Commie Kids Say the Darnedest Things

Considering that the federal government is spending over $3.5 trillion per year, that it is running yearly deficits of well over $1 trillion, that the national debt is over $16.5 trillion despite government revenues steadily climbing, that unfunded liabilities will run us an estimated $86.8 trillion, and that the entire gross domestic product is about $15.5 trillion, would you say the irresponsible and/or deliberately destructive socialist looters steering this Titanic at a giant iceberg of insolvency have a spending problem? Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t:

“We have to recognize that, which cuts really help us and which cuts hurt our future? And cuts in education [i.e., payoffs to teachers unions], scientific research [i.e., useless green energy boondoggles like Solyndra] and the rest are harmful, and they are what are affected by the sequestration,” she said on “Fox News Sunday.” “So, it is almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem. We have a budget deficit problem that we have to address.”

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) doesn’t see one either. When asked if the country has a spending problem, he replied:

“The country has a paying for problem.”

As if we needed confirmation, now we have it. No matter how much liberals steal, it will never be enough to satiate their pathological greed for other people’s money.

This is a common theme among Liberals, “Thinks would be fine if I just had MORE MONEY to spend.” I hear it from them always.

Like Margaret Thatcher said, it’s all fine, until you run out of other people’s money!

  • a rose by any other

OK folks, same question I always ask: what would you do?

Cut all education outlays? Cut all Social Security? Cut Medicare? Reduce all tax rates to zero? Issue all newborns a minigun and a Bible?

All thinking people are aware that we have to maintain some level of social structure. Infrastructure expenditures – yay or nay? Investment in early childhood education – yay or nay? Investment in future tech (anything from stem cell research to green energy) – yay or nay?

And while you are at it, talk about how you foresee the future going, if you are in favor of eliminating spending on any or all of the above. Who will invent the tech of the future? Who will rebuild our bridges, who will keep up the Interstate system, who will build the next LHC and expand the frontiers of human knowledge, who will take the next steps in renewable energy, who will keep American society from collapsing under the weight of the aging, sick Boomer generation…

(Extra credit for anyone who says the answer to any of the above questions involves “Jesus”).

Uncle Ted hits a bulls-eye with this comment…

    QUOTABLE QUOTES

“[The Republicans] got to quit adjusting their ties and be more forceful. Did you see me fix Piers Morgan? That should be shown at every Republican gathering and say ‘this is how you do that.’ You don’t back off, you don’t acquiesce, you don’t stop your statement to allow him to attack you further. You escalate.”

“It’s almost like Mr. Rogers with Lawrence Welk music. That can’t win anything. The other side is ruthless. They’re just ruthless. They’ll do whatever they have to do. Improvise, adapt and overcome would serve us better.”

“If we improvise, adapt, and overcome, at least the Republicans and conservative – we could remain honest and sincere and everything we stand for we could support we stand for with historical and current facts and logic, but we’re too polite. Maybe that’s why I’m allergic to ties. I see too many Republicans worried about grooming instead of winning…”

    TODAY’S QUESTION

Which Marxist scumbag invented Political Correctness?

    A) Chairman Mao, may he rot in hell the commie bastard?

    B) Some twisted, ultra-leftist U.C. Beserkeley bastard named Herbert Marcuse?

    C) I don’t know, but if the son-of-a-bitch isn’t already dead we should hunt him down and shoot him like a dirty dog!

    D) DUH, what’s Political Correctness?

  • a rose by any other is still a

we could remain honest and sincere and everything we stand for

But… What do you stand for?

    Hating gay people. OK.

    Guns, and more guns. OK.

    Something about Jesus. OK.

Anything else? Anything that might actually make sense to a non-lunatic-fringer? Anything not debunked over and over by actual research and history?

Convince me that the GOP has ideas that might work. I am, after all, a rich white guy… I should be in the GOP wheelhouse (except for the bit where I am educated, I guess).

Why is it that I find the idea of “supply-side” economics completely wrongheaded? I have a degree in Economics, but I’m sure you have a reason that is more convincing than my “math”, and “history”, and “models”… let’s hear it.

