NASCAR + NRA
Authoritarian gun-grabbers have their knickers in a twist because the NRA is sponsoring a NASCAR race in Texas. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) has been leaning on Brian France of the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing to disallow the sponsorship. Barks the moonbat:
“By giving the NRA sponsorship of a major NASCAR race, NASCAR has crossed a line — you have decided to put yourself in the middle of a political debate, and you have taken a side that stands in opposition to the wishes of so many Newtown families who support common sense gun reform. Whether or not this was your intention, your fans will infer from this sponsorship that NASCAR and the NRA are allies in the current legislative debate over gun violence. By announcing this new partnership at the very height of Congress’s deliberations over gun reform, NASCAR has inserted itself into a political debate that has nothing to with the business of NASCAR.”
To translate out of B.S.-ese, this thug is actually chastising NASCAR for allowing the impression to be created that it supports the US Constitution.
Even Murphy acknowledges that NASCAR has been conspicuously generous in supporting Sandy Hook families.
Unless statist goons are able to stop it, the NRA will be the title sponsor of the Spring Cup Series race on April 13 in Forth Worth, now officially known as the NRA 500.
The NRA + NASCAR. What could be more American, in the best sense of the word? Those in the Dallas area are encouraged not to miss it.
On a tip from Lyle.

I’m sorry, but can someone PLEASE explain to me what involvement the NRA had or has in the Newtown shootings?
@ StanInTexas: It doesn’t matter to the Looney Left. Their mentality is: Guns are bad, unless they belong to us, our bodyguards, or the police. Who cares what the 2nd Amendment says?
On a related note, it is getting hard to find .22 long rifle ammo. Is this a nation-wide stockpiling frenzy, because of the gun-grabbers?
Interesting, he has a state to contend with, I don’t know how he has time to be bothered with this… Must be the sequester has taken money from him and he has some time free.. It seems he is crossing the line on state’s rights. Has every damnacrap in CT gone mad? The government lost the round (funny term) on assault rifles that were never used at Sandy Hook! But I have seen the two items in one paragraph on several liberal sites.. Sandy Hook and AK-15! They don’t care if their facts are wrong, heck they don’t even care if their boss Zero Obozo is wrong… What difference does it make if it is YOUR rights they are playing with?
“By giving the NRA sponsorship of a major NASCAR race, NASCAR has crossed a line
______
Ironic, isn’t it that that “line” NASCAR apparently crossed has been drawn by Democrapts including Murphy ?
Since when has it become appropriate for a representative of government to dictate the terms of a constitutional right to freedom of association, and over the trampling of another constitutional right THEY made political ?
Is anyone else sick of the attitude of these arrogant liberal fags? He talks down to NASCAR like they are mentally disabled, as if any person with common sense supports a gun grab. It’s like if anyone does something non moonbat approved there’s suddenly these sneering, sniveling jerks telling them how to do things, along with threats and insults. I am so damn sick of these people.
What price will the American people have to pay for their weakness, gullibility, and refusal to deal with reality?

The intersection of commerce and the constitution, two of moonbats’ least favorite things.
“Gun violence”.
“Gun violence”.
“Gun violence”.
I guess if they say those two words together often and loudly enough, we’re supposed to believe they’re reality.
Senator Murphy needs to be told to GO TO HELL with the rest of his demacRAT party
Murphy is a garden variety prog politician. Like many Democraps, while being a busybody telling others what they should and shouldn’t do, and trashing the consitution, as well as frivilously spending taxpayer money, he can’t seem to pay his taxes or own obligations, unless he gets a little kickback from “friends” he can help out:
“Murphy has been sued for nonpayment of his mortgage and non-payment of rent, and has also failed to pay taxes when due on several occasions.[53] In 2007, Chase Home Finance sued for foreclosure against Murphy, whose campaign initially responded by claiming that Murphy had missed “a couple of mortgage payments.” Murphy claimed that he did not know he was in default until legal proceedings started. Murphy received a loan at the rate of 4.99% from Webster Bank in 2008 to consolidate his previous mortgages after being sued for foreclosure.[53] At the time of this loan, Murphy was serving on the House Financial Services Committee. In 2008, Webster Bank’s political action committee made numerous donations to Murphy’s campaign and in 2005 and 2006, Murphy worked for Webster as an attorney. In 2008, Murphy voted for the Troubled Asset Relief Program which Webster received $400 million in 2009. Murphy’s 2012 Republican opponent Linda McMahon accused him of receiving what she called “special interest loans,” and called on Murphy to release his financial records. Bank officials and outside experts claim there was nothing improper about the loans made to Murphy.

