Public Charter School Puts on Blasphemous Play

Educators have any number of ways to get their message across — from as simple as commanding students to write “Jesus” on a slip of paper and stamp on it, to as elaborate as this:

Students from the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School, or PVPA — which serves 400 pupils, grades 7-12, in South Hadley, Mass. — on March 15-17 performed the controversial play, “The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.”

A 1998 Paul Rudnick comedy that had a run in theaters in New York City, “The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told” alters the biblical Book of Genesis to include homosexual couples Adam and Steve and Jane and Mabel in the Garden; as well as a “horny” rhinoceros that tries to seduce men on the Ark; and Mary, the mother of Christ, arguing she can’t be pregnant, because she’s a lesbian “bull-dyke.”

A New England theater guide, The Theater Mirror, in a glowing review, further explains the play “gets so specific as to be a gay how-to sexbook” and summarizes it as “a goofy gay romp with a serious sting in its tale.”

The play was performed despite vociferous opposition from parents, which the director dismissed by proclaiming that the blasphemy “is, at its heart, a thoughtful investigation of the meaning of faith and family.”

Sure. Imagine them doing the same thing to the Koran.

Ridicule isn’t enough; the public has to be compelled to finance the defilement of any god that dares compete with degenerate collectivist authoritarianism.

Homosexual blasphemy on the public dime.

And we’re all surprised? This is Massachusetts, after all.

Homosexuals should give some thought as to what follows after Christianity is gone.

    Defund now.

    GOD will not be mocked!
    GOD’s people better get ready!

Their preforming arts reduced to preforming garbage wait for some reptile on BROADWAY to turn it intoa big time broadway production

  • StanInTexas

First, this does not bother me much. And that is because, unlike the impotent and pathetic God of the Muslims, my God is bigger that a play or the work of some idiotic Liberal.

However, if this school had done a play with religious overtones of any kind, the parents and the media would have been up in arms about the school indoctrinating the children and cries of ‘separation of church and state’ would reverberate around the country. Only when Christianity is being mocked is religious indoctrination a fine thing.

  • Clingtomyguns

MaryHunter nails it – what more can you expect from a bunch of vile Massholes acting out their depraved psychoses and Christophobias? But if they wanted to do a non-fictional play on real sexual perversion in religion that suits them, they need look no further than:

    1. Sodom and Gomorrah, which they appear to be well staffed to carry out. As fire and brimstone consume the cast and teachers for their debauchery and crimes against nature, the audience can turn their backs so they don’t become like Lot’s wife;

    2. Mohammed’s pedophile marriage and rape of his child bride Aisha. And, the can cut to Mohammed’s 50 sex slaves and wives. (Koran 4:3, :24, 5:89, 23:5, 33:50, 58:3, 70:30)

    http://crazyislam.typepad.com/home/2009/08/islam-and-mohammed.html

We’ll hold our breath until these “brave” educrats and actors feel the artistic urge to do one of these plays. Spineless wimps know that Christians won’t burn them at the stake, cut off their appendages, or stone them to death, as modern Islamics would. But their day will come when they get what they so richly deserve.

Shouldn’t Hillary be notified about this? After all, in her “response” to the slaughter at Benghazi, when she was blaming it on a silly YouTube clip, she insisted that she was vehemently opposed to offending anyone’s religion. She even told the grieving parents of the slaughtered SEAL that she’d make sure the person who’d offended the murderers would be caught and punished. Not punishing the murderers, mind you, but punishing the person who’d offended their religious sensibilities. So shouldn’t she have the people involved in this play punished as well?

  • GoinSane

I don’t know, but maybe it’s time for the people to break out the pitch forks and torches.

