Gun Owners of America Endorses Ted Cruz

Which presidential candidate has the longest record of fighting for gun rights? You probably already knew the answer:

ted-cruz-goa

As for the competition,

In his autobiography, Trump endorsed the semi-auto ban and a longer waiting period on firearms purchases. And, caught unaware by a questioner, he endorsed Chuck Schumer’s plan to take away guns from anyone Barack Obama chose to put on a secret list — which suggests he doesn’t understand some of the seminal issues which face us.

But that’s okay, because Trump will usher in Hope & Change. I mean, he will Make America Great Again.

On a tip from Torcer.

  • Huh

Ugh, give it up already. Enough with loser Cruz. He couldn’t even beat Sanders let alone Hillary.

  • Stosh

But Trump’s stance on gun policy is consistent with the northeast liberal republican platforms, same policy positions as President Romney.

One governor in particular that agrees is his newest BFF – Crispy (Kreme) Christie.

Obviously you are a shill for the bought and paid for establish like your web site but I can see that you are a traitor and there is something not quite right with you. Why would you support Cruz when he wrote some of the by-laws for the North American Union under G. Bush Jr.? Why would you support Cruz when his wife is on the board of corrupt jew bankers GOLDMAN SACHS? Why would you support a rino senator who watched kagan and sotomeyer (commies) appointed to the supreme court?

  • Xavier

When you’re taking flak it means you’re on target.

  • Dawg One

Watch out! Here comes the Donald CHUMP Brown Shirts, circa 1938. The American electorate is filled to the brim with dead from the neck up zombies who hear the word WALL and lose any semblance of coherence that they might have had. CRUZ 2016 Because he’s the ONLY true, principled conservative in the race. Donald CHUMP is a vote splitter, just like Ross Perot was when silly Willy Clinton ran.

  • Dawg One

Yup, just another Donald CHUMP supporting, Jew hating, anti semitic, brown shirt NAZI bigot.

  • Dawg One

And if you think for one SECOND, that Donny CHUMP isn’t bought and paid for, it’s probably time for a CAT scan and general mental health check up.

  • Chocolate&Cheese

Nice, good pickup. Too bad Ted has run a horrible campaign and let everyone else define him and his agenda.

  • Chocolate&Cheese

Cruz is finding it tough to get any traction on RUBIOT. It’s sad really.

  • 762×51

Northeast Progressive Republican platforms, that which is mistakenly referred to as liberal today is actually the opposite. Thomas Jefferson was a liberal, Progressives are fascists.

  • 762×51

Trump supporters are more Alinskyite than Obama supporters, weird huh?

  • Chocolate&Cheese

I wonder whose platform this is?
Defend The Rights of Law-Abiding Gun Owners

GUN AND MAGAZINE BANS. Gun and magazine bans are a total failure. That’s been proven every time it’s been tried. Opponents of gun rights try to come up with scary sounding phrases like “assault weapons”, “military-style weapons” and “high capacity magazines” to confuse people. What they’re really talking about are popular semi-automatic rifles and standard magazines that are owned by tens of millions of Americans. Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own.

BACKGROUND CHECKS. There has been a national background check system in place since 1998. Every time a person buys a gun from a federally licensed gun dealer – which is the overwhelming majority of all gun purchases – they go through a federal background check. Study after study has shown that very few criminals are stupid enough to try and pass a background check – they get their guns from friends/family members or by stealing them. So the overwhelming majority of people who go through background checks are law-abiding gun owners. When the system was created, gun owners were promised that it would be instant, accurate and fair. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case today. Too many states are failing to put criminal and mental health records into the system – and it should go without saying that a system’s only going to be as effective as the records that are put into it. What we need to do is fix the system we have and make it work as intended. What we don’t need to do is expand a broken system.

NATIONAL RIGHT TO CARRY. The right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway. That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving – which is a privilege, not a right – then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.

MILITARY BASES AND RECRUITING CENTERS. Banning our military from carrying firearms on bases and at recruiting centers is ridiculous. We train our military how to safely and responsibly use firearms, but our current policies leave them defenseless. To make America great again, we need a strong military. To have a strong military, we need to allow them to defend themselves.

I had a conversation with Larry Pratt a couple years back at a Patriot meeting..
He was there to stand with PTSD veterans against Obama Regime and associates working to strip 2nd amendment rights of these veterans..

The NRA rolled over to Obama and the US govt on this issue..

where does Ted Cruz stand on this issue??

  • 762×51

Right from the Trump site so it must be true.

Of course that is AFTER he magically did a 180 in Sept. 2015 on gun control. In 2012 this was his position

    • Trump believes that assault weapons should be banned, “who needs them except criminals and police?”

