Is Liberty Outdated?

The establishment media would have you believe that bitter clingers to the Constitution are tired old dinosaurs who won’t admit that the world has moved on without them. Brandon Smith isn’t buying it:

This argument is based on a series of lies, the first one being that American culture needs to “progress with the times” and shake off the dead skin of old and “unpopular” principles. Let’s set the record straight…

Some principles, like the liberties embodied in natural law and outlined in the U.S. Constitution, NEVER become outdated. They exist in the heart of mankind, and will remain as long as humanity remains. They cannot be erased, and they cannot be undone. They are inherent and eternal.

They can, however, be oppressed by those who seek to dominate the lives of others. This is what the establishment today calls “progress”. Their version of social order is not new, nor is it even clever. It is archaic, and has taken many forms, including oligarchy, aristocracy, mercantilism, monarchy, totalitarianism, despotism, fascism, socialism, communism, globalism, etc., etc. The goal is always the same; centralize as much power as possible into as few hands as possible while making the enslaved population as collectivized and dependent as possible.

The Liberty Movement is not some dying vestige of America’s past clinging to an antiquated philosophy. We are the new wave; the messengers of an ideal of freedom that in the grand scheme of history has been around for only a blink of an eye. Constitutional liberty IS the progress that humanity has been waiting for. We have only been led astray by those who would sell us on our own bondage.

Reading the whole piece may make you a prepper; it will certainly clarify why the governmedia is so keen on disarming us even as the DHS builds up massive stockpiles of ammunition. Catch it at either Alt-Market or Zero Hedge.

Hahahaha cute. That guy in insane.

What do you see as the ideal implementation of that fictional little utopia you imagine? Every man for himself, no government, no social programs of any sort… as we slowly devolve back into wild animals?

We The People do not agree with you. Your oddly hopeful pining for some ‘revolution’ makes you seem crazy. We like social security, we like medicare, we like the idea that people should not starve in the streets in history’s wealthiest country. We quite rightly point out that the math works fine if we just make the very wealthiest people pay the rate the rest of us pay. Nothing more.

You disagree, and want some Randian society where everyone is basically on their own at all times. Fine. We disagree.

Then comes the interesting bit – that equates, in your minds, with some imagined moment when the government will be forced to shoot you down like dogs as you take up arms to defend your ‘freedom’ from the rest of us. Or something. Yeah… seems reasonable to me.

…And Black Helicopers! Drones! Geroge Soros! The Bilderburg Group! The UN!

Tell you what. I’ll make sure I keep dropping by this nest-o-crazy. I’ll remind you over time of how stupid you look at this moment, predicting the end of the world with the same apparent belief that greeted “Mitt will win in a landslide” or “Friends of Hamas” or any of the rest of the dumb shit you people believe.

Notice how often you seem to be… wrong?

    Dear Moron:
Let me make a couple of points:
    1. The progressive income tax where everyone pays a different rate than everyone else is your baby. Own it. If the rich pay more or less, that is because your representatives have decided over time to pick winners and losers.

Sometimes they want to favor investment. Therefore investors pay a lower rate. Sometimes they want to favor home owners. Therefore homeowners pay a lower rate. Sometimes they want to favor married couples over single couples. Therefore married couples pay a lower rate.

That is the utopia that the democrats have been promoting for the past 90 years (like when income tax was first proposed…only the wealthy would pay).

    That is your moronic utopia.

If you want to be fair, how about everyone pays the same tax. Period. See how that plays out with your liberal buddies.

    2. You and your progressive buddies were all worried about George Bush, the Patriot Act, the Department of Homeland Security, and the growth of the Police State. You were all outraged about that. Now your buddy is in power. Where’s the outrage over the reauthorization of the Patriot Act (with no sunset provision). Where’s your concern over the DHS buying 1.6 billion 40 cal hollow point rounds. Ya think that those will be used just against conservatives?

    3. Barack Obama stated he wouldn’t try and take away anyone’s guns. Now he wants to take away assault rifles. Which time was he lying; then or now?

  8. BoJangles says:

One of Satan’s most effective tactics is to con people into thinking that everyone agrees with him, and that if you don’t, you’re all alone in your beliefs. In case you haven’t noticed, it’s the very same tactic used by the Left.

If you create the illusion that your numbers are much greater than they actually are, the weak, gullible, and mindless sheep will follow you.