Since this charter school is tone deaf to the parents, one must assume it’s actual customer is the state of Mass rather than the parents
And in this case, it appear that charter schools in Mass must now apply to the Mass Department of education to open a school or even expand.
This law, enacted in 2010 was supposedly to expand charters in low performing districts.
But it appears that they are instead selected based on moonbattery

There are 45,000 children on charter wait lists, and caps prevent additional charter schools from opening in some communities,” Marc Kenen, the association’s executive director, said in a statement. “How long should we make them wait?”
Some charter school advocates expressed disappointment that not all finalists received recommendations, particularly one for Brockton, where MCAS scores rank in the bottom 10 percent in the state; the city has no independently run charter schools.
“Choice should not be limited to those families who can send their children to parochial schools,” Afonso said.

As Stan notes, it’s interesting that a play like this, which openly blasphemes the Christian faith, is given the go- ahead, whereas I can guarantee that if the school put on ‘Jesus Christ: Superstar,’ or even just something that happens to portray Christianity in a positive light, the ACLU and the media would absolutely explode over the violation of ‘Separation of Church and State.’ In that event, they’d demand the play’s director be fired, demand the students who were its cast and crew be expelled, and demand everyone involved in it be arrested for committing a hate crime.
Also, even religously blasphemous content aside, do not forget that this heavily sex- themed play was put on at a school for 7th- 12th grade kids, with the students undoubtedly playing roles in it on stage.
Oh, but don’t you DARE accuse liberals (Especially those in the school system) of trying to deliberately sexualize underaged children.

  • whotothewhat

Sad to say many of us are unwilling spectators viewing the death of this once great nation. As a parent I would NEVER have allowed my child to participate in this disgusting leftist claptrap garbage. But I am sure the school these children attend is considered to be ENLIGHTEN and Progressive.(SARC)

It has always been a basic part of communist philosophy that to control a society, especially from within, Christianity, and all religions, must be removed from that society. This is exactly what we’re seeing from our public education system, the same system that is controlled and dominated by the communist teachers unions.

What is truly amazing is how very little the American people care about their children that they would tolerate this kind of indoctrination.

  • Tax Slave

Why don’t they do something like this to insult the Koran?

    Oh, that’s right, Christians don’t KILL blasphemers…

The brave folks in Massachusetts know better than to offend the followers of Islam; they don’t want to start seeing reports of school officials with their heads cut off.

But your point is an excellent one. Eventually any tyrannical government is going to decide that homosexuals serve no useful purpose for the state, and will outlaw them.

As long as they don’t pretend Mohammed is in a bear suit… in a cartoon.

  • Spartan24

I have heard many parents say that charter schools are an acceptable alternative to public schools but I was always leery of them since they do take tax money. There have also been reports of Islamic schools that somehow end up as charter schools when they are conducting prayers and teaching Islamic doctrine. It goes without saying that a Christian group that tried this would not have even been granted a charter. We have our daughter in a Christian school but it’s iffy to say anything about next year plus our son will be eligible for pre k in 2 years and we can’t keep both in private school. I will be homeschooling at some point rather than deal with public school.

  • JNN

Can others make plays lampooning gays?

  • StanInTexas

JNN, I heard this account several years ago.

When the blasphemous movie The Last Temptation of Christ was made, many Christian groups protested and boycotted the film. The leader of one of the groups spoke with a studio executive about their concerns. The leader was told by the studio executive “We would NEVER make a movie that offends blacks, gays, or women; but we will not let a bunch of Christians tell us what kind of movie we can make.” ::IRONY ALERT::

Liberal have no problem offending people, they just want to be able to decide who is worth of offense and who is worthy of protection from offense.

  • Mack Hall, HSG

None of you voted in your last school board election, and you won’t vote in the next. And in the matter of charter schools, another gimmick promised to save us, you don’t get to vote at all on these taxpayer-funding public schools run by contractors.

  • Tax Slave

    Mack Hall, HSG,

How about a free-market solution? Privatize all schools; cut property taxes accordingly, and require all schoolchildren go to a school.

The state requires all drivers to get automobile insurance, yet doesn’t force drivers to buy it from the state, just from private companies.

