If America is still a free country, explain this:
The New Mexico Supreme Court ruled Thursday that two Christian photographers who declined to photograph a same-sex union violated the state’s Human Rights Act. One justice said the photographers were “compelled by law to compromise the very religious beliefs that inspire their lives.”
The term “human rights” has been twisted to the point that it is synonymous with oppression. Our liberal rulers despise Christianity and revere sexual depravity; therefore you will too, or at least behave as if you do. Otherwise you will be punished in the name of “human rights.”
In 2006 Vanessa Willock asked Elaine and Jonathan Huguenin, owners of Elane Photography, to photograph a same-sex “commitment ceremony” in the town of Taos.
Huguenin and her husband declined the job because their Christian beliefs were in conflict with the message communicated by the ceremony.
Willock found another photographer at a cheaper price but nevertheless filed a complaint with the New Mexico Human Rights Commission accusing Elane Photography of discrimination based on sexual orientation. She was later found guilty and ordered to pay thousands of dollars in fines.
“The Huguenins today can no more turn away customers on the basis of their sexual orientation – photographing a same-sex marriage ceremony – than they could refuse to photograph African-Americans or Muslims,” Justice Richard Bosson wrote in the court’s unanimous decision.
That’s how favored homosexuals are now; they are listed at the very top of the PC caste system along with blacks and Muslims. Christians and anyone else with sufficient moral grounding to resist progressivism come in at the bottom.
In a free country, photographers would take the pictures they choose to take for their own reasons, not the pictures sanctimonious authoritarians command them to take for political reasons.
We cannot tolerate the current state of affairs and call ourselves Americans in any meaningful sense.
It’s not that the whole country has rejected freedom.
A recent Rasmussen survey found that 85 percent of Americans support the right of a photographer to refuse participating in a same-sex wedding.
We just don’t seem to be willing to fight for it anymore. Consequently, a malevolent minority (liberals comprise only about 20% of the population) is taking it away.
The solution? Call out liberalism for what it is: a disease. Fight it tooth and nail at every opportunity. Refuse to give an inch to it ever. The alternative is to let this intellectual gangrene keep gnawing away at our freedom and decency bit by bit until we have none left at all.
