New York Times Editorial Calls for Canceling the Constitution

Having managed to reelect Barack Hussein Obama despite his abysmal performance, the hard left “mainstream” media is beginning to feel free to take off the mask. Calls for jettisoning the Constitution that has held this country together for over two centuries are growing louder. From the vile yet extremely influential New York Times:

Our obsession with the Constitution has saddled us with a dysfunctional political system, kept us from debating the merits of divisive issues and inflamed our public discourse. Instead of arguing about what is to be done, we argue about what James Madison might have wanted done 225 years ago.

As someone who has taught constitutional law for almost 40 years, I am ashamed it took me so long to see how bizarre all this is. Imagine that after careful study a government official — say, the president or one of the party leaders in Congress — reaches a considered judgment that a particular course of action is best for the country. Suddenly, someone bursts into the room with new information: a group of white propertied men who have been dead for two centuries, knew nothing of our present situation, acted illegally under existing law and thought it was fine to own slaves might have disagreed with this course of action. Is it even remotely rational that the official should change his or her mind because of this divination?

The Constitution should go in the garbage because it was produced by “white propertied men.” This juvenile posturing passes for thought among the malicious vermin who constitute the liberal intelligentsia.

They have crippled Christianity, reengineered our demographics, and corroded our character to the point that we tolerate being ruled by people who despise our country. When the Constitution topples, there will be nothing left of the foundations of America. The path will be clear for progressives to create another of their nightmare utopias, as they did under Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot.

We need to stop thinking of liberals as debating opponents and acknowledge that they are an enemy committed to our annihilation and the eradication of everything an American holds dear.

The CONSTITUTION must matter. Otherwise, why would I be down here on the 8th Circle?

  • James McEnanly

In the space of about 20 years, those “white propertied men.” had seen their colonies go from pretty much independent states to what we would call a police state, with armed troops everywhere. Much of what became the Bill of Rights came from the abuses suffered at that time.

  • Eleanor in Hell

Why? Franklin, it would take Eternity to answer that question.

  • Dr. 9

The MSM would have you believe it’s only the “right-wing nuts” who are preparing. It’s not.

“Imagine that after careful study a government official — say, the president or one of the party leaders in Congress — reaches a considered judgment that a particular course of action is best for the country”

Like, oh, Obama serving for life? I’m sure Obama would say that’s best for the country. How about the Senate “deeming” one of their bills was passed by the House (like a civilian gun ban perhaps?) to prevent the Republicans from stopping it becoming law.

  • Jeff

The question ought to be: Time magazine, Does it still matter? It is part of the dead tree media. Why would anyone want to read that weekly propaganda rag?

  • Stephan The Original

Isaac Newton knew nothing of cars and space missions to the moon either, but the colour of his hair or the length of time he’s been dead (he died in 1727, btw) has nothing to do with the validity or enduring relevance of his work. Just try building a Ford or Saturn rocket without reference to Newton, mister NYT, and see how you go.

Whoever wrote that editorial is as idiotic as it gets.

  • justme

Any laws written by “propertied white men” should be ignored, expedite the wealth redistribution!!

Those White Devils who slaughtered the poor defenseless Noble Savages and stole their land deserve no property- take it from their descendants and give it to the blacks Urban Robin Hoods are in every ghetto and prison!

  • A. Levy

It’s not surprising to see the NY Slimes “coming out”, as it were. They have been watching the Marxist-in-Chief insulting and ignoring the Constitution since his first day in politics, (and getting away with it) and they are obviously in total agreement. It’s also one of the benifits of having what is bascially, a one-party system of govt.

They are also taking advantage of the fact that at no other time in our history have the American people been as weak, distracted, gullible, and stupid. The Left knows this is their time, and they are going for broke.

  • Ummah Gummah

    .

How about all us white men pick up and go and leave the NYT editorial board with the sav.. er.. the rest of the population..?

The Constitution is the only thing that separates us from tyranny.

Tyranny is exactly what the New York Times describes in its call to toss out the Constitution: a ruler or body of rulers doing whatever they think is “best”, with no restrictions or outside definition of what “best” is. Congressman Joe Crook decides lining his own pockets with taxpayer money is “best” for the country? Okie dokie. Dear Leader Obama decides it would be “best” for the country to do away with Congress so he can transform America faster? Why not? The Constitution, especially the Second Amendment, is the only thing that protects us from these flagrant abuses of power, and it’s barely standing as it is.

We are a lot less free than we used to be. But we are a lot more free than the rest of the world, and as long as we hold to the Constitution and work to restore its rightful place as law of the land we have the greatest potential to restore our lost freedom. If you want to live your life enslaved from cradle to grave by an all powerful state, supposedly “for your own good”, there are any number of countries you can choose from. But if America falls and becomes just another one of those countries, where can the people who desire freedom, responsibility, rule of law, and prosperity go? There is nowhere left. We’d be back in the Dark Ages, without a New World to escape to.

