, they are nothing but invaders and colonizers here to grab off what they can while turning us into another train wreck of a nation.

During a TEA party protest in 2009, I met a girl wearing a sign “I used to live in Russia; I hate socialism.”

Socialism is like everyone sitting on party bikes; bicycles that have seats for 5 or 6 people. Those in favor of socialism think that if they can get Lance Armstrong to sit on their bike, everything will be great. After pedaling for a couple of miles, Lance will notice that he’s the only one pedaling and he isn’t going any faster than the other bikes.

A friend of my mother, who died in 2009, was an escapee from Communist Hungary in 1956, at the age of 16 (hiding for 3 days in the woods, crawling under barbed wire through mud to finally walk across the Austrian border). He commented on a NYT article regarding the return of the Trabant:

“The Trabant to Return…? NO THANKS! Especially no if it comes with institutionalized ‘Socialist’ terror, supercilious Russian exploitation, the secret police, class war and class hatred a la Karl Marx, midnight arrests and political murders! Hate the very sight of it with its heinous ‘memories’!”

If that’s how he felt after only a few months of ObrownMao’s regime, I can only imagine what he would say today. RIP Laszlo.

  4. Bob Roberts says:

There are two ways to “level the playing field”:

    1) Remove barriers to achievement and let each person, according to their own talents and motivation, achieve as much as they possibly can.

    2) Punish achievement while rewarding failure, thus bringing everyone down to the lowest common level, mire us in misery and offer false hope as long as we keep giving their ilk more power.

The second path is the one Obama and the Democrats want to put us on permanently.

I think the choice in 2012 is clear.

    Additional Lenin quotes:

“A lie told often enough becomes truth”

“The goal of socialism is communism.”

“One man with a gun can control 100 without one. ”

“It is true that liberty is precious – so precious that it must be rationed”

“Life here under apartheid was bad, but now it is more bad.”
