The war on cigarettes provided a perfect template, which progressives can now apply to everything else people enjoy. Here scientists prove that soda pop is harmful to children and other living things:
While previous studies have linked soda consumption with higher rates of obesity, a study published in the journal Pediatrics, says it also causes aggressive, violent behavior in children as young as 5 years old. …
Children who consumed at least four servings of soda per day were twice as likely than those who didn’t drink any soda to display aggressive violent behaviors — such as destroying other people’s belongings, starting physical fights and verbally attacking other children. The kids were also more likely to have trouble paying attention to instructions, and were more withdrawn socially compared to 5-year-olds who didn’t consume soda.
Who the hell gives a 5-year-old at least four sodas a day?
Since this is not science in any meaningful sense but only political propaganda intended to generate government grant money, it is doubtful that more than a handful of the many confounding factors that might accompany massively excessive soda consumption were controlled for. The authors didn’t even bother to distinguish between diet and regular soda, or to determine exact serving size.
No matter. As handmaidens to authoritarians like Michael Bloomberg, they did their job well. Just as a lab rat gets a cocaine pellet when it presses the correct bar, they can be sure the NIH will shovel taxpayer money their way.
Maybe their next study will indicate that sugar should be banned because children suffocate when you dump a ton of it on their heads.