  • whotothewhat

As someone who has stood and raised my right hand and taken the Oath of Enlistment, would see the act of canceling the Constitution as a act of war.

I am sure many others would also.

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

The next time you see the Left marching for one of their causes walk up to them, take their sign and slam it to the ground. They will be the first to decry their First Amendement rights and demand your incarceration. Just smile at them serenely and say, First Amendements rights, that tired old document?!

  • Jimbo

“We need to stop thinking of liberals as debating opponents and acknowledge that they are an enemy committed to our annihilation…”

That’s been my position for a dozen years. You can’t debate stinking liberal fools.

  • Logic_Mine

Sounds like “JustMe” is another ignorant RACIST.

To him, EQUAL RIGHTS means SPECIAL RIGHTS made just for his kind.

Even if he said it sarcastically, it underlines the fact that people like him DO EXIST and even worse is that people like him are in POWER.

    Happy New Year.

  • Highway Hospital Student

Again the NYT fails to understand that the first amendment put into place by “propertied white men” is what allowed the NYT to exist in the first place and still allows the drivel to spew from the typewriters of their staff congenital idiots.

The “propertied white men” phrase is patently revealing: it is the continued war on whites that liberals are obsessed with. The white man is the root of all evil in their opinion —an opinion shared by liberal white “men” (sic) as well.

And of course, that would be the view of BO who characterized the Constitution–which he hypocritically
swears to uphold—as a “flawed” document. There has never been a president who has made it easier to see who is “flawed” between the left and right.

Now all the NYT needs to do is team up with Justice Ruth Ginsberg (old scag on the POTUS) who incredibly enough, believes that the Constitution should not have been the model for the new Egyptian constitution.

What the NYT further fails to understand is that without the “propertied white men” the mechanism and infrastructure of their ghastly operations would cease to exist.

To test the hypothesis that it takes “propertied white men” to run their operations, I would certainly advocate that the NYT gets rid of the last few remaining white men running their presses.

This is exactly what liberalism always does, blame the the dysfunction caused by liberal policies on insufficient liberalism.

Our economy is crippled by statist interference; this is blamed on excessive capitalism which can be fixed by more statist interference.

Our families are fractured and people impoverished by government subisdization of dysfunction; the cure is more government subsidization of dysfunciton.

Our government has stopped functioning as it has strayed outside the bounds of the Constitution; the solution is to abandon the Constitution.

Liberals have railed against the free market, the traditional family, and American individualism for decades as the oppressive institutions of evil white males. As they grow in power, the calls for eliminating these institutions and their source grow ever louder. They obviously think the time for the real “Change” is near at hand.

That building is only 2 blocks away from terrorist Bill Ayers’ stomping grounds and the building in which his Weatherman buddies blew themselves up.

It’s actually kind of cool to check out the building now. It was rebuilt with the facade offset angled from the rest of the buildings on the street; the owners keep a Paddington Bear in the front window and dress him according to the weather. Get it? Weather… Weathermen… heh.

The Constitution isn’t to be adhered to because of what James Madison might have wanted done 225 years ago.

Do any moonbats have any argument isn’t based on straw man premises and out and out lies?

Everything those damn people profess to believe in are nothing but rationalizations for power and control over others.

  • JohnG911

Given that no one in government adheres to it anyway, how would cancelling it be any different?

  • http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/REwilberforce.htm Wilberforce

Selectively ignore it, abdicate responsibility, rule by decree/executive order, treat court opinions as though they’re law, creeping cultural rot, etc. The perfect storm.

  • A. Levy

    Laurie says:
“Why are we still tolerating this?”

Laurie, it’s because a long time ago, the Left instituted a plan called, “the dumbing down of America”. Basically, it was meant to distract the people and take control of their ability to think for themselves. It was done over decades, slowly and methodically, and spearheaded by the MSM and academia. I’m afraid that plan worked far better than the Left ever dreamed it would. Today, the only thing most people care about is their tweets and which rich black guy Kim Kardouchian is sleeping with this week.

  • Alphamail

    Logic_Mine says:

justme is the white mirror-image of Obama, Van Jones, and Louis Farrakhan.

That sarcasm you smell is his tendentious racist spew which further fuels the leftists to say, “See, conservatives hate black people.”

His ugliness and bile do more to damage the heritage and hope of white people than any NYT article – he cannot consider a concept or ponder a problem without viewing it through the prism of race – very sick indeed.

There is no arguing our white Christian heritage and future is being attacked – literally in the streets, and figuratively in MSM – and we need to be able to fight this ugly trend with the same passion, wisdom, and creative genius that the “young white men” showed when they wrote the Constitution, not with a vile common denominator that would reinforce the left’s asinine argument that we are racist.

