No Purple Hearts for Fort Hood Survivors

The liberal-run Department of Defense is adamant: no Purple Hearts will be awarded to those wounded in “Soldier of Allah” Nidal Hasan’s terror attack on Fort Hood. Here’s why:

A Pentagon position paper, delivered to congressional staff on Friday and obtained by ABC News, says giving the award to the Fort Hood victims could “irrevocably alter the fundamental character of this time-honored decoration” and “undermine the prosecution of Major Nidal Hasan [the alleged Fort Hood shooter] by materially and directly compromising Major Hasan’s ability to receive a fair trial.”

It’s all about priorities.

Due to the soldiers at the base having been disarmed, Hasan managed to kill 14 Americans and wound 32 others. As if indulging in black humor, the Obama Regime absurdly instructed us to regard the incident — during which Hasan screamed “Allahu Akhbar” — as random “workplace violence.” Political apparatchik General George Casey Jr., serving as Army Chief of Staff, declared of the bloody assault that had been made possible by political correctness pushed to the point of insanity:

“[I]t would be a shame if our diversity became a casualty…”

America’s enemies control the command structure. This doesn’t do much to enhance the morale of those stopping bullets to defend Western Civilization from Islam.

Timothy McVeigh was arrested, tried, convicted, appealed, upheld, and executed in SIX YEARS after the OKC Bombing. In the years since this act of terrorism, all we have is a ruling the Hasan cannot be made to shave his beard.

This incident is an embarrassment for the Army and for this Administration, and their is no depth either of them will go to in order to lesson this act of TERRORISM.

Ft Hood was terrorist act, Hasan was performing JIHAD and the United States is at war with JIHADISTs and terrorists, therefore it was a war zone. Hasan turned FT Hood into a combat zone when he murdered and wounded United States servicemen and woman.

The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those who have been wounded or killed while serving on or after April 5, 1917 with the U.S. military.

Where the service men and women in service. YES
Where they wounded or killed. YES

Specific examples of services which warrant the Purple Heart include any action against an enemy of the United States; any action with an opposing armed force of a foreign country in which the Armed Forces of the United States are or have been engaged; while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party; as a result of an act of any such enemy of opposing armed forces; or as the result of an act of any hostile foreign force.

Was Hasan acting as an enemy of the United States when he attacked US service personnel? YES, He was a soldier of Allah, a JIHADIST.

Was this a result of an act of any such enemy of opposing armed forces; or as the result of an act of any hostile foreign force? YES, again as a JIHADIST and soldier of Allah, Hasan was an enemy combatant.

Screw the government, EVERY peron that was killed or wounded need to wear the purple heart.

The aministration has this right. This was just a crime. His motivation is not relevant. Under all the rules of war and precedent, Hassan was on our side. He wore our uniform, was paid by our paymasters and took orders from other American military officers (mostly). Prosecuting him for his criminal behavior is the shortest path to justice. There is no reason to muddy this stream by turning it into a grab for military decorations. Crime victims DONT GET MEDALS.

There is plenty of precedent. In the Vietnam war, it was an occasional practice for US service men to assassinate their own officers, called “fragging”. The motivation for why they did it was never relevant. Only the action was important. When such men were caught, they were prosecuted for their crimes. They were not accused of treason and held as POWs, and then traded back to the Vietnamese govt at the end of the war.

There is just no basis for calling someone wearing our uniform an “enemy combatant”.

And No one is stopping bullets to defend Western Civ from Islam. Our borders are wide open to Islamists seeking to resettle here, just as they are through out Europe. Whatever else you may think is going on in Iraq or Afghanistan or at Fort Hood, defending Civilization is not even on the menu.

The left is trying to cheapen the Purple Heart award like they have done to the Nobel Prize.

  • TED

Purple Hearts fallow after an attack by some idiot screaming Allah AckBar no matter what UNIFORM he was wearing, He was a SPY!

  • http://newrebeluniv.wordpress.com Professor Hale

Ted, The word “Spy” actually means something. This isn’t it.

Guess what the moslems who are on our side yell when they go into battle. It starts with an A.

There’s another name for those like Hassan, which is “sleepers”. There are plenty of them in the US military and/or living in the US. They are Islamists serving in the US military who are biding their time, until they get the word to attack. Hassan may have gotten impatient and his hatred of the US soldiers around him got to be too much. There will likely come a time when these attacks are more common against our US military personnel. You can bet that Obama will then put in restraints to protect these sleeper.

  • Tax Slave

    Spy? No.
    Saboteur, maybe.
    Traitor, definitely.
Force feed him pork, hang him, and bury him in a coffin stuffed with lard.