  9. Kevin R. says:

A thought on what the troll wrote:

Either we live in a socialist society or we are on our own is a false choice and has nothing to do with reality. The actual choice is, do we each have full possession of our own lives or are our lives to be bound by collectivism and the whims of politics and those people that gain political power?

  10. Kevin R. says:

Calvin Coolidge spoke on the same topic as Brandon Smith. Speaking of the progressives of his time, from his 4th of July 1927 speech:

“It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.”

  11. as always says:

If you want to be fair, how about everyone pays the same tax. Period. See how that plays out with your liberal buddies.

That isn’t remotely fair… and you know it. If you take 10% from someone who makes $15k a year, that is the difference between food and shelter, and destitution. If you make $1Billion… a 99% tax rate will still have you literally driving Ferraris between mansions.

You don’t get it. I know. Which is why you would even state something so utterly infantile.

  12. Sam Adams says:

Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge both made the same mistake. They should have fired the progressive Herbert Hoover.

Both men, however, were the last to really embrace the concept of a smaller, less intrusive, less expensive federal government. They cut government spending by 1/3 and paid down half the national debt (mostly from WWI…another progressive war).

Herbert Hoover embraced the idea of government intervention in the economy, promoting deficit spending to get out of a recession. FDR ran against more government spending and creating more government debt, and then proceeded to embrace both concepts with a vengeance.

What was it that the tool up top was saying about conservatives want no government? All we want is a constitutionally limited federal government. Let Massachusetts and New York abuse their citizens as much as they can get away with. I wouldn’t live in either place for love or money.

So what is it that these tyranny admiring poverty pimps from the past are promising humanity in exchange for their individual liberty ?
A right to housing, food, healthcare insurance, cell phones, ect . In other words, a comfortable existence even as a non producer.
Another commonality is that these are all things which require brute force to administer.
Somebody’s freedom must be sacrificed on the alter of liberalism so that these “positive rights” can be delivered.
We currently refer to this as slavery.
It’s no coincidence that the history of the world is fraught with examples of this brute force in action.

It was hairy Reid who blocked the bill to block ILLEGAL ALIENS from collecting BILLIONS in phony child tax credits from the IRS.

The $7.4 BILLION in phony child tax credits sent to Mexico in 2012 alone would surely pay many times over for all the military training the TRAITOR Reid is crying his crocodile tears about.

This is the sort of stuff I learned from the communists I had the displeasure of knowing.

    KNOW THIS, IDIOT REGRESSIVES:
For DECADES, Americans have been talked into “trying a LITTLE socialism”. Each and every time, it FAILED and we were told that MORE socialism would fix the problems IT HAD CREATED. It is now the 21st century and America has BECOME socialist; AND THINGS SUCK WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE.

Where’s that “perfection” you were promased? Is it because there are people who still believe in FREEDOM and INDIVIUALITY? Your “hearos of the revolution” have ALWAYS had an answer for that: MASS MURDER.

Are YOU prepared for that? I should warn you that YOU may be dragged off to die in a “work camp” or just hung from a street lamp for being a “useless eater”.

  22. KHarn says:

“as always says: March 20, 2013 at 1:31 pm”

No answer? Afraid of answering, stupid, or following the communists’ guidelines?

  23. as always says:

Try a little socialism. Like… social security? Which has successfully prevented massive poverty among the elderly. Delivered (and continues to deliver) exactly what it promised. And a good thing for society.

“Democratic socialism” is our current system of government. Some minimum standard that we uphold and adhere to. And it actually seems to be working pretty well.

I have to once again point out… there are no UN soldiers on your lawn. There are no plans to death panel your grandmother. There are no black helicopters. All of that shit is completely made up to drive stupid people into a frenzy (and of course buy lots of guns, survival crap and the rest). Appears to be working pretty well.

    Here’s another poser:
How are you going to stop the MUSLIMS from beating the shit out of you and taking over your commie “paradise” when you fools have made it a HATE CRIME to say a word against their religion and they will CUT YOUR HEAD OFF if you do?

  25. StanInTexas says:

The national debt is an issue, of course, but it is not going to be fixed with raw austerity (how is that going for the EU these days? can you not even see reality when it unfolds in front of you every day?)

So – the fix. Quite simple, really. Get the economy going again. Use stimulus spending. Raise tax rates on cap gains and carried interest to the same rates as regular income. Grow the middle class. And …like magic… the budget looks better. Every year. This is not f-ing rocket science. It works. Has in the past, and will again in the future. This is what us ‘normal people’ call reason.