I hope you’re right I pray He acts quickly. Send an asteroid or flood or something. This story amazes me. I don’t understand how parents knew this was going to happen, put up a fight, and still lost. I’d have pulled my kids out of that school forever and homeschooled them or else sent them to out-of-state relatives to go to school elsewhere. Unreal.

  • The Liberal

ITT: Butthurt conservatives wish we still lived in the 1600s when anti-blasphemy laws existed because they got super offended at satire.

No, really, you say your BibleGod is super duper powerful, then you get bent out of shape when people justly make fun of him. Why does BibleGod need you to defend him? If he exists, and he’s offended, he would probably wipe the people out himself. Oh, but, of course, when they die of natural causes, that was the hand of god.

Essentially, you want to restrict the right to free speech to you, or at least to topics you find inoffensive. Neither of those things are actually free speech, fyi. Just so you know, not sure you did.

  • Liberal too scared to say

ITT: Butthurt Muslims wish we still lived in the 700s when Muhammad existed because they got super offended at satire.

No, really, you say your Allah is super duper powerful, then you get bent out of shape when people justly make fun of him. Why does Allah need you to defend him? If he exists, and he’s offended, he would probably wipe the people out himself. Oh, but, of course, when they die of natural causes, that was the hand of Allah.

Did you know: Allah is Arabic for god! Christians in Arabic speaking countries thus call god… Allah. Fun fact. And Muslims and Christians alike need to move from the 16th to the 21st century, neither of you are exempted. You just feel that, since liberals (anyone to the left of whoever is talking at the moment) don’t actively hate Islam and want to kill every single one of them like you do, they support it wholeheartedly and wish to implement Sharia Law. It seems to have to be one or the other with you guys.

  • Flu-Bird

Nothing is sacred and EASTERS COMMING

  • Spartan24

Nobody said anything about “killing all Muslims” asshole- just that they are somehow too sacred to make this kind of mockery about. Of course that would be “racist” somehow. Bottom line- if you don’t like this sort of nonsense then put your kids in private school or homeschool.

  • oldguy

Yaweh and Allah are one and the same. What is in argument are the prophets and their followers, both of whom were mortals.

  • Jodie

Technically that may be correct, but the one the Muslims call “Allah”, is the one I call Satan. They are not worshiping the God of the Bible – who is our creator. They are worshiping the god of death and evil, that is Satan.

  • Adam

Let’s tear into ‘The Liberal”s display of hatred and ignorance:
“Butthurt conservatives wish we still lived in the 1600s when anti-blasphemy laws existed because they got super offended at satire.”
None of us have said that, and you know it. Nice strawman you’ve erected there.
“want to kill every single one of them like you do.”
Again, none of us have said we want to kill all Muslims.
“No, really, you say your BibleGod is super duper powerful, then you get bent out of shape when people justly make fun of him.”
First, it’s not “Justly,” it’s just sickos trying to blaspheme what’s holy. Second, we get bothered because we love God, and know how great He is.
“Why does BibleGod need you to defend him?”
1 Peter 3:15 instructs believers to always be read to give an answer/ defense to anyone who asks for th reason why we have His hope in our hearts.
“If he exists, and he’s offended, he would probably wipe the people out himself.”
False premise. He did that in the Old Testament a good deal, but Christ’s sacrifice for us on the Cross put an end to that. Now, out of Christ’s mercy, He lets such people live so they can have opportunities to repent of what they have done and seek God’s forgiveness. If they do not repent, when they die and stand before God’s judgement, they’ll learn firsthand what He thinks of their blasphemy. It won’t be a good day for them.
“Essentially, you want to restrict the right to free speech to you, or at least to topics you find inoffensive. Neither of those things are actually free speech, fyi.”
You seem to be confusing conservatives with liberals. Liberals regularly seek to silence anyone that disagrees with them (i.e. Their support of the Fairness Doctrine).
btw, this is not a free speech issue, we don’t have an issue with the fact that this play exists. Here are the issues we have:
    1. The hypocrisy. This religiously blasphemous play is allowed to be performed at a public charter school in spite of parents expressing their opposition to it, yet any public charter school which put on a production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ or some other play portraying the Christian faith in a remotely positive light would result in a torrent of lawsuits being filed by the ACLU on the supposed grounds of “Separation of church and state” (Though none of the ultra- liberals who fling that term around to try and stifle any public display of Christianity appear to know what it actually means), as would any production portraying Islam in a remotely negative light on the grounds of it being “Religiously offensive.” In other words, they feel that openly insulting and blaspheming one religion is ok, but doing the same to another religion is a horrible outrage that cannot be permitted.
    2. Where the play was being performed. Let’s for a minute lay aside the religious blasphemy aspect, and pretend that the play has nothing to do with any religion. It is a heavily sex- themed play, openly promoting sodomy (“A New England theater guide… further explains the play “gets so specific as to be a gay how-to sexbook””) and bestiality (“a “horny” rhinoceros that tries to seduce men on the Ark”), being put on at a PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL and performed by UNDERAGED CHILDREN! In that sense, it would be no different from our objecting to a public school’s drama department putting on a performance of another play with a heavily sexual theme such as ‘Rent’ or ‘The Rocky Horror Show.’ It would be a different story if the play were being put on at a college or an adult theater, since then it would be somewhere where particiption/ enrollment is not mandatory and it would be performed by legal, consenting adults. Here, it’s being perfomed at a public school attended by underaged children as young as 12. That is simply wrong.

