Afghan Woman of Courage Throws Women in Jail for Adultery
There really is a War on Women, just as Democrats claim. What they don’t tell you is that it is taking place in the Muslim world, not here, and that they aren’t necessarily on women’s side — as demonstrated by their fawning over Afghanistan’s Maria Bashir:
Ms Bashir has been lauded by both Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton – and she was one of ten women to receive a ‘Women of Courage’ Award in Washington last year.
But Maria Bashir’s reputation is now in doubt after the Times revealed that Ms Bashir is also the most prolific prosecutor of women for Afghanistan’s so-called ‘moral’ crimes, such as adultery. …
[M]ore than half of the 172 women jailed in Afghanistan for sex outside of marriage (known as ‘zina’) have come from her province [… and] 101 out of 136 women serving in Herat’s women jail are there for adultery, one of the moral crimes which campaigners for women’s rights are trying to remove from Afghanistan.
Maybe she makes up for it by giving all the girls free contraceptives.

truth be told, I don’t think it’s all that bad. IMO if we’re to take marriage as a serious, binding, contract, then there should be contracts where adultery has legal ramifications. IMO, not all marriage contracts should be like that, but it should be an option for consenting couples to enter a contract that is like that.
Michelle and Hillary are just following their own pattern. They think “Champions of Women” involve killing women before they have a chance to be born in the name of ‘Choice’. It is no surprise that they would laud a woman that has the same level of hatred of women as they do.
Adultery has legal consequences — it’s called divorce. We don’t have enough jails now to keep all the real criminals in so let’s not start jailing adulterers. If you want to live under Sharia law, KC, feel free to go to a Muslim country.

Before the great, liberal Sexual Degeneration of the sixties and seventies there were much steeper consequences and greater public shaming for adultery. This was a cross-cultural norm, and in the past it was even more severe. You compare my opinion to Sharia, but really what you are defending is more like the meaningless “open marriages” that degenerate liberals love. If you violate contractual obilgations then release from those obligations is the kind of crime & punishment liberals would approve. It’s like saying “There already are consequences for abortion –you no longer have a kid!”

Under sharia, if a woman gets raped and accuses a man of raping her, a woman’s testimony is worth eaxctly half that od a man’s (it says so in the Koran). So, when the man says it was consentual sex, his tetimony trumps hers, and she is convicted of adultery.
But that doesn’t happen too often. When a woman gets raped, her father or brother or other male relative will kill her to hide the shame the rape brought on the family. This is called an “honor killing,” an oxymoron if there ever was one.
Women in prison for adultery in a Muslim country are the victims of rape who escaped being “honor killed” by their fathers.
