Ford Caves to Obama Regime
The unscripted Ford ad in which a customer explains that he bought a Ford because the company did not allow itself to be bought out by Big Government has been pulled under pressure by the same administration that has seized control of its competitors:
With President Barack Obama tuning his re-election campaign amid dismal economic conditions and simmering antipathy toward his stimulus spending and associated bailouts, the Ford ad carried the makings of a political liability when Team Obama can least afford yet another one. Can’t have that.
The ad, pulled in response to White House questions [i.e., pressure] (and, presumably, carping from rival GM), threatened to rekindle the negative (if accurate) association just when the president wants credit for their positive results (GM and Chrysler are moving forward, making money and selling vehicles) and to distance himself from any public downside of his decision.
To the long list of disadvantages Ford has chosen to shoulder to remain part of the free market we can now add that it can’t run commercials that the effective CEO of Government Motors and Chrysler (i.e., Obama) doesn’t like.
True Ford’s hands are not completely clean, because it has taken government loans. But compared to its government-subsidized Detroit competitors, it is the American spirit incarnate.

Ever since the takeover of GM and Chrysler, and the handover of those companies to the unions, I’ve thought it very unfair that Ford has to negotiate labor costs with what are in effect, its competitors. Shouldn’t Ford should be able to declare the UAW a hostile entity, and disband the union within its factories?
The way it is now would be like the Taliban getting to decide who can lead and what strategies the US forces could apply to the war effort in Afghanistan.
Keep caving Ford. Lots of us will at you to the Do Not Buy List along with Dodge & GM. And we buy a lot of trucks in Texas.
We dont have a president we have a dictator
Can you imagine the SHRIEKS OF BLOODY MURDER over this if Bush were president?
Didn’t think so.
I had a Chevy Colorado. I loved that truck. When it was time for me to upgrade, I looked at the Chevy Silverado….but this was before I had learned about Chevy’s politics. I could never be caught driving an “Obamarado.” I am a proud owner of a 2010 F-150 Crew Cab. I find it funny when I watch football on Sunday that EPSN and NBC advertise Chevy and Dodge, while FOX promotes Ford products.
CORPORATOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would not be too hard on Ford, though.
Their priorities are to their products, their customers, and their shareholders.
The fight for individual liberty and responsibility, free markets, ect is our responsibility.
Besides, the message is what counts, and it is out.
The Won cannot put that genie back in the bottle now.

(Since the unions are co-owners of GM and Chrysler)…..”Shouldn’t Ford should be able to declare the UAW a hostile entity, and disband the union within its factories?”
Good point, Aaron.
More people will be seeking out this commercial than would have seen it had it been run like an ordinary ad. People are now talking about it.
On the other hand, discretion is the better part of valor. After what happened at Gibson Guitars, would you want to tick off a man who has an army standing by?
14 years old and still going… my 97 Ford Powerstoke outpulls much of the “green” competition.
Lemme see……GM is outsourcing jobs to China. Chrysler is owned by Fiat.
Personally, I think the Ford Motor Company, following the example of their founder, should tell the Obama Administration to stuff it.
Screw GM, screw Obama, and screw his stupid Portuguese water dog too.
I’m STILL driving my FORD!! Come get me Bammy!
Ataaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaach Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatch. ROTFLMAO!
NMS says:
Screw GM, screw Obama, and screw his stupid Portuguese water dog too
Sorry, but the screwing of the PWD has been reserved for members of CAIR
Ford’s biggest mistake was not telling the UAW to fuck themselves and dissolving the contract in bankruptcy court.
Want a job? Good, interview for it.
There are few organizations in America that are as far left as the Ford Foundation. Some of the places they have put their (your) money over the years should make real Americans both sick and angry. Hit them back where it counts. ($$$)
BOYCOTT FORD!
Ford is a good company, and makes great products in the single most competitive industry on the planet. Some of you folks ought to take a deep breath, settle down, and quit acting like you want to cut your nose off to spite your face because of some half-informed (at best) notions about principles that you probably wouldn’t apply to yourselves anyway. So you don’t like Obama, so what, that’s got ZERO to do with Ford. Just sayin’.