Why is it that I am not, in fact, against paying taxes for things that benefit all Americans? Why should I decide that every-man-for-himself is a better way to build a society?

Convince me. Ted Nugent said so himself – you should stand by your principles. Enumerate them.

  • Scotty G.

I have no intention of expending one ounce of energy “convincing” anyone of anything who already thinks I “hate gays”, something babel about guns, and “Jesus” (whatever that means). OK? If you are too ignorant and to realize how much money the Federal Government wastes then attempting to convince you would be pointless. Here’s an idea… how about a Budget?

  • Comrade J

Scotty, there is no intelligent life on the libtardicus ad hominus planet. Beam me up buddy.

  • Tim

A rose by any other name is still a liberal troll, without an ounce of integrity or common sense. But I repeat myself.

  • Comrade J

What’s with the libtards contradicting each other?

    – First the trans-species resident troll rose contradicts Panetta.

    – Now Peloci contradicts Obama’s mouth.

    – And even then Obama’s mouth contradicting CBO.

What kind of shabby second rate propaganda operation is this dear libtards?

  • a rose by any other is still a

You cannot enumerate anything that you actually stand for. You all seem to have a gigantic litany of things you are against… but that is not policy. That is not actionable. That is not, in fact, useful in any way.

You get that, right? The perception that the GOP (especially its fringe elements) are not actually in favor of anything at all that might resonate with a mainstream American is pretty damned pervasive.

Rubio’s speech was full of things he was against… and no mention of how he would approach a new budget. Why? Because nobody wants to cut Soc Sec and Medicare to the bone. But saying that out loud means death in politics.

Rand Paul’s was the same – lots of vitriol about spending, but carefully not a word about how deeply he would cut things to get wherever it is he wants us to go.

Onama said, clearly, that we can invest in smart things, from energy independence to applied research to early education. All of which have a tangible benefit, and I am in favor of.

    You are not, apparently.

Tell us why. Convince people that you have ideas, not just loud, angry opinions.

Are any of you people “thinkers”? Is there any opportunity for some real discourse around what you do</b?, in fact, believe in?

I would be a helluva 'get' for you people. Convince me.

  • StanInTexas

Convince you, Rose? We cannot even convince you to stop telling the LIES about Conservatives that you keep repeating.

There is no possible way to convince a closed-minded Liberal like you of ANYTHING.

  • Comrade J

psst… troll didn’t you claim you ignore conservatives?

oh that’s right you have a short attention span.

Tell me what you are in favor of. Start small (because, you know, i’m stupid and all), but enumerate what you actually want from your government, politics, whatever. Tell me what ideas I am missing that you think are those principles The Nuge is talking about.

I think you can’t. I think you know what you hate _ Obama, and Obama, and Liberals… but you aren’t in favor of anything at all.

Oh, and one more thing: “it will never be enough to satiate their pathological greed for other people’s money”

It isn’t “other people’s money” – it is our money. We can decide to elect people we think will use it well, or not, as the case may be, but that money isn’t imaginary. It is all of our money.

An important distinction that might be lost on the likes of you.

Is it also a false argument to say America has a leadership problem since we don’t have real, legitimate leaders? Remember, that fat colored female who praised obama for giving her a free sail fawn while laughing and saying “F-*@ Mitt Romney” that fat bitch probably was a poll watcher and vote counter too. They are the ones responsible for the obama regime’s re-election.

All I am trying to tease out, here, is that your “conventional wisdom”, that you all seem to share, makes literally no sense to the rest of us. And you can’t seem to explain it. Just more anger and name calling. Never anything like an actual persuasive argument.

Do you ever get the feeling that you are shouting into the wilderness? That nobody seems to ‘get it’ when you spout things about ‘Statists’, ‘Socialists’, ‘Liberals’, and the rest?

Have you ever considered – even just in a moment of passing fancy – that it is you who are missing something that the rest of us do in fact understand?

Convince me you aren’t a robot programmed to hate anything you don’t understand, and further programmed not to understand anything.

Dr 9 – I could point out the blindingly obvious – the outcome of the election, the election before that, the total popular vote counts in the Senate and the House – all of which tilted in my favor by literally millions –

    …but those would be ‘facts’.

