Renewable Fuel Standard Lunacy

Incredibly, the federal government continues to waste our money on biofuels, even though they cost more, are less efficient, drive up food prices, do nothing to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and are bad for the environment:

There is only one reason biofuels are mandated, and it has nothing to do with the economy or the environment. It has to do with a corrupt political system wringing votes from farm states. This sort of corruption is inevitable when government has too much power.

Ethanol from corn is a net energy loss. More energy is consumed in diesel and natural gas than what it nets. Subsidies and a ready-made farm infrastructure that is meant for producing food hide that.

Gee, a government failure. Who would have thought? You’de think the jackasses were drinking the corn liquor instead of dumping it into the gasoline. Maybe that’s the problem. They’re drinking too much of it.

If you bothered to read The Ergosphere, you would have had all of this info way back in 2005.

I finally got tired of moisture absorption and the consequential fuel seperation (which NO ADDITIVE can chemically stop) so i went back to payying a premium for non-ethenol fuel.
They reformulated and wrecked the diesel fuel too.
