With Today’s Republicans, There Would Still Be Slavery

Unless you relied completely on public school for your education, you probably know that the Republican Party was established primarily to end slavery, and that it did so against ferocious resistance from Democrats that continued right into the 20th century in the form of the Ku Klux Klan. Anyone relying on MSNBC for their education would probably have this backward:

According to the liberal rewrite of history, Lincoln was okay despite being a Republican — because he was just like Barack Hussein Obama.

What Lincoln will look like in future history textbooks.

  • Passably Affable

I think this guy is right. Today’s GOP might NOT have been willing to stand up to Democrats for liberty.

  • 762×51

Is it my imagination or does the PMSNBC schmuck on the left look like Rocky Balboa’s brother-in-law Paulie?

  • Sam Adams

Whether the GOP stands up to the democrats or not, the democrat party is the party of slavery and their platform is to enslave us even more today.

  • Clam bake

I think if you write the first sentence of this article on a baseball bat and whack that idiot in the head a few dozen times with it, he might begin to understand.

  • Ghost of FA Hayek

Unfortunately, the majority now define work as slavery, and “free” as in “free sh**”

  • Dr. 9

With todays republicans, we won’t have enough of our country left to live in. They are now advocating an amnesty plan to pander to Hispanics in order to get their votes in the next election. They are actually worried about people who are here illegally!

Oh right, because 150 years ago the Democrats were racists from the South and the Republican party abolitionists from the North, that makes all the liberals pro-slavery. F*** LBJ, he never did a thing for the black man! Oh, wait, right…
But hey, because taxation is slavery, everybody that wants the poor help not being poor is a advocate of slavery. That’s what the Founding Fathers said right? “No slavery without representation!”

The actual question isn’t whether you are Republican or Democrat, but whether you are revisionist, conservative, liberal or progressive – and for his time, Lincoln was progressive. If you’d know what these terms actually meant, you’d know that. But hey who needs truth when you have FOX News, World Net Daily and Moonbattery.

Other countries conservatives have leg up on you folks, they have learned how to say “whoops, we messed that one up, sorry for that”.

“The actual question isn’t whether you are Republican or Democrat, but whether you are revisionist, conservative, liberal or progressive – and for his time, Lincoln was progressive.”

So was Hitler… for his time!

    *yawn*

    Got anything else, Spanky?

  • SmiteTheStupid

Really? The best you can do is a Goodwin? *yawn*
All four of those mainstream ideologies in American politics are based on classical liberalism, but Hitler denied the common denominator of all four: democracy. So no, Hitler was not a progressive and neither was he a conservative.

But your way of arguing makes a good point of what is wrong American politics today. The nation has come to care more about association than about issues, although that again is something revisionist ideologues have furthered.
It’s sad really, to see a good nation have come done with such stupidity as to give more value whether a candidates skin colour or behaviour in High School than about his political positions.

  • A. Levy

    Smite said:
“The nation has come to care more about association than about issues…”

That’s because it is those political associations, agendas, and ideologies that shape the issues. And, in spite of what you Canadian liberals believe, it has nothing to do with skin color. (not colour) Candidates are either qualified or they are not. And in the case of the Marxist currently sitting in the WH, there are no qualifications to even consider.

  • Comrade J

I see another historical illiterate is here to cough up his hair ball… lol, tell me ‘the Stupid’ how does it feel to be a part of a herd?

  • Sam Adams

But hey, because taxation is slavery, everybody that wants the poor help not being poor is a advocate of slavery.
    ________

    1. The founding fathers didn’t believe in income tax. The first several times that income tax was used, it was declared unconstitutional.

Now…Is income tax a form of slavery? Lemme see….I work an 8 hour day. At a 25% tax rate, I actually take home six hours worth of pay and the government takes 2 hours of my pay. So who did I work for during those two hours? The women who gets the free ObamaPhone? The people on disability who are disabled because they are “depressed” or have a lot of back pain? How about the politician who gives money to his campaign contributors in the form of green energy grants? How about the politician who sends money to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt?

Yes, indeed…I’m actually working for those other folks for those two hours…two hours without compensation. And you know what happens if I don’t pay the government for that two hours worth of work? Yep; they take money out of my bank account, and if I continue to disagree, they send me to prison.

Tell me again how I am a free man?

What people don’t realize is that the Democrat party is the same as it always was. It is the Republican party that has historically changed, unfortunately into the coward party.
