One of the very few things the liberals in charge do not tax is homosexuality, presumably because — for reasons too disturbing to contemplate — they want to encourage it. But punitive taxes if not a Bloomberg-style ban on sodomy would have the advantage of making their arguments easier to take seriously when it comes to cigarettes and other products they take a sanctimonious cut for allowing us to enjoy. Ann Coulter illustrates:
“If we have to worry about smokers because of Obamacare, I think we even have to do something about the gay bathhouses, because AIDS is very expensive and if I’m paying for it, how about discouraging that behavior?”
She knows the answer: government intrusion into the field of healthcare is a pretext to extravagantly tax or ban things liberals don’t like, or to punish industries that have failed to cough up generous campaign donations for the Democrat Party. If liberals thought ObamaCare would be applied to things they want to advance, they would stop screaming about obesity and scream instead about privacy and choice.
