Just ask the ultra-liberal Washington Post’s associate editor, liberal Bob Woodward, renowned co-author of All the President’s Men who was contacted by one of President Obama’s men soon after he told MSNBC’s Morning Joe Scarborough on Wednesday that he believed Obama was exhibiting a “kind of madness I haven’t seen in a long time.”
Woodward was referring specifically to Obama’s Defense Department’s irrational sequester-inspired decision not to deploy the aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman to the most volatile region on Earth, the Persian Gulf, allegedly because of budget constraints. Those constraints could be constrained simply by reducing the paychecks of overpaid, federal government employees by 2% in lieu of making our forces and our nation more vulnerable but Obama chose vulnerability over logic.
Here we have a faithful, committed lib who pointed out a few political truths to Scarborough:
–That Ronald Reagan would never just sit there and say, “Oh, by the way, I can’t do this because of some budget document?”
–That George W. Bush never say, “You know, I’m not going to invade Iraq because I can’t get the aircraft carriers I need?”
–That Bill Clinton would never say, “You know, I’m not going to attack Saddam Hussein’s intelligence headquarters” because of budget limitations.
Later that same day Woodward received what can only be described as an unveiled, emailed threat from the White House. He told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that ”It was said very clearly, you will regret doing this.” Discreetly, Woodward wouldn’t identify the author of the threat (now known to be, according to BuzzFeed.com, Gene Sperling head honcho of Obama’s White House Economic Council). States violate the Constitution, the administration argued, if they offer civil unions to gay couples but deny them the right to marry.
You see, once again, liberals lying. Gays are not denied the right to marry. Any person, gay, straight, male, female, has exactly the same right to choose a spouse of the opposite sex and marry them. When the Alabama county’s lawyer returned for his rebuttal, he managed to utter only five words — “Thank you, Mr. Chief Justice” — before Sotomayor broke in.
At one point, Justice Anthony Kennedy tried to quiet her. “I would like to hear the answer to the question,” he said. The lawyer got out a few more sentences — and then Kagan broke in.
Sotomayor continued to pipe up, even when Solicitor General Donald Verrilli was defending the Voting Rights Act — at one point breaking in as Alito was attempting to speak. Chief Justice John Roberts overruled her. “Justice Alito,” he directed.
The styles of the two Obama appointees are different. Sotomayor is blunt and caustic, repeatedly interrupting. In an opinion this week, she harshly criticized a Texas prosecutor for a racist line of questioning. She has been on the interview circuit publicizing her memoir.
Kagan is choosier about when to interject herself, but she’s sardonic and sharp-witted. (“Well, that’s a big, new power that you are giving us,” she said, mockingly, when a lawyer tried to argue that the justices should overrule Congress’s discrimination findings.)

The sequester is a DEMOCRAT attempt to blame as much as possible on the GOP when they are in fact responsible, because had they been willing to debate and pass a budget, this never would have happened. The GOP controls the house (barely) and has offered several alternatives, the Democrat controlled Senate refuses to consider them.
The tax you pay on a gallon of gas will rise by 3.5 cents in California come July 1.
The state Board of Equalization voted 3-2 on Thursday to increase the excise tax about 10 percent, from 36 cents per gallon to 39.5 cents per gallon.
The increase is partly due to a $157 million shortfall in gas-tax revenue in fiscal 2012, and also a projection of less consumption by California drivers.
This is going to disproportionally affect middle and lower income groups already struggling to get by thanks to other moonbat initiatives in CA.
I assume you all know this already, but the “cuts” due to the sequester are simply reductions in the automatic increases – in fact spending will still GO UP, just by a smaller amount than it would have if not for the sequester. There are no “cuts” coming, just a reduction in preplanned increases.
“I know that this has been some of the conventional wisdom that’s been floating around Washington that even though most people agree that I’m being reasonable, that most people agree that I’m presenting a fair deal, the fact that they don’t take it means that I should somehow do a Jedi mind-meld and convince them” to agree on a deal, Obama said.
Lawmakers and Obama appeared to make no progress toward a resolution during the meeting.
Boehner told reporters the House has already voted twice on measure to replace the sequester, and “shouldn’t have to pass a third bill.”
He also reiterated his position that Republicans will accept no new tax hikes to replace the sequester, something demanded by Obama and Democrats.
“The discussion about revenue is over,” Boehner said.
Inside the meeting, Boehner delivered a message personally to Obama and the other congressional leaders that he has given repeatedly to reporters and privately to the House Republican conference in recent days. The Speaker urged Obama and Senate Democrats to present a plan to replace the sequester that could pass the Democratic-led Senate, according to a summary of the meeting provided by Boehner’s office. And in a sign the Speaker has little interest in trekking back-and-forth to the White House for high-level private negotiations, he “suggested the most productive way to resolve the sequester issue will be through regular order,” Boehner’s office said.