    • He wants a longer waiting period for hand guns, rifles and shotguns.
We should be able to tell within 72 hours if a person has a record or
mental issues that would prohibit ownership.

Trump has opinions, not principles. Opinions change, principles do not. Electing another unprincipled politician will not fix the problems we have whit the hundreds of unprincipled politicians already in DC.

  • 762×51

Gun Owners of America is a much more credible endorsement than the NRA which has sold out gun owners many times over the years. I no longer belong to the NRA for that reason.

That said, Ted, call me, we need to talk. The SCAR Mk16 sucked, that’s why SOCOM dropped it and the SEAL teams are back to using their HK-416’s again. Trying to manipulate that weapon in armor is a clusterfuck.

  • 762×51

Exactly right. GOA over NRA all day every day.

They have been rolling over on issues since at least the 1980’s. Ever since that slime ball Neal Knox started having a say in things with the NRA-ILA. He is a government toadie, no question.

Anyone who thinks the NRA is on the side of gun owners, check out this essay written by L Neil Smith. He has a dozen reasons not to support the NRA. The NRA is the GOPee of gun owner representation.

there were hundreds in attendance and many Nam vets who have owned their guns for fourty years..

The NRA rolled over in 68 and as far back as the 30s….

I’ve heard that they had a hand in the GCA of 1968 but have never heard anything about the 1930’s. Were they complicit in the NFA 1934?

  • ramrodd

The NRA’s president supported “sharply restricting” guns in 1934. Then its members revolted.

In the wake of Wednesday’s on-camera shooting in Virginia, Evan Dickson posted the above meme on Twitter, in which a past National Rifle Association president says the “promiscuous toting” of guns should be “sharply restricted.” The quote is accurate, and Frederick wasn’t alone — for much of the 20th century, the NRA’s leaders sympathized with and even supported gun control measures.

In Winkler’s telling, the high-profile assassinations and race riots of the 1960s led to the modern push for gun control. Many politicians began to blame the widespread availability of guns for this increasing violence, with President Lyndon Johnson, for instance, coming out in support of federal gun registration and licensing. In 1968, he ended up signing two compromise laws placing some
restrictions on gun sales, which, while minor, were the first federal gun control laws since the era of Prohibition-related gang violence.

And the NRA’s leadership backed them.

But a backlash soon brewed among the group’s rank and file. Some felt threatened by rising crime and wanted guns for protection. Others lived in low-crime rural areas and disdained gun restrictions as a pointless inconvenience. Still others nursed dark conspiracy theories that the government was plotting to take all their guns away. “It was the concept of gun control itself that they disliked, even hated,” Davidson writes.

There you are. So the NRA has much longer history of duplicity than I originally thought.

I saw it first hand in the 80’s which was my moment of realization about the organization.

I know a couple of the NRA BOD, they are decent enough guys who I shoot with occasionally but I don’t discuss the NRA with them as it would cause a scene and serve no purpose. I once asked one of them if he would support ousting Grover Norquist from the board and he gave me a canned response and just kind of slithered away from the issue. The guy is a decorated Airborne Ranger from the Vietnam War. I lost a significant amount of respect for him that day.

  • 762×51

LOL, a Trump-eter whining about ad hominem. How funny.

In true Progressive fashion, you will say or do anything that wins the moment.

  • Scott Doty

    Ted Cruz is pure scum!

And for those fellow citizens whom maybe reading this I ask. Jew hating? Really? Who prints the illegal fiat currency at the Federal Reserve? Who owns and controls Hollywood and all the immoral trash that comes out of their movie studios? Who owns the porno industry and produces the porno smut in L.A.? Who owns the Disney Corp. now and has promoted Miley Cyrus, Brittany Spears and Cristina Aguilera?

  • I’m a member of Gun Owners of America and I never received any notice of this endorsement, nor did I receive a ballot to vote for the endorsee.

  • bruce lancaster

GOA doesn’t actually have membership. They have contributors. You may or may not have given them $25 at some point, but you did not receive any sort of voting rights or etc for that $25. You merely signed up for their newsletters and gave them the OK to do with that $25 whatever they want…. So, you might want to pay attention when you donate money if you don’t like the results of what your money is spent on… Or, you can accept exactly what you did with that money and realize that there is exactly one candidate who is 100% 2A… And, that is indeed true. there is exactly one candidate who has never vavered at all on the 2nd Amendment. It does happen to be Ted Cruz. If you’re supporting anyone but Ted Cruz, then gun rights aren’t your issue. You simply do not care about your gun rights.
