Arrogant Atheist Puts the Kibosh on Toys for Needy Kids

Militant moonbats don’t mind a little collateral damage in their war on Christianity — not even if it means depriving needy kids of Christmas toys. For example:

The U.S. Air Force Academy has pulled out of a Christian-sponsored children’s toy drive after commanders were accused of religious intolerance.

“Religious intolerance” in this context means “tolerance for Christianity.”

Mikey Weinstein, an academy graduate who runs the Military Religious Freedom Foundation [a militant atheist outfit], said the academy’s participation in Operation Christmas Child is inappropriate because of its evangelical Christian roots.

Operation Christmas Child is sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, headed by Franklin Graham — the son of evangelist Billy Graham. It packs toys and other items into shoe boxes and sends them to needy children around the world, along with a Christian message in each gift.

“This is arrogance beyond measure,” Weinstein told the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Incredibly, Weinstein was referring not to his own arrogance in thinking cadets should be prevented from donating toys to needy children in the interests of his own fanatical belief in nihilism, but the alleged arrogance of participating in any charity that does not disavow Christianity, which liberals hate ferociously for serving as the backbone of Western Civilization.

The academy never denied the religious aspect of the charity, but said at first there was nothing wrong with the school’s participation. The cadets would donate toys and other items, but wouldn’t have anything to do with the religious message included with the gifts when they’re delivered, academy spokesman John Van Winkle originally said.

But like most modern institutions, the Air Force Academy appears to be run by weasels and moonbats; typically, they quickly caved to liberal fascism. Sorry kids. Maybe some Muslim group will stand up and send you a suicide bomber belt for Ramadan.

A gallup poll finds that the majority of democrats never go to church:

    http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/majority-democrats-seldom-or-never-go-church-says-gallup

I can’t imagine that this isn’t at the heart of the problem with these thoroughly rotten people.

  • StanInTexas

Why is it that Liberals think their their rights are superior to everyone elses rights? That is they think something is wrong or bad, that it means that NO ONE should be allowed to participate in that activity?

Liberals only PRETEND to love freedom; when in reality they only love freedom when THEY get to define what should be free and what should be forbidden.

Wouldn’t it be great if some sort of reverse-rapture happened and all the d-bags disappeared?

  • Mickey Shea

And not ONE person at the Academy with the cojones to stand up against this moonbattery?

  • AC

GoY, not all nonbelievers are jerks. This guy is an jerky grinch, period. A person with this mindset would still be making things difficult for others, even if he professed a nominal belief.

I don’t hold it against all Christians that a few of them, for example, took away online poker from everyone as part of a moralizing agenda.

Jerks and control freaks are found across all cultures and creeds.

  • StanInTexas

AC, the difference is when those people are given some power. Occasionally, a religious person will try to inflict their limited religious knowledge on everyone. But those instances are few, because using religion as a governmental tool is quickly squashed by the courts.

Whereas when atheistic jerks like this get some power, they quickly try to quash ANYTHING that has any religion on it. Recall a few yeard ago how the City oo New York ruled that local government buildings could not have a manger scene because it was religious in nature, but could have a Jewish Menorah and a Muslim cresent, because they were “cultural”.

These intolerant people are the most dangerous people in government and should NEVER be given power.

  • WingMann

When you understand that self-loathing is the foundation of the Liberal character, then you also understand why Liberals are driven to destroy anything that they perceive to be good and decent. That ability to destroy goodness is one of their few pleasures in an otherwise miserable life.

  • GoY

I think the ratio of atheists stomping on Christians to Christians stomping on atheists is something like 8,000 to 1 in this country.

I notice that the ACLU is outsourcing the whole repression of Christianity thing to other organizations now.

  • AC

The ones we hear about are the intolerant jerks. The guy who can’t make up his mind is probably keeping his opinions to himself.

I don’t have the answers to religious questions, and therefore, I keep my opinions to myself rather than forcibly imposing them on others.

This guy is a jerk who wanted to ruin something good others had built. If their Christianity makes them better, more caring people, then it is a good thing, to be encouraged, regardless of my feelings or lack of feelings on the matter.

There are many good, hardworking people who love this country, don’t have the answers, and keep their beliefs (or lack thereof) to themselves. They don’t deserve to be thrown in with the militant ACLU idiots whose disruption of our nation goes far beyond matters of faith.