Nope. No black helicopters. W was a moron, but not inherently evil. Obama is educated, and not inherently evil. You people are stupid, and occasionally inherently evil. Meh.

    SOCIAL SECURITY:

Bankrupt. In debt for billions. Orignaly, it was NOT TO BE TAXED and the funds collected were NOT TO BE USED FOR ANYTHING ELSE. It has been for decades. It has been used to fund all those “social programs”.

My last SS statement said that I had over $90,000 in it. I wish that I had that money to INVEST into something more substantal that government IOUs.

    “Democratic socialism”

    Never worked, never will.

I am 55 years old, so I remember when America was FREE. There was a time when the government was NOT in everybody’s business (Personal or ecconomic) and we could use OUR OWN JUDGEMENT.

Do you think that you can “make it work this time” because you have “the right people” and “the best and the brightest” this time? That is exactly what has been said EVERY TIME. Every time, “the best and the brightest” and “the right people” were the ones who PROPOSED socialism and every time, THEY were also the ones who said that people had to DIE.

Yes, there are no “black helecopters” or “UN troops” in sight, but there are also no HAMMER AND SICKLES or RED STARS. Those are only symbols for the people to hate or adore.

By the way, AMERICA has alsways provided the UN with the most solders since the UN HAS NO troops. Some of OUR OWN congressmen have proposed that the UN be given control of our military. Then there are the demand for “international law” over-riding the Constiutution.

What do you have against the Constitution anyway?

  29. as always says:

It is an effective social contract that delivered exactly what it set out to do.

    Fool.

Today, it will take about $32.00 to buy one ounce of silver.

Social security is working as designed. It was a program set up to rob from the younger generation to pay for the older generation. It is a ponzi scheme. Like all ponzi schemes, it works very well until it suddenly stops working.

  43. M.Wilson says:

Social Security was a fraud from the start. The only way it “worked” initially, is it was set to kick in at 65 at a time when the average life expectancy was 58.

That’s right. It was intentionally designed so that the majority of people would die before they saw a penny of the money they put in, and the government could keep the difference. It was the world’s biggest con, a revenue scheme disguised as free money.

Between 1940 and 1950 the average life expectancy rose from 62 to 68, and Social Security first began to unravel. The average life expectancy now is 78, and the system is coming apart at the seams. If you want Social Security to “work as intended”, you would have to move the collection age to 85 or higher. As it stands now, it will require exponentially more money every year as the population grows. Social Security currently consumes nearly 30% of the Federal budget, and medicare consumes just as much again. Over $900 billion each, if you’re wondering. The taxes that pay for both make up 35% of federal revenue, just over $800 billion, which works out to 17.5%/$400 billion per program. In other words, they cost twice as much as the taxes that supposedly pay for them.

If you’re wondering how much each program contributes to the debt, if we cut them both down to $400 billion each, the budget would be balanced. In other words, the amount that SS and Medicare exceed their tax base by accounts for the entire deficit single-handedly. Think about it.

  44. Ghost of FA Hayek says:

That is some weapons grade idiocy. You may have not noticed, Nom du Jour, but the so called stimulus spending hasn’t worked, nor has it ever, nor will it ever.

Every dollar of “stimulus”, if borrowed, must be paid back with interest, or defaulted upon, which makes further borrowing rather difficult. See: Greek Islands being sold to Qatar Emir to raise cash.

Every dollar of “stimulus” that is not borrowed but merely printed decreases value of everything. See: Hyperinflation.

Every dollar of “stimulus” neither borrowed nor printed is taken from a tax payer, individual or corporate. Every dollar taken from an individual is a dollar less the individual cannot spend on goods and services – the real stimulus. Every dollar taken from a corporation is a dollar less the corporation cannot spend on improvements, wages, expansion, R&D, or other necessities. Every dollar taken from and individual or corporation and simply given to another, your so called “stimulus”, is a net gain of zero or less. See: Soylndra.

But the fiscal and monetary debacle we find ourselves is really isn’t very hard to wrap our minds around. First all you need to know that money is a fungible proxy and ALL money is fiat – even gold. Secondly, wealth creation is dependent upon the degree of man’s ability to reason, labor and produce. Thirdly, the economy is about to implode. How do I know that? Back to visual aides.