“Did you know: Allah is Arabic for god! Christians in Arabic speaking countries thus call god… Allah. Fun fact.”
Here are a couple fun facts for you:
    1. Muslims in Arabic countries view Christians referring to God as “Allah” as blasphemous, and try to kill Christians who openly do so.
    2. (And this goes to oldguy’s response as well) The God the Bible, Yahweh/ Jehovah, and the god of the Koran, Allah, are completely different in a variety of ways. The God of the Bible refers to Jews as His chosen people; Allah in the Koran was known for turning Jews into rats, pigs, and monkeys, and openly demanding Muslims kill them on sight.

“And Muslims and Christians alike need to move from the 16th to the 21st century, neither of you are exempted.”
Christianity has done an excellent job of evolving and adapting to modern society. A big part of the reason why Christianity has survived and endured over the millennia, in spite of its persecution in some areas, has been because of the way it can adapt to the world’s changes while staying faithful to its core. Christianity has greatly evolved along with modern society and adapted to changing times in a multitude of ways, such as in terms of its treatment of women (Women in Christian nations are now allowed to go to school, vote, hold public office, become ordained ministers in most denominations, etc.), its tolerance of other religions and differing points of view (When was the last time someone in a Christian nation was executed for “Witchcraft” or “heresy”?),and its interest in social issues and fighting injustice (i.e. Christian organizations helping to bring an end to slavery and child labor, Christian churches encouraging and supporting the Civil Rights movement, and churches and other Christian organizations today helping to fight against human trafficking), while still holding true to the core beliefs and principles of their faith. Islam, in contrast, not only refuses to evolve or adapt to modern society (Other than Islamic terrorist groups accepting/ utilizing modern technology to help them find new ways to bring death and destruction to “Infidels”) in any of the ways that Christanity has, they demand that the rest of the world (Particularly the Western world) bend over backwards to accomodate them and their oudated, often dangerous beliefs, out of fear of being openly accused of racism or “Islamophobia” if they don’t.

“(You feel that liberals who defend radical Islam) support it wholeheartedly and wish to implement Sharia Law.”
No, we never said that. Another strawman. They in fact probably have even more to fear from Sharia law being implemented than conservatives do. We feel that such liberals are naive, short- sighted dopes who don’t realize that their continued concessions to the increasingly extreme/ radical demands that Muslims are making could very well lead to Sharia law eventually being implemented in the long run. This is exemplified by Britain, which has for many years now been acting as a kind of ‘Canary in the coalmine” early warning system on what could happen here in the US if we keep pandering to every ridiculous demand Muslims make.
    That about sums things up.
