Say Good-bye to Your Favorite Light Bulbs

The light bulb is the traditional symbol of human ingenuity. Nothing could be more emblematic of our corrupt and ideologically deranged ruling class than banning it:

Light bulb manufacturers will cease making traditional 40 and 60-watt light bulbs — the most popular in the country — at the start of 2014.

This comes after the controversial phasing out of incandescent 75 and 100-watt light bulbs at the beginning of 2013.

In their place, our rulers will permit us to use halogen bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs, LED bulbs, and high-efficiency incandescents — all of which are substantially more expensive. Presumably that means higher profits. They are also more difficult to manufacture. That means less competition from small companies for crony capitalists like GE and Philips who, thanks to generous lobbying (i.e., bribery), have a seat at the table in Washington.

We have been told that using normal, affordable light bulbs makes it be too hot outside, discomforting the sacred polar bears. Anyone who believes this will be in the dark regardless of which products Washington allows us to use.

The rules were signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2007.

As the Big Government noose tightens around our throats, squeezing off the last remnants of free choice, it becomes ever more obvious that it is not enough to elect Republicans — we need to elect conservatives.

The good news is that if we ever get a president with balls in the office, we can undo stupid laws like this.

  • Eleanor in Hell

There’s some goofball down here that calls himself “Light Bulb Johnson.”

  • F.D.R. in Hell

Babs, that guy, who picks up Hell’s Hounds by the ears, was the 36th President. As Vice President, he had a hand in moving JFK out of his way. One bad dude.

    Old the phone!
What’s Lucifer going to do when his 40w Oven Bulbs blow?

We prudently stocked up on our favorite bulbs several years ago. Since we are 67 and 68 years old, it didn’t take much space to store enough light bulbs for our lifetime.

  • Leroy Woodall

I have a stockpile of them especially for use in the winter because they put off heat and the old furnace is not what it used to be. Those energy saving bulbs don’t ever break one open or it will be hazmat suit emergency room time thanks to all the mercury.

A PERFECT symbol for the Obama era, the phasing out of intelligence in this country…

  • Mickey Shea

Bush was a piece of shit, he paved the way for a psycho like Obama.
He started a crappy war in Iraq that cost a fortune and got us nothing.
    Same for Afghanistan.
He started the Department of Homeland Security.
The economy melted down under his watch.
He used to quack “Islam is a religion of peace” till I puked.
    He sucked.

Shopping at military stores (commissaries) in several states at several bases, I noticed a trend. There were certain products which, due to price and quality, it was hard to keep stocked. They would have a space for them but they sold so quickly those spaces would be largely empty on any given day. So how did the government purchasing agents deal with this? Did they start ordering larger quantities or the same quantities more often? No, that’s not the government way. They deemed that since the space was usually empty the best thing to do would be to stop ordering those products at all and fill the space with something that would sit around and not give the impression of empty shelves.

Seriously – every product that I liked, that they seemed to have trouble stocking because others liked it too, would be discontinued.

    That’s government for you!

    Unfortunately that’s a common misconception.

Presidents, other than Obama anyway, don’t make laws – Congress does. So we don’t just have to get rid of the obamunists in the White House, we need to get rid of the Democrats in Congress. Or at least enough of them so that when we DO manage to get a sensible guy in the White House, Congress will send him the right sorts of laws to sign to fix this and other problems created by Democrats for the past 100 years or so.

No question that W is a progressive POS like his daddy before him. I have dozens of these bulbs stashed so this won’t affect me. If I do need a bulb I will go wit LED. NEVER buy those florescent bulbs.

  • Dr. 9

    Well said Mickey Shea.

Notice how they never mention the potential risks involved with using, storing, and especially disposing of, florescent bulbs. Just wait until you see what’s involved in “properly” getting rid of them.

  • Spurwing Plover

Lets see one of those buricrats breaka compact florecent bulb in their castle on the huanted hill during a big blizard Lets see this also happen at the HQ of those eco-wacko groups

Rep. Fred Upton’s name is on that bill too… he should be voted out of office.

  • Jodie

Even if we do save a couple of bucks on electricity by using the alternative light bulbs, we will need to spend a couple of hundred bucks on glasses, because you just can’t see to read very well with the CFL’s. And, like Dr. 9 said, we’ll have the cost of storing them and disposing of them, lest we risk imprisonment for not obeying the CFL disposal and hazardous cleanup laws.

Halogen bulbs are one of the hottest burning bulbs out there.
