Alabama Offers Resistance

Hats off to Alabama and its governor:

Governor Robert Bentley on Tuesday announced that Alabama will not set up a state insurance exchange under the federal health care law.

“I am not going to set up a state-based exchange that will create a tax burden of up to $50 million on the people of Alabama. As governor, I cannot support adding such a tax burden onto our citizens,” Governor Bentley said. “The Affordable Care Act is neither affordable nor does it actually improve health care. Congress and the President have said they want to work together to solve the fiscal crisis facing this country, and I suggest they start with this health care bill.”

“I have been speaking individually and in group settings with governors from all over the country, and I feel that a significant number of these governors will take a similar stand,” Governor Bentley added.

If so, America isn’t finished yet.

Governor Bentley will, no doubt, be voted out post haste.

obama had a WH meeting with the leader of the Teachers Union, the leader of SEIU, and Trumka, can you imagine what they recommended as far as negotiation?

  • whotothewhat

Walker has been mulling over setting up exchanges as well hopefully he will follow Alabama’s example.

Two other states actually voted against the mandate and its controls on citizens…

    Montana, Referendum 122
LR-122 is an act “prohibiting the state or federal government from mandating the purchase of health insurance.” It also prohibits the imposition of “penalties for decisions related to the purchase of health insurance coverage.”

Wyoming voters passed a health care freedom amendment to the Declaration of Rights in the state constitution.

The Wyoming Constitution now guarantees citizens of the state the right to make their own healthcare decisions with minimal governmental interference.

Article 1, Section 38 – Right of Health Care Access

    (a) Each competent adult shall have the right to make his or her own health care decisions. The parent, guardian or legal representative of any other natural person shall have the right to make health care decisions for that person.

    (b) Any person may pay, and a health care provider may accept, direct payment for health care without imposition of penalties or fines for doing so.

It passed by a huge margin, 76%-24%

Hooray for Alabama! This is called “Nullification” and it is both desirable and legal. States can refuse to obey unconstitutional edicts of the federal government. Let resistance to Obama’s tyranny spread like a prairie fire!

By whom? The voters in Philadelphia, Cleveland or St. Lucie Cty?

For every tax dollar the Federal Government gets from Alabama, Alabama gets 2.03$ back. I now were we can start cutting to avoid that “fiscal cliff”!

Seems like you are advocating for the federal government to stop spreading the wealth from one state to another. For once, I agree with you completely. I’m sure the good folks in California, New York, etc., will do just fine keeping their tax dollars at home rather than sending them to Podunk Missouri.

With the mood of the country’s White population, especially those living in cities and states controlled by Leftists, you just might want to buy yourself a couple of moving vans. I have the feeling a lot of people will be moving. And if that’s the case, who knows, the South may rise again. Hopefully.

tax-paying liberals will have to feel lots of personal pain from the policies they’ve been voting for before all this stops. hope their sick kids and parents can get the medical care they need when they need it, but it’s doubtful. policy creates constraint, not freedom.
