Henry Waxman Strikes Again

Just as rats will always find something to gnaw on, traitors will always find a way to betray their country. For example, readers will recall that Rep Henry Waxman (D-CA) helped Code Pink provide the insurgents fighting US troops in Fallujah with $600,000 in cash and supplies. Now that Obama has abandoned Iraq to Iranian domination after all the blood and treasure expended, Waxman has found a still more damaging way to knife his country in the back:

Representative Henry A. Waxman, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Representative Earl Blumenauer, and Senator Brian Schatz released draft carbon-pricing legislation and solicited feedback on it from stakeholders and the public. The legislation would establish the polluter pays principle for dangerous carbon pollution, requiring large emitters to pay for the pollution they emit.

The effect on an economy already staggering under the burden of Big Government would be catastrophic — by design. After all, liberal ideology dictates that economic activity is harmful to the sacred polar bears. More importantly, economic activity creates jobs, freeing Democrat voters from government dependency.

Waxman confirms that the legislation represents a massive smash and grab, and that it is justified in the name of the debunked global warming hoax:

“Putting a price on carbon could help solve two of the nation’s biggest challenges at once: preventing climate change and reducing the budget deficit,” said Rep. Waxman.

Note that even Waxman concedes global warming is not real by rebranding the hoax as “climate change.” The climate has always changed and always will, so stubborn facts won’t necessitate another name change.

There is more at work here that greed for money:

The nation’s largest polluters would have to pay a fee for each ton of pollution they release. The legislation assigns responsibility for the assessment and collection of the carbon fees based upon the expertise that has already been developed by EPA and the Treasury Department. Under the discussion draft, EPA’s database of reported emissions would determine the amount of pollution subject to the fee.

Already the EPA is powerful enough to prevent you from using your own land on a whim by deciding a puddle in your driveway constitutes “wetlands.” The objective of Waxman et al. is to establish a command and control centralized economy run by the demented and tyrannical ideologues of this malignant rogue agency.

A Soviet invasion would not have been more economically crippling.

Now, make sure you have your double-barrel shotgun. Uncle Joe says that’s all you need.

There is something very crucial you people always seem to forget: just because you do not understand something does not mean that nobody can understand it.

I know that using things like pointing out your plot holes is futile, but since you are apparently all-knowing, i’ll posit this for the room:

What will the effect be on the Gulf Stream if the temperature rises 1 degree? What would be the effect of a shift in that current away from the it’s current path?

(Hint: these are very important questions that if you are not prepared to answer, you are also not allowed to have an opinion about the veracity of global climate change.)

I can do this all day, and in fact point to blindingly irrefutably obvious evidence of the catastrophic potential for atmospheric CO2… but it involves perhaps too much underlying knowledge for the likes of this crowd, so we will eave that for another time.

With your head down in the pig bin,
    Saying “Keep on digging.”
Pig stain on your fat chin.
What do you hope to find.
When you’re down in the pig mine.
    You’re nearly a laugh,

    But you’re really a cry.

Let me know when Greenland is as warm as it was 1,000 years ago when the Vikings had ranches on the southern end of the island. Eveyone with their head screwed on straight knows its all about the SUN – you know – that giant nuclear fusion reactor in the sky.

Want to cut CO2 emissions, use several high altitude nukes over the East Asia – focusing on China and CO2 levels will fall. Chinese cities are worse than US ciities in the early 1940s when people went to work with white shirts and came home with black ones.

Ouch. You are exactly what I’m talking about. Thermohaline circulation is so far above your head it isn’t really worth talking to you… but that is the point.

You clearly don’t know what you are talking about – I assume you are just as ignorant of the Maunder Minimum as you are of thermohaline circulation – but the fact that you are not educated in these areas, yet still feel as if you can have a reasonable right to angry opinions, is some scary shit.

Learn stuff. Don’t knee-jerk to the Koch brother’s nonsense. Think about the potential for ill effects, and further think about how you might want to be a part of the solution rather than denying the existence of the problem.

  14. Doug says:

There is a problem and it’s the one you and you’re fellow Marxist sheep dreamed up and now your on the search for evidence to back it up. Problem is, all your evidence is cooked up by computer models.

