Morrissey: Norway Slaughter Nothing Compared to McDonald’s and KFC
Maybe Norwegians should lighten up about the horrific tragedy that senselessly ended 76 innocent lives. According to vegan animal rights activist and faded pop star Morrissey (formerly of the unendurably pretentious band The Smiths), far worse things happen every day:
Before singing Meat is Murder, the 52-year-old British musician told the crowd [in Warsaw Sunday]: “We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead [sic].
“Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried s— every day.”
Morrisissy has also helped to counter the perception of animal rights activists as nasty lunatics by denouncing the Chinese as a “subspecies” for allegedly not being nice enough to our furry friends. He has equated deer hunting with killing children.
Despite the distress caused, a spokesperson confirmed the singer stands by his comments during the concert.
“Morrissey has decided not to comment any further as he believes his statement speaks for itself,” the spokeperson said.
That it does. It also speaks for the moral depravity the characterizes the animal rights movement.

I believe in animal rights but I’m not morally depraved. I think you might want to reconsider that statement, Mr Blount.
Animals have all kinda rights. Just to the right of the mashed potatoes & next to the corn.
It’s inhumane to treat animals cruelly, even the ones we use as food. There are laws against this, and rightly so… and they should probably be much better enforced, IMHO.
But rights? No.
Mankind have been breeding, raising, killing and eating animals for tens of thousands of years. We’re at the top of the food chain.

If you believe in “animal rights”, then you should believe that animals should go to JAIL for killing, raping, mutalating, tortureing and abandoning OTHER ANIMALS.
RIGHTS are part of the rule of law; if animals are to have rights, they must respect the rights of OTHER ANIMALS as humans are required to respect the rights of other humans.
However, if you are simply talking about not being cruel to animals, then tell PETA to go to hell and support the ASPCA.

KHarn, this is poor reasoning. To say that animals should be sent to jail for infringing on the rights of other animals is like saying a two year old should be sent to jail for infringing on the rights of other two year olds. There are other rights apart from legal rights, ie God-given rights. You have also completely missed my point. My objection was to the claim that moral depravity is characteristic of the animal rights movement. Which it is not. This is like saying moral depravity is characteristic of the Catholic Church. Some members of the Catholic Church may be morally depraved but it is certainly not characteristic. Moral depravity is characteristic of the gay rights movement, on the other hand, because homosexuality is, by defintion, morally depraved. Standing up for animals is not. So unless yourself or Mr Blount would like to show that it is, I stand by my original objection. Peace.
