A Quotation That Needs to Go Into Bartlett’s couldn’t be more right. This quote from Becky Gerritson’s testimony before Congress regarding the Wetumpka Tea Party’s targeting by Obama’s hyperpoliticized IRS needs to be in Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations:

“I am not here as a serf or vassal. I am not begging my lords for mercy. I’m a born-free American woman, wife, mother and citizen. And I’m telling my government that you’ve forgotten your place. It’s not your responsibility to look out for my well-being, and to monitor my speech. It’s not your right to assert an agenda. Your post, the post that you occupy, exists to preserve American liberty. You’ve sworn to perform that duty. And you have faltered.”

I shudder to think of the horror and disgust the Founding Fathers would feel if they knew what we tolerate from our rulers. But they would be proud of Becky Gerritson.

Meanwhile, the 18th edition of Bartlett’s is loaded up with moronic rubbish from superficial idiots. At least it reflects the tenor of our times.

Becky Gerritson
In Alabama they still make Americans.

I think this quotation was from the IRS hearings in late 2014. Gerritson is my nomination for the Brass Balls of the Year award. It took some moxie to say that, and every damned word of it is true.

There are two kinds of patriots: Those, like most of us, who beat their chests about patriotism when nothing is at stake, and those who do it when the chips are down. Gerritson is the latter.

Ranks right up there with Robert Welch in the 1954 Army-McCarthy hearings:

“Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness.” When McCarthy tried to continue his attack, Welch angrily interrupted, “Let us not assassinate this lad further, senator. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?” It was the beginning of the end for McCarthy’s reign of shameless political persecution, even though he may have been arguably right at first about Communists in our government.

Trouble is, that was 60 years ago. There have been pitifully few similar moments since.

In context, Welch was attacking McCarthy for having hired Roy Cohn, a (suspected) closeted homosexual. McCarthy had dared to point out that one of Welch’s people was also a known homosexual, with the intent of asking why it was okay for Welch but not McCarthy.
Welch’s outburst was pure grandstanding before an audience that was prepared to back him, not courage at all.

Furthermore, the “persecution” McCarthy was carrying out was to determine whether there were Soviet agents in the State Department. As it turned out, there were, but the fellow travelers in the government defended them.

Govt: “No, we can and will and continue doing everything we ever did to have you under a microscope. Especially you, now. Whatcha gonna do about it? Thats what I thought, talk is cheap, NEXT.”

This weaponized IRS BS has been going on for two freaking years now and you know what the Republican jackholes in Congress have done about it? NOTHING!

Now we find out that Obama’s DOJ was involved, colluding with IRS to target Tea Party and Conservatives.

That was almost a month ago and STILL NOTHING from our alleged representatives in Congress. Two years from now they will issue a final report tsk, tsking, about how bad it was and NOTHING WILL HAPPEN! Who is going to investigate the DOJ? The DOJ??

You have no representation in government, you have no recourse in the courts, there is no media watchdog on government any longer and regardless of which party is in control, the same shit keeps happening with no one ever being held accountable. You are being gamed. The D’s do something so the R’s investigate and do nothing about it. The R’s do something and the D’s investigate and do nothing about it. Meanwhile, the population is circling the drain into slavery.

The Founders started shooting long before tyranny got to this point. I was right about civil war being the only solution five years ago and I’m right about it today. The longer we wait, the higher the body count and the less chance we have to restore the Constitution.

I defy anyone to disprove me.

Government is created via ballots or bullets, ballots have failed.

  • Dan Northrup

Right on. But I don’t want to die, at least until I cant live anymore. That’s the mentality you are facing. No principles, peace is simply a function of how comfortable they can live in tyranny.

  • Dan Northrup

Faceless oppression is a difficult target. If you could make one change at the snap of your fingers, what would your target be?

  • 762×51

This oppression is not faceless, there are just too many faces of it for most to see the big picture.

There is no one target that can be eliminated which would stop the oppression. It is a conglomerate that must be disassembled and scattered. I would not have continuously pointed out the need for a civil war over the last several years if one target was the answer. I would just solve the problem myself if that were the case.

OP SEC prohibits a direct answer but it would not be within government.

  • 762×51

I agree, the sniveling swine will accept tyranny as long as it doesn’t inconvenience them too much. That way their children can pay the price for their cowardice and sloth. Those people are despicable and do not deserve any freedom.

Those of us who are not afraid to die are what the Progressives fear, we are their enemy.

  • Dan Northrup

Well if my choices are going to be Trump, Bush, or Clinton. I’m going to stand in front of polling stations and start taking a straw vote for no confidence.

  • 762×51

A trio of Progressives to be sure.

If the Republican Party was not controlled by Progressives, i.e., McConnell, McCain, Boehner, Graham, et al., they would see the success of Trump’s message and style and be using it to destroy Killary or any other Democrat that decided to run.

Like I said, this cannot be resolved at the ballot box. No matter who you vote for, they are a Progressive, regardless of party affiliation.

Maybe not Ted Cruz but the Progressives in the Republican establishment will ensure he does not get the nomination so you will never get a chance to vote for him.

Becky Gerritson made a impassioned and articulate (message) statement to Congress, to OUR Government at large..
Of course it fell on VERY DEAF EARS…The great thing is WE HEARD IT…LOUD and CLEAR…

    Thanks for the link….
