What Is an Assault Weapon?

One of the many reasons our moonbat rulers do not need to ban military “assault rifles” is that they are already virtually illegal. Pay attention, libs; here’s a basic firearms lesson you won’t get from PBS:

Not everything is as superficial as liberal ideology. What matters is what the gun does, not how it looks.

On a tip from St. Gilbert.

All this time I thought it was an “Insult Weapon”.

  • gemalo

Why do we keep saying they are illegal? With the right license and taxes paid, automatic weapons can be owned. They are heavily regulated and expensive, but illegal they are not.

  • Comrade Terry

While we’re on the subject of nomenclature, may we talk about clips and magazines?

  • IslandLifer

It has reached a point where you must determine for yourself what is and isn’t illegal. I prefer the constitution and the bible as my reference point.

None of this is very confusing if you look at, not the weapons or the rhetoric, but what the basic goal of the left is. And that is, “a total ban on all guns“, ala Britain.

The catch phrases used by the Left and their MSM, such as “military-style assault weapons“, is simply meant to demonize the item in the public’s mind. And, as with everything else the left wants to ban, (tobacco, soda, salt, etc.) the first step is to always have their MSM demonize the item. That turns the public against it, and often the public isn’t even sure what they’re against.

When you listen closely to the Leftist argument about firearms, it sounds like what they truly dislike is “the appearance” (“military-style“) of these weapons, as demonstrated in the video. Of course, all of the semantics are just a cover to keep from coming out and saying what they are truly after. An all-out ban of firearms. And don’t think for one minute that’s not what they’re going for.

If they want to ban assault weapons, does that mean non-assault weapons would still be permitted? And, since every kind of weapon is designed for assault as well as defense, just what would a non-assault weapon be?

  • Nathaniel M

Notice how he refers to the Stockton schoolyard shooting in ’89 30 seconds into the video. Yet again the squawking know-nothings want feel good gun restrictions when indefatigable mad men are to blame. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_School_massacre

To me, an “assault weapon” is forceps owned by planned parenthood. They’ve been brazenly bragging about murdering hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of babies last year. Gruesome, bloody, dismembering murders of the absolutely helpless.

    LIBERALS ARE MASS MURDERERS
    All of them.

  • Dr. 9

And, 45% of those murders are being funded by the tax-paying fools of this country.

  • bobdog

These guys just hate assault weapons because they’re black, which has always seemed racist to me.

My favorite was Nancy Pelosi a couple of weeks ago, vowing to get those “assault magazines” off the street.

    .

Obama is the Ultimate Assault Weapon on America. He was perfectly designed to avoid proper vetting and media scrutiny by virtue of a built-in tan, which was used by him and a compliant sycophantic media to silence even the merest attempt at investigation and exploration of his past and his views, as might pertain to the public making an informed and rational decision as to his suitability for the office of President.

    Talk about Teflon..

I live in hurricane country and I’ve been thinking about buying a gun to protect my property from looters if it ever comes to that. I really wish that whenever one of these liberals tools asks “why would you ever want a scary looking assault weapon?” someone says “SO I DON’T EVER HAVE TO USE IT!”
I’m a 5 foot 3 inch middle aged fat woman with a deaf Pomeranian. I want a gun so scary looking, so badass looking, that anybody who sees it runs. As far away as they can get.

  • Jeff

Would those liberals who feel that those “assault weapons” are too scary because of how they look feel better if they were pink with a Hello Kitty logo on them?

If you’re on a budget, a 12-gauge Mossberg 500 Pump Shotgun is economical, reliable, and quite effective for both intimidation and as an actual weapon if necessary. Plus, it’s the “Small-Block Chevy” of shotguns, with a wide array of even-scarier looking accessories……some of which are actually useful. Spend a few extra dollars and buy the mil-spec 590……it comes with a lug for the military-issue M-7 or M-9 military bayonet and an extra-long magazine tube.

BUT – if you REALLY want to scare people away, forget the shotgun – just get yourself a broom and a Nancy Pelosi mask, and end every sentence with, “……..and your little dog, too!!!!”