Stan, this guy is a jerk. If he didn’t feel so strongly about his lack of faith then he’d still be off doing jerky things in other contexts.

The jerk in question is not keeping his beliefs to himself. His agenda is the ruination of a good thing others have created.

The common thread amongst people doing things like this is that they are all jerks. Nonbeliever is a much broader category which includes many good people. There are no good people to be found in the category of professional jerks.

  • StanInTexas

AC, please clarify somrething for me. Are you using the words ‘atheist’ and ‘non-believer’ to mean the same thing? I have a response to your comment above, but do not want to presuppose what you are saying.

  • lao

    Blount claims:

Needy kids will be deprived of Christmas toys.

    and

Cadets will be prevented from donating toys to needy children.

    and

The Christian charity will be disavowed.

All wrong, as demonstrated by Blount’s own link.

…the academy’s chaplains — who are permitted to take part in and support religious projects — have taken over the drive.

“The cadets’ had nothing but good intentions, but this was something that should have started with the Chaplains, not the Cadet Wing.  That doesn’t mean the cadets can’t volunteer for the Christmas toy drive, they can participate through the Cadet Chaplain Corps.”

  • StanInTexas

Splitting hairs again I see, LaoZee.

Remember folks, that is only a crime when Loa is not doing it.

You are pathetic as ever, LaoZee!

  • lao

Poor stanwee, quoting from the source Blount provided is “splitting hairs”.

Demonstrating that Blount ignored information from that article that contradicted his claims, is “splitting hairs”.

  • GoY

This guy is a jerk who wanted to ruin something good others had built.

    Yup.

The non-douchebag thing to do would have been to not raise a stink about it.

  • lao/andy/anonymous/fez

There are no good people to be found in the category of professional jerks.

    We are too good people!

  • StanInTexas

    Blount ignored NOTHING you simpleton.

And it is funny because you DELIBERATELY leave out information from your posts, while you decry others doing the same thing.

You are a liar and a hypocrite, LaoZee. You may run-away now, nancy-boy!

  • JT

Speaking of douchebags, lao’s back. LOL

  • StanInTexas

GoY, even if he had started a campaign to encourage people not to support the drive, that would have been OK too, as it would have allowed the cadets to make a choice.

As it was, Weinstein decided that he didn’t like the drive… so NO ONE shoudl be allowed to participate in it. he decided that his rights were superior to others rights. Typical Liberal!

  • GoY

I’m just saying that good guys don’t put their personal ideology in front of helping kids, douchebags do. And, yes, there are plenty of religious douchebags. Mike Huckabee, for example.

  • StanInTexas

I agree that there are jesrks on both sides. It just always turns out to be the Leftists who try to supercede everyone elses rights because THEY don’t like something.

    As in this case.

  • Grunt

Hmm. Seems to me there was a stink a few days back about how the Muzzies didn’t like the “offensive” idea of a similar program and sought to have it cancelled or something.

Now we have some nihilist asshat who doesn’t want “his” group to participate in this charity. Funny, I have heard nothing less that the choice to be a non-believer carried with it the right to “free-think”…y’know, to not be a part of the lowing masses that marched lockstep with the religious sheep. I wonder why this guy thinks he has the right to force a group of cadets that, while they don’t agree with the whole “Christian Message”, they do agree that a kid would like a toy on Christmas.

He appears to assume great weakness in the cadets below him; gee, aren’t they fortunate HE came along?
So here’s the message: a person who doesn’t believe in a Christian God shouldn’t have the choice to demonstrate charity toward a Christian Organization who celebrates a Christianity-Based holiday, because any demonstration of tact and charity to said organization means you espouse its belief platform. Ergo, give nothing to those who need it, and make sure others cannot give to it, either.

Seems like a “my way or the highway” kinda option, no “free thought” required.

Nice parsing LAOse–point missed entirely. Asshat’s whining that it’s “inappropriate” for his particular group to give to the toy drive because it’s Christian, eliminating the other, potentially freer thinking in his group to contribute.

So, yes…if this moron keeps those under him from contributing, kids WILL be deprived.

You mystify me. Of the three million sperm that got dumped, YOURS had to be the lucky one.