Only a dolt would fail to see the stunning intelligence found in the efforts of the white race, from our brilliant founding document of freedom, to photography, mechanical engineering, quantum physics, computer design, preventive medicine , et al, etc, ad infinitum, and…..

Having said that I offer, the white race has contributed to humanity in such prodigious volume, not because of racism, but because we think above it.

As someone who has taught constitutional law for almost 40 years, LOUIS MICHAEL SEIDMAN should be ashamed at how quickly he discarded his alleged allegiances and how bizarre it is that he allowed himself to become brainwashed by Marxists and fools.

It appears that Planet Of The Apes was indeed a prediction of our future, as the primates have more sense than many humans of diminitutive intellect, of which LOUIS MICHAEL SEIDMAN is a prime example.

  • Highway Hospital Student

“The utopian schemes of leveling (re-distribution of the wealth) and a community of goods (socialism scheme of central ownership of production and distribution), are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government unconstitutional. Now what property can the colonists be conceived to have, if their money may be granted away by others, without their consent?”—Samuel Adams, Boston Gazette, April 4, 1768.

What this is saying is that when you deprive people of their money, you have an equivalent monarchy for all practical purposes.

This is of course, what the founding fathers opposed. The constitution formally guaranteed that their opposition was to be sustained.

So naturally, liberals as lesser intellects and self aggrandizing authoritarians, must come out and advocate for tyranny when they sense that the U.S. is at its most vulnerable.

As indeed it is now, as never before.

  • wingmann

Just another run-of-the-mill, America-hating shyster who knows that the rest-of-us are too damn dumb to understand just how intelligent and clever he is. The Founding Fathers knew their history well, and predicted that this sort of scum would climb up out of the slime someday, and begin lecturing us on why our rights, and our freedom, acknowledged by the Constitution, are now out-of-date. Which is why we have a 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. Never surrender your weapons.

  • Sam Adams

BTW, Herr Professor apparently things that contracts are silly documents, since he wishes to ignore our fundamental contract which created the federal government government.

Personally I think any contract or policy between Herr Professor and Georgetown University should be torn up or simply ignored. After all, that whole concept of tenure is just such a silly, tired concept. Maybe it would be fun to see the expression on Herr Professor’s face each payday to see what he thinks when the university simply pays him what they think is fair (maybe skipping an occasional paycheck for laughs).

  • http://davidscommonplacebook.wordpress.com David Hoffman

I suppose that when a future president shuts down the New York Times by Presidential Decree they will have no objections. After all, that whole first amendment thing was put in there by white propertied men and should have no relevance to today’s issues, right?

  • Brother Ken

I agree. Let’s get rid of our Constitution in favor of whatever constitution Nazi Germany had, and finally we’ll be able to rid ourselves of the Jewish filth like Seidman and Stengal who have been undermining our societal values, legal system and politics for decades. Or let me guess – you really haven’t noticed the ethnicity of these people who have been undermining our system for all these years?

Maybe it’s time to own up to having been on the wrong side in “The Good War”. What’s left of the things our soldiers fought and died for?

  • Pass the Kool-Aid Comrade

Liberalism is a death cult. Witness hippie dippie wannabes making threats at gun owners. Another sympton that would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic is some jive ass elitist like Chrissy Tingles acting like he is some working class guy. The last working class person he saw he tipped a quarter after the door was held open for his limousine ride. Also this whole hate the white people coming from some pasty hacks like Chrissy Tingles and Quentin Turdantino is sad. Did they look in the mirror this morning and notice they are white? Do they think vibrant diversities look at them as so cool and hip? Ohh…there was a story about toilet paper err I mean time magazine. The constitution and that evil capitalism will still be here when they are long gone.

  • http://www.publici.com Ariel

Reinventing a legal system from scratch, based on “new” / “contemporary” philosophies is a dangerous experiment. Below are the two largest such experiments in the last century:
    1. Communism
    2. Nazism

Is there really a need for more experimentation?

Is sounds synonymous to “let’s throw away our values, and see if we can get some new ones”.

  • bobdog

I don’t suppose it would do any good to point out that liberals would probably be unhappy about what happens the next time conservatives take power.

Which, from what I can see, is very likely to happen two years from now when the country figures out what liberals are doing to our country and our economy.

If I’m wrong about that, it won’t matter, because we’re screwed. As it is, we’re only one economic catastrophe away from total collapse.

And a hap hap happy new year to you all, neighbor.

  • Nicki Thomas

I’ll be honest here, although I hate to start the year on a negative note. The hostile elite that rules over us is going to get a nasty surprise when the shit hits the fan. They keep pushing and prodding and they don’t know when to quit. They’re going to wind up with a civil war before it’s over with.
