ArcoSanti: Moonbat City

Liberals impatient with the pace of Hopey Changey America’s fundamental transformation can head for AcroSanti, the “sustainable” slum screwball architect Paolo Soleri built in the Arizona desert:

Cringe-inducing left-wing wackiness combined with Third World living conditions — that’s what lies ahead of us if moonbats keep steering the course. Note that job opportunities consist of either manual drudgery or administrative work. Given the state of public education, it’s fortunate that in the future only bureaucrats will need to be able to read.

On a tip from Marci.

Respect. Well respect is earned, and moonbats living in the desert don’t earn shit. I’m going to go burn some fossil fuel to go to a corporate giant shopping center and buy something I don’t need to try and cleanse my soul of Arcoshitty thoughts. Consume!

  2. BoJangles says:

    “Colorado lowers tuitions for illegals…”

“Army suspends tuition assistance for our troops…”

HUH? You know this country is doomed when we start treating illegals better than we treat our own warriors.

  3. Sweep the leg says:

“You don’t need so much stuff”

Lol. Nope. You don’t need that red dye in your hair, either…

  4. keyplate says:

I saw a TV antennae so they can still
receive Public Tele…in recognition of their bell making skills I designate them : Ding-Moonbats

  7. Patti says:

You know, I’m no moonbat lover but I don’t think these people are bothering anyone. They aren’t trying to force anyone to live like they are, they are happy with what they choose to do. We want to be left alone with our gardens and living choices so I say, let them.

  8. IslandLifer says:

Patti, I’m cool with that so long as they aren’t collecting a tax payers check at some PO box monthly. Oh and just one more ? Where do they go when they get sick and who pays for it? Don’t remember the health clinic being mentioned.

  9. GoinSane says:

These people are slugs. After 25 years and millions bilked from “investors”, they are still only 3% complete. All the while they are still on the power grid, have huge construction cranes and other machine tools, and high-tech and poisonous solar panels. Yeah, it really sounds like they are self sufficient. If they weren’t exactly like government, they would be in prison.

Administration and Labor – just another name for Master and Slave.

  10. Utopia is Banished says:

Be able to read? They couldn’t poor piss out of a boot if there were instructions on the heel.

  11. Buffalobob says:

I lived in AZ since 78. Visited this site in the mid 80s. it’s a hippie commune. Do they suck off the system/man? Most likely. Where do they get the bronze? Oh and if you think these people are out there check out the history of the Biosphere just north of Tucson AZ.

  12. Utopia is Banished says:

@Patti Yes that is a noble intention but under moonbat rule no one is going to be left alone anymore.

  13. Jay B. says:

I’ll believe in a “self sufficient” village when I’ll see one that doesn’t require taxpayer funding.

  14. TED says:

SIMPLE pleasures for SIMPLE minds. What rhe place needs is more padding on the walls.

  15. bHusseinO says:

Come on folks, this is how you should be living! We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times!

  16. Ed Wallis says:

For those unfamiliar with Soleri’s drawings, look for them. As an architect who studied way back, I always found his drawings to be beautiful. Then someone remarked, “Think what kind of government would be required to run a place like that.” ‘NUFF SAID.

  17. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

It looks to me like a day care center for red diaper babies in transition between the degree in basket weaving, and their first disability check.

  18. Flu-Bird says:

any california coastal communities are going moonbattery crazy like ARCATA where on EARTHDAY a few years ago one city council wacko came dressed as a fish and riding a bike proving their totaly STUPID and SAN FRANSTINKHOLE and LOST ANGLEWORMS have been trying to make themselves into sancuary cities for illegal aliens have have come under lawsuits from JUDICIAL WATCH

  19. Jay B. says:

    Ghost of FA Hayek says:

    Good one!!

  20. Skyfall says:

Well, I’ll tell you…that grounds crew, you gotta hand it to them. That is some stunning-looking landscaping they’ve got going!

Seriously, this is what happens when you smoke weed and have no grown-ups to tell you what to do. My GOD, what an embarrassing mess. They’re brainwashed, too. “I don’t make much money, but that’s good because then I don’t deprive someone else in Guatemala or Darfur from having some and…”

These water-heads actually think that by being unproductive and making no money, there is “more” for someone else.

Oh well, as long as they stay out there, get off the power grid and don’t take gov’t assistance, more power to ‘em. (Sustainable GREEN power, of course!)

  21. Woodsman607 says:

Sort of a collectivist Galt’s Gulch. With administrators of course.

  22. Skyfall says:

LOL, Woodsman. You notice how the ONLY thing that looked half-way like a civilized person lived there was the administrative office?

Leftists are really good at do-nothing jobs whose only function is to tell others what to do.

The most asinine Nanny State atrocity that has ever been inflicted on sovereign individuals, it’s all the proof you need that a full-time legislature is a menace to your sanity, and a dire threat to your liberty…

Looks like A Junk Yard in the Desert! Was the guy with the RED hair Ever in a Movie Theater?

  25. Flu-Bird says:

Any community of campus that bans military recruiters deserve to be boycotted totaly boycotted and that also gose for places that name themselves sancuaries for illegal aliens

  26. whotothewhat says:

    Who! run Barter Town?

I guess their is no need for a sanitation dept?

  27. Momster says:

Once a moonbat decides that something like this welfare village with cacti is the way to go you can look forward to them trying to shove it down everyone’s throat.

That is how the left would like to see us live. Living in the desert, hand to mouth, herding goats, selling our homemade crafts on roadside stands. Subsistence level living.

And then the libs/progs/commies get so shocked when the push-back comes. WE are being so unreasonable! After all they are only doing this for our own good–because we don’t know any better. They are here to show us the right way to live.

  28. BSCENSOR says:

A great place to live if you want to party every night, do drugs, not take a bath, get hit on by wannabe hippies, and pretend like you are better than the rest of the world. The people living there have no respect for the place. There are cars (some of them running), satellite dishes, air conditioners, trash dumps, lots of erosion, a pond full of poop, leaky walls and windows, and a ridiculous two lane dirt road through the desert to get there. They also hardly make any of their own food or power even though they act like it is sustainable. It’s sad because it had so much potential when it started. I guess Soleri left the place years ago when he realized he had surrounded himself with bums and party animals that he had no control over. I have been to concerts there and there are some nice people there, but the other ones ruin it for everybody.
