Energy Companies Forced to Hire Sea Turtle Monitors
One reason the economy does not thrive under rule by liberals is that companies are forced to waste time and resources on ideologically driven moonbat absurdity:
The Department of Interior (DOI) is requiring private oil companies to hire marine mammal and sea turtle monitors if the companies are granted a lease to drill offshore. A marine mammal observer’s job is to watch for whales, dolphins, and similar sea creatures and to advise on minimizing the underwater noise created by offshore drilling, which can affect the sea mammals.
Among other ridiculous and onerous requirements, those attempting to provide us with the energy we need will be forced to
“observe for marine mammals and sea turtles while on vessels, reduce vessel speed to 10 knots or less when assemblages of cetaceans are observed, and maintain a distance of 90 meters or greater from whales, and a distance of 45 meters or greater from small cetaceans and sea turtles.”
Coming soon: a requirement that all employees of oil companies fall to their knees and praise Gaia five times daily.
No wonder the Obama Regime keeps missing the deadline for submitting a report on the economic costs of its ubiquitous regulations.

I’ve heard Rush talking about sea turtles. Local Palm Beach officials mandate that shoreline residents extinguish all outside lighting during turtle mating or egg laying season.. sorry if I forgot which.. personally I have to say that sea turtle soup is pretty damn good but EXPENSIVE as hell.