Besides, whoever doesn’t think cool guns and cars, and even more when we can have the two together, is cool, is a just a busybody putz:

I find this interesting not because of the ‘they are coming for our guns’ bullshit that you all feed on, but because NASCAR has been making an effort of late to get people who are not toothless hicks involved and interested.
Throwing in with the lunatic fringe is just a bad marketing play. Obviously you people hereabouts are already hicks watching NASCAR. You own dozens of guns. None of this represents a new market.
But trying to grow your brand beyond the hillfolk subset is clearly not happening if you take sides in a cultural disagreement as profound as gun control.
Oh well. Guess I will have to continue not watching people turn endlessly left for hours at a time. I think I’ll survive.
This Murphy is such an idiot…when he was running for election I did email him on his position on fire arms….no surprise I did not get a response….and when I see this moron telling NASCAR what to do it only further my feelings of what an incompetent baffoon he his….pair him up with bloomingidiot. Our other senator from connecticutt….and the ass kissing Malloy our governor …all the gun companies will be running out of this state taking there 1.5 billion in revenue with them…a bunch of jack wagons
as always says:
That’s so cute.
Ass Always…
And exactly what ‘lunatic fringe’ are you talking about?
A post that includes both the NRA and NASCAR? That’s like curry to a pisshead, trolls just can’t help themselves. Well-played, Dave!
The ‘lunatic fringe’ in this case would be those people who are concerned entirely with guns, to the point that you believe insane conspiracy theories. there is a thread not too far down, full of people who are readying themselves to fend off the government hordes as they invade Montana, or whatever.
You know they are real. They are everywhere on this little website. You can’t deny their existence, and you know intellectually that they are tinfoil-hat-crazy people.
And more to the point, they already drink Bud, watch NASCAR, and own guns. They are not a growth market. And the potential cross-cultural marketing of NASCAR just went the way of the dodo. Failboat. Oh well. Still over it. Just an interesting choice for them to make. Deliberately alienating the growth sector in favor of playing to an already-extant base. (Remind you of any political parties? Interesting parallel, that…)
Faux news!
Ass Always, the only people here ‘concerned entirely with guns’ are loser like you who criticize private organizations.
And it is not conspiracy theories to point out the deliberate attacks on our rights. If you were not such a POS, or it was YOUR rights being trampled, you would be able to see that!
I am simply pointing out that NASCAR is stupid for alienating the non-insane people who represent the potential growth market. A perfectly reasonable claim. They already have the flyover-country-people subset buttoned up. No room for growth there.
Lemme guess… you don’t get it. Color me shocked.
Given the actions by Gov. Coumo, Sen. Feinstein, and other Leftist gun-grabbers, the threats of massive gun confiscation are based in reality, not mere conspiracy theories.
As to NASCAR, supporting the Constitutional rights of Americans is patriotic, and is good for the sport. Succumbing to the demands of the fascist Left is not.
Stupid? ‘non-insane’?
Oh, I get it, you are a closed-minded bigot who cannot understand how anyone should be allowed to have an opinion that differs from your own.
You do not watch NASCAR and you are afraid of guns, so why don’t you just stop offing your moronic opinion on topics where you are clearly ignorant.
Ass Always:
“NASCAR has been making an effort of late to get people who are not toothless hicks involved and interested.”
Son, you’re missing the point, NASCAR is making this vain effort not because it wants or needs these folks, but because of its sad choice to embrace the corporate PC crapola has backfired and it now finds itself scrambling and losing its base popularity. Like many corporations do, NASCAR shot itself in the foot when it decided that it would go along with the PC crowd and swoon itself all over diversity BS. That is when its popularity started to decline.
But since taking over as NASCAR CEO in the early 2000s, Brian France has apparently decided that diversity is a much more important goal than keeping the long-time fans of the sport happy.
And of course it’s not working in commercial terms. NASCAR’s push for diversity went in overdrive right around the time its popularity peaked. [NASCAR’s diversity push is widespread, By Nate Ryan, USA TODAY, October 4, 2006]
With a little help from its MainStream Media friends, the NAACP began to demand that the Confederate Battle Flag be banned from NASCAR events.
Entering the 2012 season, it has materialized that NASCAR has actually banned the “General Lee” of Dukes of Hazzard fame from being allowed to do a few laps at a race in Phoenix because of its display of the Battle Flag.
Former Georgia Congressman Ben Jones, who starred in the original Dukes of Hazzard television show, quickly attacked NASCAR for its cowardice.
As a symbol of opposition to the soft totalitarianism that is political correctness and the official federal and state policy of coerced diversity, the Confederate flag represents something tangible in 2012—above all to white Southerners. That’s why even the sight of it on the top of the “General Lee” at a NASCAR event must be banned, even if it insults NASCAR’s most devoted fans.
http://www.vdare.com/articles/thought-for-the-daytona-500-will-diversity-kill-nascar
“But,” as Dr. Ben Carson said,” pc is dangerous. Because, you see, this country one of the founding principles was freedom of thought and freedom of expression. and it muffles people. It puts a muzzle on them. And at the same time, keeps people from discussing important issues while the fabric of this society is being changed. And we cannot fall for that trick. And what we need to do is start talking about things, talking about things that are important.”
We certainly can’t have any of that, else we’d have to start talking about why all of these black folks are in jail, on welfare, and why more than half don’t know who their daddy is, or why we want to ignore why Muslim terrorists want to kill us, or why our white population is being displaced by third world peasant colonists who are being courted to come on in and get on welfare by our government, or why illegal aliens are filing tax returns and getting earned income credits for not working.
And that is why the WH was worried about what an articulate conservative black like Carson would say – can’t have an Uncle Tom like Carson leaving the liberal reservation.

