The Journal News is feeling some heat from its despicable name & shame attack on lawful gun owners:
In protest, bloggers posted the home addresses and telephone numbers of Journal News editors and staff. Also circulating was the personal and family contact information for the Chairwoman of Gannett.
In addition to the Journal News, which serves the northern suburbs of NYC, Gannett also publishes USA Today and Phoenix’s Arizona Repugnant I mean Republic, among others.
New York State Rifle & Pistol Association is calling for a boycott:
The paper’s decision to publish an online list of pistol permit holders [complete with names and addresses] was a “wanton act” that “has put in harm’s way tens of thousands of lawful license holders,” the association stated in a news release.
The group is encouraging “concerned citizens” to contact national and local advertisers who use the Journal News — including Best Buy, CVS, IKEA and Target, among others — and tell them to stop running ads until the list of lower Hudson Valley pistol license holders is off the Web.
Public outrage has the antigun moonbats at the Journal News feeling so terrified that they have rushed to the comfort provided by firearms. The loathsome publication
has hired armed security guards to defend its offices after receiving a torrent of phone calls and emails responding to the paper’s publication of the names and addresses of area residents with pistol permits.
The hypocrisy doesn’t stop there:
According to an Editor’s Note accompanying this reporter’s article revealing the home addresses of all licensed pistol owners, “Journal News reporter Dwight R. Worley owns a Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum and has had a residence permit in New York City for that weapon since February 2011.”
Pistol permits are almost impossible to obtain in Michael Bloomberg’s authoritarian dystopia. But as David Gregory so theatrically demonstrated, gun laws are meant to control the little people, not journalists.
Feeling safe behind the guns they would deny to others, the Journal News has tried to extend its crusade against our natural right of self-defense.
The Journal News continues to host the map on its website and has said that it will soon add a map listing all pistol permit holders in Putnam County.
However, they are encountering some encouraging resistance:
Putnam County officials have since announced their intention to not comply with the Journal News’ request for the names and addresses of pistol permit holders.
Despite liberals’ nearly complete control of the media, many are aware of the totalitarian direction they are taking us in, and are still American enough to resist it. Those within the government who refuse to comply may be our last hope. The noble Oath Keepers are one example; the commendable officials in Putnam County (just north of Westchester County) are another.
