July 4 crowds ignore call to boycott Georgia park over Confederate flag

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (Reuters) – Fourth of July holidaymakers ignored a call to boycott Georgia’s Stone Mountain Park, known as the “Confederate Rushmore,” over its display of the contentious Confederate flag.

Hundreds of people had staked out spots at the 3,200-acre (1,295-hectare) privately run park by noon on Saturday for nighttime laser and fireworks shows. They shrugged off heavy rain on the park’s busiest day of the year as well as the boycott call.

Democratic state Representative LaDawn Blackett Jones this week urged people to stay away from the park 10 miles (16 km) east of Atlanta because it flies three flags of the pro-slavery Confederacy alongside the U.S. and Georgia state flags.

Bobbie Smith of Fitzgerald, Georgia, who was camping at Stone Mountain with her family, called the boycott call “just stupid.”

“This whole park is a Confederate memorial. If you don’t have the flag here, where on Earth would you put it?” she said.

No freedom of press when it comes to Clinton!

he press was roped down by aides today at Hillary Clinton event in New Hampshire. Photos of the press corps following Clinton at a July 4 parade were shared today on Twitter and Snapchat.

Wow I’m glad the press is asking Hillary hardball questions, finally

When Hillary Clinton isn’t literally having her aids rope the press (see other post) she’s generally not available to them – this is due to the fear she might say something that will derail her campaign – she’s known for that.

But some reporters got a rare chance to ask her a question and guess what hardball topic they picked?

A CNN reporter shot back, “How about instead of some ice cream, a question?”

“Aww,” Clinton pretend groaned, according to the pool report.

A photographer then asked her if she would name her favorite flavor ice cream.

“I like nearly everything,” Clinton responded.

That explains the battleship hips, at least!

This is what socialism looks like.

Even after another month of strong hiring in June and a sinking unemployment rate, the U.S. job market just isn’t what it used to be.

Pay is sluggish. Many part-timers can’t find full-time work. And a diminished share of Americans either have a job or are looking for one.

The pin that will pop the current bubble?

Note the opening line – IT SHOULDN’T HAVE GOTTEN THIS FAR – also true about the current debt and spending here in the U.S.

It shouldn’t have gotten this far.

That’s the view of equity managers overseeing more than $3.7 trillion, who say the game of chicken between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and creditors threatens lasting damage to a European stock rally that earlier in 2015 added as much as $2.17 trillion to share prices.

“The market right now hasn’t priced in a potential ‘no’ vote,” said David Joy, the Boston-based chief market strategist at Ameriprise Financial Inc., which oversees $815 billion. “If we get one, we’re going to see another round of downside volatility in excess of what we saw on Monday. The move would be more violent.”

The Euro Stoxx 50 Index tumbled 4.2 percent on June 29 and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index had its biggest plunge in more than a year after Tsipras unexpectedly called for a referendum on austerity measures proposed by Greece’s creditors. Concern the vote may bring the nation one step closer to an exit from the euro pushed equity volatility to a three-year high.

A poll commissioned by Bloomberg News showed Friday that 43 percent of Greek citizens intend to vote against accepting austerity conditions and 42.5 percent to back a “yes.” While support for the rejection declined from 52 percent a week ago, the crisis in Greece underscores the limitations of the European Central Bank’s efforts to shore up confidence in the currency union and contain the risk of contagion to other countries in the region.

Credit Suisse Group AG estimated that the probability of Greece leaving the euro would be 75 percent with a “no” vote, according to a note on Friday.

“It would raise the question of the solidarity of the European Monetary Union,” Joy said. “If all of a sudden one member leaves, it does creates a precedent, and maybe suddenly casts some doubt on the long-term future of the monetary union.”

  • Hair care tips:

Don’t use blow dryers or curling/crimping irons on your hair (air drying your hair is the best way to go, yes, more time but worth having healthy hair). Don’t use harsh chemicals on your hair. Use shampoo and conditioner with Pro B vitamins (it makes a HUGE difference). And if you have stick-straight hair like me, use a hair-pic to get out the snarls and then use a brush. If you want waves in your hair, just braid it wet and you’ll have extra fluffy, wavy hair once it dries and you un-braid it.

The aforementioned tips are why my hair is long but healthy all the way to the ends.

    XOXO

Unlike to other Repiblican primary candidate, Donald Trump can fund his own campaign; he is above and beyond the influence of the donor class. IOWs Trump is the greatest existential threat to the status quo that exists. Moreover, if the U.S.A. is to survive, the status quo MUST be turned on its head. Trump is the only man available who’s is up to that task.
