Anyone hear anything about next year no one can do their own taxes? Accountant just told that he is already starting to have anxiety attacks over next year being crazy because he is going to be swamped with the new regulation that individuals can no longer do their own taxes but the government will do them and businesses must have approved professional do theirs…… What the heck is he talking about? Any accountants out here in lalaland that has any idea?

The IRS wanted to license all tax preparers.
I believe this was a big wet kiss to corporate tax preparers/accountant lobby, and eventually an attempt to basically deputize these licensed preparers.
It was recently shot down in court.