“Oh well. Guess I will have to continue not watching people turn endlessly left for hours at a time.”
Yes, it must be extremely difficult for liberals to focus on anything other than sitting around bitching about Walmart.
“NASCAR is making this vain effort not because it wants or needs these folks, but because of its sad choice to embrace the corporate PC crapola has backfired and it now finds itself scrambling and losing its base popularity.”
… and so they now run the other way, and give up on ever having any cross-cultural appeal? The very idea of cross-cultural selling has actually reduced the fan base among the hicks? Really? As if somehow the people who are entertained by loud noises and shiny things are going to take their entertainment dollars elsewhere? I see. They deliberately threw away the entire 70+% of the market that is not made up of flyover country, and call that a strategy. Apparently.
Still contend that they made an interesting choice, there…
Meh. There are plenty of hicks to keep NASCAR alive, but they have demonstrated that there is a hard ceiling that they will never surpass.
Sell your stock. Only downhill from here.
Ass Always,
NASCAR made a decision to side with the Constitution and patriots to this nation. The facts that treasonous idiots like you are losing your mind over the decision means they were right.
@aas
Referring back to your “they are coming for our guns” comment:
Just out of curiosity, what do you think the proposed gun bans of Feinstein and Biden et al will accomplish?
The left is not going to be happy until they see little pink (abortion rights) ribbons and rainbow flags all over NASCAR.
Jodie, that is not their end-game. NASCAR is simply the latest item that the Left is trying to destroy. They know they cannot compete and that they are a fringe and insignificant minority. So they try to destroy anything they hate.
Unfortunately, we let the get away with it in the name of tolerance and diversity. But it is not too late to stand up and fight back.
Buy ammo!

You are so right! It’s not their end-game!
Just like, they are now trying to turn football into futbol (aka soccer). When they get their way on that, they still won’t be happy and will want to destroy that too.
Yes, liberals are asses – always. Silly little communist prick.
ASSALWAYS – “They deliberately threw away the entire 70+% of the market that is not made up of flyover country, and call that a strategy.”
You really are quite dense. They didn’t deliberatly throw away a market, they alienated their market through embracing PC BS, which most Americans are tired of having rammed down their throats, instead of letting natural market forces and ordinary people make uncoerced choices. That’s the central fallacy and philosophical bankruptcy of liberalism embraced by folks like you and Queen Bloomberg – that different groups shouldn’t be making their own choices, something we used to call liberty and freedom.
In 2004, France instituted the Drive for Diversity program, which had the stated goal of increasing minority and women in NASCAR (whether it be in ownership, a driver, or a crew member).
What’s your point, that minorities can’t enjoy race car driving without special set asides and are glad that companies pander to them, rather than treat them like grown ups that can make their own choices?
Contrast that to the PGA. Tiger Woods was a market force that opened the market up to minorities who would otherwise have never been interested. Whites enjoyed watching his skills and meteoric rise too. No special set asides needed for this, just a guy who worked hard in golf and happened to become successful (sans his stupidity in throwing away his fame with his sick personal life).
So, they expect NASCAR to walk away from the NRA and it’s Millions of members, and instead stand with the leftists that truly hate NASCAR? The left has always viewed NASCAR and their fans as toothless, beer-guzzling, gun-loving rednecks. Is anyone dumb enough to think that’s changed?
What a load. Why was no one concerned last year when the NRA sponsored a NASCAR Nationwide series race, The NRA American Warrior 300? Why nothing about the NRA sponsoring the same race again this year? Why nothing about the NRA’s long involvement with racing in general? No, it’s only an issue NOW because it is a high profile sport and event that can be used to further an agenda. I, for one, will be sure to watch this race and may even buy a ticket even though I can’t actually go.
As much as we sympathize with the parents of murdered children in Connecticut,no state has a right to demand anything of an event in another state.Apparently,Chris Murphy isn’t terribly bright or he’d already know that.Apparently,he also doesn’t know who predominate among NASCAR fans,as much as the corporate politically correct types who’ve hijacked NASCAR would like to forget.NASCAR fans are typically also NRA fans, and tend to be a brighter, more self-reliant group than some loony, grandstanding political hack in Connecticut.Gun control targets the victim.
And that Connecticut asshole should mind his own business in his own state – Cruz and Perry may kick his ass. (LOL! Wouldn’t you love to see that!)

Reading as always comments, it’s clear that he’s an idiot. Turning left (and right on road courses – but he knew that) to describe NASCAR is an idiot’s way of describing something he knows nothing about. Let’s consider some of the factors, scientifically speaking, when “turning left.”
Air Temperature, humidity, precipitation, altitude, track type, track temperature, wedge, air pressure, tire wear, camber, lift, breaking, horsepower, torque, speed, throttle control, momentum, lines, grooves, “evil stuff,” stability, traffic, drafting, bumping, rubbing, aero-dynamics, damage, cooling, communications, g-forces, safety, vision, stamina… etc.
These are just some of the things for “toothless hicks” to consider when “turning left.” As always, you’re an idiot, I’m sure.