“The country has a paying for problem.”
“I think it’s a false argument to say that the federal government has a spending problem.”
It isn’t “other people’s money” – it is our money. We can decide to elect people we think will use it well, or not, as the case may be, but that money isn’t imaginary. It is all of our money.

I think that what we mean by the economy and what these collectivists mean by the economy are not the same thing. Like this from our latest troll:

… if you are in favor of eliminating spending on any or all of the above.

There is absolutely no conception of classical liberal society where free people form associations to accomplish things, but only the most primitive conception of society where everything is directed by the State. The thing is, these collectivists seem to view the economy qua the economy as what the State does. The State is the country. So naturally to them the entire problem with the economy is the State doesn’t have enough money.

  • Kevin R.

I meant to wrap that up by saying, to these collectivist it seems the economy is the State. If the State isn’t getting all the money these collectivists think it should then that is the economy being drained of money.

I think what they mean by the economy and what we mean are not the same thing. To them what the State does is the economy.

  • Doug

Kevin, and as an extension of that very thought, we have King Obama.

  • Clingtomyguns

It is very easy to articulate: I am for limited government, freedom of opportunity (and not equality of results), free enterprise, freedom from tyranny (which puts me at odds with every elected Democrat (as far as all are now Obamaphiles)), freedom of association, and a society build around Judeo-Christian based morality and compassion that because of that shared moral compass enjoys protection by the hand of God. Basically, what this country was founded to be – a shining city on a hill, not the wretched third world hell-hole that those who were never proud of her in the first place want to fundamentally change her into.

Rubio hit the nail on the problems with Social Security and Medicaid. If they were ever founded with good intentions, what they have become is grotesque and unsustainable. We need to find the courage to dismantle them: “These programs actually weakened us as a people. You see, almost forever, it was institutions in society that assumed the role of taking care of one another. If someone was sick in your family, you took care of them. If a neighbor met misfortune, you took care of them. You saved for your retirement and your future because you had to. We took these things upon ourselves in our communities, our families, and our homes, and our churches and our synagogues. But all that changed when the government began to assume those responsibilities. All of a sudden, for an increasing number of people in our nation, it was no longer necessary to worry about saving for security because that was the government’s job.”

OK folks, same question I always ask: what would you do?

Cut all education outlays? Cut all Social Security? Cut Medicare? Reduce all tax rates to zero? Issue all newborns a minigun and a Bible?

Yes. The federal government has no role in education. That is a state function.

No. Social security, while a socialist ponzi scheme has lulled old folks into not planning for their own retirement. You have to ween people off their dependency gradually.

No. Same thing with Medicare. Another socialist program that has to be wound down rather than stopped cold turkey.

Reduce all tax rates to zero? No…I rather like having a federal government that can protect me from outside invaders, as well as providing a court system. That doesn’t have to be paid with income tax, however.

As to issuing newborns a minigun and a bible…abortion doctors would think twice about their actions if an unborn soon to be citizen could fight back. But no…newborns can’t read..even the bible.

All thinking people are aware that we have to maintain some level of social structure. Infrastructure expenditures – yay or nay? Investment in early childhood education – yay or nay? Investment in future tech (anything from stem cell research to green energy) – yay or nay?

Infrastructure expenditures, as in the federal government paying for roads and bridges? Again, what is wrong with states picking up the tab for such items?

Early childhood education…that’s essentially free babysitting for working mothers. Again, the founding fathers didn’t delegate the responsibility for early childhood education to the federal government. You’ve read the constitution, haven’t you?

Green technology? If George Bush had rewarded his campaign donors with taxpayer money the same way as President YDBT, no one could sleep at night because of the incessant howl coming from liberals. (And they would be right).

Inventors and entrepreneurs are the solution. People who can make a buck by providing a desirable good or service. Apple didn’t invent the IPod touch or the IPhone because they received a government grant. Microsoft didn’t invent Windows because of government support.

Liberals always believe that more government is the solution to all problems. They completely ignore history. Edison invented the light bulb because he wanted to make money. Rockefeller supplied kerosene across the nation, making it possible for every to light their homes at night because he wanted to make a buck.