    Tax Slave,

    I wish!

In reality, they don’t even have the guts require him to shave. Maybe someone will write him a sternly worded letter, but I don’t expect much more than that.

    Ain’t THAT the Truth!

Force shave this vile slug then fry his sorry behind and CREMATE him while covered in lard.

Mix the ashes with anything from the pig and throw it to the winds.. make sure to record this and put it on Youtube so jihadists know what is in store for them.

The can NOT go to alla and his 72 virgins if their remains are treated this way.

Though we may be doing them a favor since a little birdie named Dante told me that the 72 virgins are Michael Moore clones wearing tutus.

Sorry, Professor Hale, seems like you’re one of US though I still don’t get your post in a way that makes positive sense.

I really don’t understand your post, I think.

Yes by all means, let’s not give the Purple Heart to these men injured or killed by an enemy combatant even though he was wearing the US uniform, those metals need to be for the ones who really deserve them not John F’n Kerry. Who got a bad boo boo in Vietnam!

I, too, was wondering about all those fine Muslims on “our side.” I’m sure there are many. I just haven’t heard of them.

Here’s another item you can take to the bank. 100% of Muslims who voted, voted for Dear Leader.

“Treason” and “Traitor”. Those words also have meaning. The SOB ceased to be an American solder as soon as he plotted against our country.

Yep, instead of Charles “The Hammer” Martell, we get Barrrrrrraaaacccckkk “I ‘Heart’ Muslims” Hussein Obummer. End of civilization as we know it? Could well be . . .

There is no doubt in my mind that Hassan needs to be severely punished. But treating him as an enemy combatant is the wrong way to do it. Nor can he be an enemy combatant if he is not a member of an enemy oranization and under their direct control. A generic afiliation with Islam is not sufficient. This isn’t about liking or disliking Hassan. It is just basic definitions. Just because it is obvious to me that he is not an enemy soldier does not mean I wouldn’t like to see him beaten to death in a federal prison.

BTW, Timothy Mcveigh wasn’t a terrorist either. He was a psychopath. There is a difference. It is possible to be both, but McVeigh was just crazy. Most mass murderes and serial murderers are.

It is a tool of the left to change language itself to demonize their opponents and give their own side added credibility. The bread crumbs here are easy to follow: Obama sides with Islamic terrorists against wounded soldiers. But in this case, Hassan and the injured soldiers were all in the same army. They wore the same uniform. To the extent that Obama is involved at all, he is commander in chief to all of them. As such he owes justice to the dead and wounded as well as owing due process to HIS soldier Hassan.

When our own soldiers misbehave, we treat them as criminals, not as enemies.

Moslem are always shouting Allay Akbar. They do it when they are killing Westerners, when they are killing each other, when they are praying for peace, when they take their kids to the Aquarium and look at the sharks. The only thing it means is that they are Moslems. It’s what they do.

And naturally I would like to point pout that Obama is a moron. But I seriously doubt he has had anything to do with this case. The decisions to treat this is workplace violence is done at a much lower level. Just like the attack at Fort Bragg in the 1995, the Fort Knox shooting in 1993, and the grenade attack in Kuwait in 2003.

In 1945 we summarily executed NAZI General Anton Dostler because he “ordered” the execution of 20 unarmed American soldiers. This “Soldier of Allah” scum, an admitted enemy spy mind you, murdered 13 and wounded 30 unarmed American soldiers and we’re providing him with a 4 year show trial! This is insanity and its not PROGRESS! We dishonored the memory of every American who died for this country when we elected Obama!

  • Tim from TK

“When our own soldiers misbehave, we treat them as criminals, not as enemies.”

Yes, when they “misbehave”. Wholesale slaughter in the name of the enemy, though, is hardly “misbehaving”. If the wounded at Camp Pennsylvania received, as I believe they did, Purple Hearts, then those at Ft. Hood do as well.

  • M.Wilson

The fact of the matter is he committed an act of treason.

Now, Professor Hale is right on one point: Hasan is not an enemy combatant, he was one of our soldiers. However, he is entirely wrong as to the implications of this fact.

If he had been an enemy combatant, this would have been an act of war, albeit in gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and thus forfeiting his protection as a POW. We would thus be trying him for war crimes and executing him.

However, as a member of our armed forces and NOT an enemy combatant, committing an act of war against the United States constitutes treason, also punishable by death.

Either way, by all rights he should be executed. Indeed, in any sane and just society he would be dead already. Therefore, our rulers are likely to classify his crime as an act of “social justice” and let him off with a slap on the wrist.