And for the record, Peter, there is a chance that I can do some good pointing out the obviously incorrect things posted here as if they were factual. Always know thine enemy, as it were.

There is a wealth of data out there regarding myriad topics related to global weather patterns. If you have not taken the time to read any of it, or understand how conclusions are drawn, based on what observable data… the problem is not the facts – not the ice cores, the palynology, not the isotope analysis – not the models, not the math, but you.

Are you so blinded by your hatred of ‘the left’ that you are unaware that you are not smart enough to have a valid opinion if you know nothing about the topic at hand?

“I can do this all day…”

Apparently you can RANT HYSTERICLY and NOT PROVIDE ANY EVIDENCE all day.

    “for real? says:March 13, 2013 at 12:56 pm”

You the same guy? You are not provideing any SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE.

By the way, is it “GLOBAL WARMING” or “CLIMATE CHANGE”? Is it getting hotter or colder? You FEAR MONGERS have claimed both in the same week, sometimes on the same day.

  23. for real? says:

    KH –

It is ‘change’. There are some instances of cooling (eg, if the Gulf Stream were to alter its circulatory path, then London would suddenly be colder than Maine), localized instances of warming (eg, the current decline in Greenland’s glacier cover) and global instances of more intense fluctuations in weather patterns at large.

These changes are related to many factors, and their interplay is still not understood fully. But pretending that somehow atmospheric CO2 is not a factor is both stupid, and counterindicated by the simplest of observable evidence.

Want a good example? The Venusian atmosphere. At some saturation level, CO2 became self-sustaining and the next planet over suffered a runaway greenhouse effect. You can see it with your very own eyes, and read all about it in any reputable astrophysical journal. And on the surface of Venus, the temperature is 900 degrees – hot enough to melt lead. (That seem like something we should try to understand and even prevent? Just maybe it would be of value to learn how and why that point was reached?)

And before you say ‘but there are no huuuumans on Venus’ (I can already hear your spurious arguments – sheeple!) remember that this is not saying that humans alone are the cause – the important thing to learn here is that there is some level of CO2, which we are currently completely unaware of, that results in actual doom for all of humanity. Any number greater than zero might be the straw that breaks the camels back – and we don’t know where that point might be.

So… should we pretend that is not real? Should we pretend that thinking about the consequences is silly? Or… just maybe… should you stop forming loud opinions about things you are completely ignorant about, and let scientists do their jobs?

Yet you idiots speak with god-like authority.

“Want a good example? The Venusian atmosphere.”

Venus is 95% CO2. That planet is also a LOT closer to the sun than the Earth.

Try the SCIENTIFIC METHOD next time, instead of listening to someone who is selling “carbon credits” for millions of dollars.

By the way, I think we’ve already passed the “point of no return” that such “climate scientists as Al Gore and Prince Charles have predicted, so who cares?

Kind of a waste of time, especially since CO2 doesn’t really qualify as a greenhouse gas. Tell ya what, I seem to recall the atmosphere on Mars is largely CO2, so why’s it so cold there? Venus has other stuff going on; CO2′s not it.

Given that anthropomorpic climate change due to CO2 levels is a major problem (which I question, not deny)the real questions are 1. how bad is it? and 2. what to do?
    1. I have read estimates that range from disasterous toactually benificial so I honestly can’t have an intelligent opinion. For the sake of arguement let’s say very bad (again I question) which brings us to…
    2. Since the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China PRC) countires are vastly increasing their carbon emissions to an extent far greater than we can reduce ours and have shown no indication of reducing their emissions I believe that our best course of action would be to determine what the most likely effects of climate change will be and make sure that we have the economic, manufacturing, and technological resources to survive that change and its effects. If you are truly concerned about anthropomorpic climate change one thing that might help would be an amendmant of the endangered species act to exempt hydroelectric power plants from its effects.
    @for real?
0% CO2 in the atmosphere no plant life. No plant life no animal life. The amount of CO2 has changed over time in the past. In historic times in Europe (that provides the most easily found data) when the climate was warmer population and life expectancy increased. When it was cooler population and life expectancy decreased. You might wish to think about the possible ramification of your suggestions.