    I call Mulligan.

  • lao

stanwee’s denial of reality is too funny.

Will the cadets still be collecting toys? Yes.

Will the toys be distributed to needy kids? Yes.

Will the Christian message still be sent with the toys? Yes.

    Much ado about absolutely nothing.

As for your 9:24 claim. Wrong.

Once again, from Blount’s link: Weinstein said he wouldn’t have a problem with the academy participating in a secular toy drive, or the new plan to have academy chaplains promote the religious charity. It was cadet leaders appearing to back Christian evangelism that crossed the line, he said.

  • StanInTexas

LaoZee, the reality is they you do the exact same thing you accuse Blount of doing, and still think you are morally superior to us all.

    And you are wrong!

  • Grunt

All this huff and crap over a holiday that means to spread good cheer and a positive message, yet the really whackadoo stuff and the murderous hate-mongering Mohammedans get a pass.

Seems that only Christianity is presented as some threat. If it’s such a futile and backward belief system, why is there such an overt effort to scrub it from existence?

Because you get the greatest flack when you’re over the target.

  • Al

These are the Jews who give the Jews a bad name. I am Jewish and every Christmas we buy 50 to 100 toys to donate to needy children as CHRISTMAS PRESENTS. My kids have been taught to donate something of their own as CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.

  • AC

AC, please clarify somrething for me. Are you using the words ‘atheist’ and ‘non-believer’ to mean the same thing? I have a response to your comment above, but do not want to presuppose what you are saying.

I try to avoid the term “atheist” because it is loaded and ambiguous.

Belief can be in one of three states: affirmative, negative, or uncertain.

Some people understand atheism as the presence of negative belief, others see it as the lack of positive belief.

I would identify as an agnostic or non-believer because I refuse to take it on faith (as men like Dawkins do) that there is nothing to be observed and understood beyond our limited human capacity to observe and understand, yet I’m not in any way hostile to the idea (if it were true I would indeed want to believe, unlike the militant atheists who both believe and hope there is no god)

The ones causing the trouble tend to be the fanatics who have unshakable beliefs in the negative case and a genuine hope they’re right. They get off on tearing the beliefs of others down (just as do fanatics with beliefs in the positive case), even when the circumstance is something as innocent (and arguably non-religious) as Christmas toys. I don’t ever recall Jesus saying anything about the need to shop and give toys. Arguably, holiday gift giving is a secular consumer holiday, which makes this jerk’s crusade against Christianity in name only all the more ridiculous.

I know atheists, agnostics, Jews, and Hindus who all give gifts in the last two weeks in December. That is part of Western culture. However, because it has a mere touch of Christianity to it, jerks like this will take an extreme oppositional position to it. The level of vitriol they display would be more appropriate if somebody installed a nativity scene in their front yard without their permission.

  • StanInTexas

Thanks, AC. We have discussed this before and I thought that was your position.

Atheists like Weinstein are the issue and I believe that it all springs from their arrogance; when they say they KNOW there is no God and DEMAND everyone else side with them.

Weinstein demanded the program be stopped at the Academy. The commanders caved, but then handed the program over to the Chaplins. Weinstein then whined about it, knowing he no longer had a leg to stand on, and made his tepid statements about “We are not trying to take shoe boxes of toys and candy away from kids…”, which was his clear intent in the first place.

I have met two types of atheists in my life…
Type 1 – You believe there is a Supreme Being and I believe there is not. So, how about that local sports franchise!
Type 2 – You believe there is a Supreme Being and I know for a fact that there isn’t so I am going to scream and yell at you and make sure you never, never, NEVER utter a word or are allowed to practice your faith EVER!!!!!!

Thank you, AC, for being Type 1!

  • StanInTexas

Lao, you are the LAST person on the planet to lecture ANYONE on honesty. Try practicing some first.

And the answer to your questions are obvious. Weinstein DID try to get the whole thing shut down and DID try to keep the kids from getting Christmas presents and the message with it. By handing the program over to the chaplains, the Academy thwarted his plans.

There was nothing wrong with the program from the beginning; and you and WHINE-Stein are both heartless bastards!

  • GoY

Lao, you are the LAST person on the planet to lecture ANYONE on honesty.

