Vets Get Stiffed, but Not Pakistan
As noted previously, the military is pulling back on tuition assistance to vets as part of the farcical sequester spectacle. Yet there is still plenty of money for Obama to shower upon our Islamofascist enemies. Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) is enraged:
“Why are we funding education programs for our Benedict Arnold ally when we can’t fund — or don’t fund — the education for our military? And to Pakistan of all places, where hatred for America is at its highest.”
Even as Dr. Shakil Afridi rots in a Pakistani prison after helping us find Bin Laden in their country (where he had been “hiding” in plain sight with the nearly certain knowledge of the government),
Poe … said the Marines spent roughly $47 million from the program last year — comparing that to the $12.7 million spent on higher education in Pakistan.
“And that’s not all,” Poe said. “Since the sequester, the administration has approved $37 million in foreign aid to Pakistan.”
The figure on higher education aid represents just a fraction of the $47.2 million the U.S. spent on education and social services aid to Pakistan in fiscal 2012. The U.S. spent a total of $370 million on all forms of nondefense aid to Pakistan that year — which also represents just a fraction of the total amount obligated.
The aid outrage is similar to that felt regarding $250 million in aid recently announced for Egypt.
That would be the country where Obama pulled the rug out from under our ally to pave the path to power for the sort of gents seen here paying a call at our embassy:
Spending is always about priorities. Obama did warn us well in advance that when push came to shove he would “stand with the Muslims.” That’s one reason liberals voted for him.

As Obama says, his dear Muslim terrorist supporting and harboring friends in PAAK-EEE-STAAAN just deserve better than our American military members, so much so that Shrillary and Obama took executive action to skirt the law and required reporting to Congress to keep the taxpayers money flowing to Pakistan military aid so it can be turned around and used against us to support terrorists.
On Sept. 13, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton quietly, and without explanation, issued a “national security” waiver on conditions for Pakistan military aid.
While in years past the Obama administration asserted that Pakistan had made progress in combating terrorism, thereby meeting aid conditions set by Congress, that apparently simply wasn’t possible after recent events.
The country has received over $15 billion in US military aid and $8 billion in economic aid in the past decade, with the Bush and Obama administrations arguing that US money is buying a more stable and democratic Pakistan – and one that is committed to ousting terrorists.
That of course, has not been the case. Last year, Pakistan was the third most terrorism-plagued country, after Afghanistan and Iraq.
The “EPPA” Is the Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009, a new approach to Pakistan that was trumpeted by Obama at the time of its passage. The essence of the bill, sometimes referred to as “Kerry-Lugar” after two of its sponsors, is that the US give a lot more aid to civil society groups, without conditions attached, and military aid to Islamabad – contingent on the government fighting terrorism.
Section 203 of the bill reads “for fiscal years 2011 through 2014, no security-related assistance may be provided to Pakistan in a fiscal year until the Secretary of State, under the direction of the president, makes the certification required.”
What required certification? That Pakistan has made “sustained” and “significant” efforts in combating terrorist groups; that it has prevented Al Qaeda and the Taliban from operating on its territory; and that the “security forces of Pakistan are not materially and substantially subverting the political or judicial processes of Pakistan.”
But this year, neither Clinton nor Obama could make such certifications. In essence, the waiver acknowledges that the US is subsidizing a foreign military that in turn provides aid for US enemies. It’s an uncomfortable truth that few in Washington seem to want to discuss.
But as Hillary says, “what difference does it make?”

$47 Million is a mere 0.47% of the $10 Billion that Hussein Obama spent on vacations during his last term.
So if Hussein gave up less than 1% of his vacation money, the Marines’ tuition would be fully funded.
Someone needs to round up a bunch of Iraq/Middle East war vets, put them into uniform, and then hold a press conference with the Marines in the background and angrily point out that Hussein is screwing the military all while taking expensive vacations, and demand that he fork over some of that cash.
