Atlas Shrugged Part II Opens Tonight
The bumper crop of promising countermoonbat movies continues with Atlas Shrugged Part II, which opens tonight:
Ayn Rand’s inspiring epic depicting the struggle against moonbattery has never been more timely. Find where it’s playing near you right here.
On a tip from J.

The problem is this: Outside of the statement about “Capitalism Doesn’t Work”, the average sheeple will look at this trailer and think the bad guys are CONSERVATIVES.
The Leftists have spent decades conditioning the public that we are, “The Man” of story and legend……the same way they insist that the Nazis were somehow “Right Wingers”
For those of us that are familiar with Ayn Rand, have read Atlas Shrugged, or are actually planning to sdee the movie, the meaning is clear.
Preaching to the choir, as they say.
How many people will watch that trailer while they are waiting for the latest Hollywood trash to start, and come away with exactly the WRONG message?
Can Ayn Rand’s message survive Orwell?

Already got my tickets. They were free after I bought a $6 custom made t-shirt from Vistaprint!
My first thumbnail review: It wasn’t as pure as Pt 1 – I think the desperate circumstances of production for 1 made it have a sort of clear flow. This is more hectic and colored. But the thriller aspect and econ-political passion of the book still shines through. A number of unfortunate continuity errors and such – some quite severe. The Richard Halley sequence was bad. Dagny seems overly tired even with the world collapsing, but Rearden’s character was more or less successfully updated for 2012, and his clotted marriage makes more sense given our times. Some very interesting adaptative decisions (e.g., making TT have a central nerve center and having Dave Mitchum work there). Eddie Willers is a stronger character, seems a better match for Dagny. Francisco stands out – he has the burning passion (almost mystical) of someone who has seen another world. Not much like the Francisco of the book – the Zorro-inspired D’Anconia has become more an avenging/liberating angel, but through him we hear some of the purer moments of Rand’s voice come through. (There’s not much of it in the movie – the plot and some of the relationships have been extracted.) During some of the film I felt uncomfortable with the tonal departure from Rand. I whispered to C., “This is the novel, fractured and rendered into Muzak.” But there were moments of truth and beauty and passion.
There is no way a movie could capture the complete book in two movies. It would take at least 10 movies of 2 hours apeice to even get close to the movie. Just like LOTR it is just to VAST a scope to follow in one or two movies.
What would be interesting is to take one or two whole chapters and make a movie or movies of it. Espically when Galt talks to the world. Even when Readern is in the court room and play that into a movie alone.
Just take sections of th book and make movies out of those sections. This could also get the point across.
Ayn Rand was a phophet for sure. Everything in the book has been going on for at least the last 20 years in this country. To bad we do not have another one around like her to help enlighten us to the evils of socialism and all the libturds that bow down to it everyday.

I loved the book and really looked forward to the movie(s), but in all honesty have to admit this last installment was the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Just awful. It made me think it was made to discredit capitalism itself. It’s a pity some real professionals didn’t get behind this project and make a worthwhile production.
this one is expected to bomb worse then part 1.
I saw it on opening night and loved the hell out of it! As much as I enjoyed the first installment, I have to admit that Part II is better. Then again, it had better material to work with (i.e., the furnace explosion at Rearden Steel, Hank’s trial, Directive 10-289, the Taggart Tunnel disaster, etc.). There’s even a cameo appearance by that normally-silent Teller guy.
A few gripes: the final bits of dialogue seemed a little over-the-top, although the director could have been deliberately adding a layer of surrealism. The buildup to the tunnel disaster isn’t as well laid out as it was in the book. And they cut out the pirate guy completely.
My wife and I saw it yesterday and loved it.
Saw it Friday! Loved it. It was better than part 1, I’m thinking of going back and seeing it again.
Thought it was very timely, especially with the spiking gas prices and the OWS protesters