LoaZee, We all know what the article says. We also know that the article says this…
Mikey Weinstein, an academy graduate who runs the Military Religious Freedom Foundation [a militant atheist outfit], said the academy’s participation in Operation Christmas Child is inappropriate because of its evangelical Christian roots.

WHINE-Stein’s initial push was to get the program ELIMINATED from the Academy. He wanted it stopped and ended. When the Academy handed it over to the Chaplain’s to run, WHINE-Stein knew he had been beaten and made to look like the pathetic fool that he is. So he made his limp-wristed statement that “he wouldn’t have a problem with the academy participating in a secular toy drive, or the new plan to have academy chaplains promote the religious charity.” See the word SECULAR there? lao, in order for someone to bother answering your questions, you need to defend their relevancy. That you have not done.

It is painfully simple for adults.

The POINT is not that children get toys

The POINT is not that the program can continue.

    etc.

    Understand?

The POINT is that this is yet another clear attack on Christianity. Here we have a context of a great example of its benefit and underpinning of Western Civilization – but the attack doesn’t get laughed off as the product of a sick mind, rather it gets accommodated. This Weinstein character should’ve got his bottom booted. THAT was the appropriate response.

    Are you really this thick?

  • lao

ghost, I notice you left the part in bold out of what you re-quoted:

Weinstein said he wouldn’t have a problem with the academy participating in a secular toy drive, or the new plan to have academy chaplains promote the religious charity.

Of course, if you had quoted the bold part then your questions would make no sense at all.

No, it doesn’t Toy Genius; the Process swapped hands to take it out of the reach of this sanctimonious asshat.

Srsly, Dude needs to grow up and let folks be, if he’s a tenth the “free thinking” individual he claims himself to be.

  • lao

Stephan says The POINT is not that children get toys

Strange. That’s certainly the POINT behind Blount’s headline and opening sentence.

Stephan says The POINT is not that the program can continue.

Strange. Blount’s final sentence suggests the program will NOT continue.

Blount very carefully AVOIDS mentioning that kids will get toys, cadets will gather them and the chaplains will promote the program.

Are you really so thick that you fail to notice Weinstein said he had no problem with the new plan to have academy chaplains promote the religious charity.?

How is supporting the academy chaplains in continuing the program a clear attack on Christianity?

  • lao.

Chaplains are every bit as motivational as the command hierarchy of the academy. Much ado about nothing.

If this gentleman goes after the chaplain program, then you have something to whine about.

  • SR

Google Mikey Weinstein, he’s been doing this sort of thing for awhile. He’s very anti-christian.

  • lao

Thanks for the tip. It helped me realize Blount’s hackery is even worse than I realized.

Weinstein is Jewish and is not an atheist. I rather enjoyed discovering that he is A registered Republican, he also spent over three years in the West Wing of the Reagan Administration as legal counsel in the White House.

Blout provided this supposed quotation: Mikey Weinstein, an academy graduate who runs the Military Religious Freedom Foundation [a militant atheist outfit], Blount decided to add the words in brackets – [a militant atheist outfit].

Where he came up with that notion is anyone’s guess. There is nothing in web descriptions of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation that suggests it is either “militant” or “atheist”.

Naturally the usual parrots jumped all over the word “atheist” in their whining.

  • http://www.topchristmastoys2011.com/ Alex

Seems to me, the clear and present offense was taken at the fact that some jerkwad was using his position of power to hinder a process that’s meant to dilute or forestall the Christian message behind the movement. I could care less what “party” he belongs to, or how he worked for Reagan, or whatever; the point is he tried to butt in and minimise a good thing because he didn’t like the fact that it was a Christian organization.

What difference does it make that he worked when the Reagan administration was in office? Exposure? Hunh. A cat can give birth to a litter in an old stove in the garage, but that don’t mean she’s makin’ biscuits, ya Mooseknuckle. Look at Ron Reagan’s Son–great Dad, kid’s a fragging Moon-Man.

“…some jerkwad was using his position of power to hinder a process that’s meant to dilute or forestall the Christian message behind the movement….”

Could have been better written as–

“…some jerkwad was using his position of power to hinder the process that’s meant to provide for poor kids and uses the Christian message behind the effort. …”

Makes more sense. Pardon the mistake.
