EU Oligarchs Decree That Being Fat Entitles You to Exalted Disabled Status

In case the recent revelation that losing weight could cause global warming isn’t reason enough to refrain from dropping a few pounds, here’s a better one — obesity can allow you to join the privileged ranks of the oppressed:

Being fat is a disability, EU judges have ruled, meaning that companies in Europe must offer obese staff bigger chairs, special parking spaces and a lighter work load.

It also means that firing them for any reason will invite lawsuits, as might the logical response of refusing to hire them in the first place.

Since Britain surrendered its sovereignty without a shot being fired to the pernicious and ideologically deranged European Union, this ruling is legally binding for all British employers.

British employers will have to bear the costs of litigation and of finding ways to ensure that overweight workers are not placed at any disadvantage.

Lawyers have described the ruling as a “real problem” for businesses because EU judges did not define at what level of clinical or severe obesity a worker could be classed as disabled.

Yet again we see that liberal judges do not give a hoot in hell about the real world consequences of their sanctimonious decrees.

There is no body mass index cutoff qualifying a fat person as more equal than others by virtue of obesity and thereby exempt from normal work requirements. Any employer could be found guilty of oppressing overeaters unless arbitrarily found innocent on a case by case basis.

Important to the ruling, is the EU court’s judgment that the origin of the disability is irrelevant even if obesity is caused by overeating or gluttony. …

Nick de Bois, co-chairman of the Commons all-party parliamentary group on public health, said: “It seems to me the court is overlooking the role of personal responsibility.”

Not at all. An explicit purpose of progressive authoritarianism is to seek out and eradicate the last vestiges of personal responsibility.

obese
European employers are now in the position of this chair.

Been this way for MANY MANY YEARS, eating their way into front row parking,
little carts to dive your fat-ass around the store. All while the genuinely
disabled have to walk from the FAR end of the parking lot because the spaces are
    FULL .

  • TED

AND they get pissed when they have to pay double at the airlines. DOUBLE space, DOUBLE weight, why would you have to pay double just because you to take up twice the space?!

  • Spartan24708

I have a medical condition that causes easy weight gain and have to work hard to stay at the weight I am now and frankly I would be deeply offended if I were offered anything close to what is being offered here. I’ve worked with a grossly obese woman whose sole function during an 8 hour shift was to sit on her fat butt, bark orders at everyone else and blab on the phone. She couldn’t haul her 350 pound butt up or down the stairs more than once in a shift and was dumber than a box of rocks with most people not understanding her misspelled and poorly written shift notes. Even though the rest of the staff complained management was afraid of having to pay unemployment or disability so her obnoxious ass stayed. BTW, I’m about half the size of the wide load pictured.

This is going to cause an interesting dilemma. If obesity is a disability that requires accommodation, attempting to criticize it or even (gasp) cure it becomes a hate crime. Sooooo …. what happens to all the government programs that regulate food intake and labeling in attempts to commit the hate crime of controlling or curing obesity?

  • rambler

So what does being stupid entitle the oligarchs? Obtaining and maintaining power. It’s past time to regulate the oligarchs and time to extract them from power. .

“…must offer obese staff bigger chairs, special parking spaces and a lighter work load.

So obesity is now a mental disability?

  • sgthwjack

    Seemed an appropriate place. ;-)))

  • rambler

    Yup.

  • James McEnanly

This is not surprising, Anthony Daniels, a doctor who writes under the name of Theodore Dalrymple, wrote that in 2006, the British Welfare system managed to create more invalids than all of WWI.

  • JanderJ

Shouldn’t the “special” parking spaces be the farthest away in the lot…you know, to get a little extra exercise to help shed those pounds?

Don’t they want to lose weight, no longer be disabled, and actually do the work they are paid to do?

    Oh, right…

  • MAS

We call those carts Blubber Buggies.

  • Chronos Z. Wonderpig

so, do I actually have to be fat or can I just identify as being fat? If I think of myself as fat I should get the same benefits as those who are fat… this follows from the sex identity crap, right?

  • KHarn

    +100!

  • MAS

Kim Kardashian is that you? No? Will be in a few years.

  • Alborn

You have to provide reasonable accommodations in the USA as well.

  • Cameraman

Will this new rule also Include Fat Heads?

Government is controlled by liberals and liberals cannot commit a hate crime, just ask them. That is only something you little people or Conservatives do. Congress exempts itself and government from nearly every law it passes, has for a long time, such as Obozocare. THAT is how you arrive at being a subject, not a citizen.
Believing that elections have consequences, has consequences.

HMM, I prefer Whale Wagons, Lard Limo’s, Rump Roadster, Gut Gurney or Jelly-Belly Jeep.

This from a country that lost as many men in one day, 57,000 on 1 July 1916, as America lost in the entire war in Vietnam.

So you are saying Kim Kardashian is now considered disabled? OK.

  • Wibbins

It makes sense, if losing weight produces more CO2 then if they make people comfortable in their obesity then global coolwarmingchange will lehitleraly stop

Ill never forget having my foot run over by the “fat cart”. Plus one time I hobbled through the store on crutches rather than ride that thing.

“It’s past time to regulate the oligarchs and time to extract them from power BY FORCE OF ARMS.” – Fixed that for ya.
No oligarchy in history has ever been voted out of power, they simply do not allow it to happen. They can only be removed by force. Most people have a “normalcy bias” that says civil war can’t happen in America, even though it HAS happened before. That same normalcy bias also dictates that an oligarchy cannot happen in America yet here we are. Do yourself a favor and take the next step, recognize what must be done to stop them and restore the Constitution.
To quote Dan Akroyd in Tommy Boy, “Great, you have identified the problem, step two is washing it out”.

    Yup. yup and yup.

The EU and UN are already vastly over-subsidized.

I have had “danger dog” bookmarked for a long time now, LOL. Butt, yes, it’s appropriate here. (didn’t even occur to me) :-)
